Rebylvirgine

The Domidan Research Company, a branch of the University of Domido, received notice from a Rebel Virginian scientist that a mysterious substance can be found in Wanatetan Bay and mass-produced if useful.

The Rebel Virginian scientist requested that the substance be called Rebylvirgine if it is discovered.

After having analyzed the sample of Wanatetan Bay water for several weeks, the researchers finally isolated a substance. Being unable to break apart the substance into elements, and unable to find the atomic properties of the substance, the researchers could only assume that its molecules consisted of very tightly-fused-together atoms. They have realized that the substance could be treated as an element due to its inseparatibility. The pseudo-element has been assigned the symbol Rv, and placed between Groups VIA and VIIA.

Researchers immediately found a use for this substance. A special compound, Sodium Rebylvirgide, adds an extremely tasty flavor to food that cause humans to want more and more of the taste. Its addictive nature can be used by food companies to make their food more sought-after. In addition, the strength of the taste of the substance does not decrease as one gets more and more used to it, so food companies do not have to increase their uses of Sodium Rebylvirgide in their food products.

A factory is already being built on the Wanatetan bay that would harvest this substance and commercially ship it into the market. The substance is also able to be sold overseas, at the initial price of $1,000,000 for the first grain purchased, plus $315,000 per ton.

The Domidan Research Company requests Rebel Virginia to send the relevant scientists to develop further research into this product.

The Wanatet Department of Food announced earliar today that "This substance must be thoroughly investigated before being used in food products. While we respect the Domidan Research Company for contributing such a beneficial substance to the diet of Wanatetans, it must be investigated and researched for safety hazards before being allowed to be massively distributed."

The factory is still allowed to run as normal, however, the product was not allowed to be sold yet.

Five samples of the product reached the Department of Food station at noontime. After testing it on test subjects, there were no problems seen. However, the test subjects wanted more, and claimed it was good. The test subjects were placed in isolated rooms while the substance was examined for traces of causes of health problems. After 2 hours, it was confirmed that there were no health concerns. The test subjects were alright with not having any more, even though they have been separated from the substance for 2 hours. After letting the examiners taste the substance, it was approved as safe for foods.

Surprisingly, the entire process finished by the afternoon, and the factory was given a liscense for selling the substance.

OOC: It is in Wanatetan bay. You can harvest it from there as well if your people know IC what it is.

You guys can analyze it all you want after purchasing some from the producers :)

"Rebel Virginia will be sending its top scientists to immediately study this compound. We have a feeling that this compound may have wormhole inducing properties. If Rebel Virginia can harness the power of wormholes we are certain that our fleet of galleons will be unstoppable. Rule the seas we will. Additionally, we feel we can turn this compound into gold. Our top alchemists will be accompanying our scientists. In fact, our top scientists are all alchemists. Fancy that." commented Press Secretary Brawnson in a conference on this remarkable new element earlier today.

The scientists were warmly received in Port Domido and lead to a research facility.

"Greetings. We are working on creating a process similar to combustion in an attempt to release energy from a compound containing this substance."

OOC: Should this be localed in The 'Wanatetan bay', It would also be found in the waters of Taiwan AND Promised land, It would not be only in one location.

OOC: "Wanatetan Bay" is the Wanatetan name for the entire Gulf of Carpentaria. In other words, it's connected and your nations have access to the same waters.

Minister Biao will recommend to the Dragon Empire Chairman that this substance, with is obviously narcotic in nature, is a national security threat to the Dragon Empire and should be banned. OOC Think Opium War of 1839-40

This has in fact already happened, and was actually taking place at the very same time Chairman Biao submitted his request, but we're still ordering a small quantity for scientific study. Rebylvirgine is contraband in Dragon Empire.

OOC: Ah, that makes sense.

IC: Promised Land cannot stop the trade, but warns that citizens use it at their own risk. We will not (and cannot, at this time) send officials to trade for this substance, as we are busy enough with our own problems.

The Omniscient Empire would like to purchase 50 tonnes of this material for scientific analysis.

50 tonnes will be shipped to the Omniscient Empire as soon as possible. Please wire the payment to the University of Domido. Please keep in mind that there is an additional shipping charge of $10,000 per tonne. The total cost is $17,250,000.

A five-kilogram sample will be shipped to the Dragon Empire. The price for the 5 kilograms is waived, so that the cost is only the initial $1,000,000. The cost covers shipping. Please wire the payment to the University of Domido.

We wish to do an exchange for some of this "important" narcotic substance.

A five-kilogram sample can be sold to your nation for $1,000,000.

OOC: Fast forward :)

IC: 50 tonnes of Sodium Rebylvirgide grains arrived in the Omniscient Empire on a cargo ship. The port authorities there will unload the substance.

It seems foreign governments are putting bans on the substance even though there is no evidence of any danger, and they have not tasted the substance.

A substance that 'magically' alters food to taste great is addictive psycologically. This in itself makes it dangerous as withdrawal could become a problem. Addiction does not only come from chemicals.

According to the Wanatetan Department of Food, the substance is safe. As stated earlier, test subjects had no problems with not having more of the substance after they tasted some.
