Sargun II
ooc: Yes, yes it would take a lot of hard work.. a lot of viruses, catalysts, enzymes... and a very specially contained treatment center and method. Oh wait. The body sheds a layer of skin ever so many days in reality. If the newly reproduced cells are corresponding to new genetic instructions it would not be out of the question to cause them to replace standard skin with scale. In fact, scaly skin is actually a disease in humans. There's also the cases of the alligator men that have genetic oddities that cause them to grow scales and they are completely viable. I think you need to re-evaluate your thought on this. I mean, there's a lot of things that can happen when genes are altered. Ever heard of the "tree man?" OOC: Tree man has warts all over his body. Sargun II
OOC: Alright, guys. Here's how it's gonna be. Maelstrom got advanced approval by HK for a genetics-based roleplay with Saboria (or someone with his tech level or above) that would involve his leader (and perhaps a few top government officials) have somewhat reptilian traits. However, they will still be human-based and majority-human, and this will in no way have anything to do that could alter the scales - no pun intended- of the RP or even have any major repercussions. One (or a few) person(s) having scales or some silly little addition isn't a problem. Whether or not it's possible? It probably really isn't, but we can't truly know for sure. However, as it is a minor RP that doesn't have anything to do with armies or real interaction (such as having dragon riders or something weird) it shouldn't be an issue. I can't overrule a mod. Just drop the arguing, right now.
Maelstrom Vortex
Month 6 come along. Maelstrom was released from his water-like suspension. Koduoa was put into the treatment chamber in a dress. The same process began for her. Maelstrom, in the meantime, was coming to grips with the fact his hearing was much more sensitive, and that he could see some very peculiar patterns in the dark. He could still see people move.. temperature gradients. The most unusual parts to him was looking at a door in the light.. where one set of senses tell him that there is just air coming from outside from beneath the door.. and the other visual inputs told him that air was very cold. One day during his physical, the doctors came to him and informed him he would have to do a special round of vaccinations against diseases related more to what he had become, that he would be more vulnerable to some types of diseases now. He sat down, took his shots. He found his sleeping patterns usual, but sometimes strange. Sometimes at night, one side of his body would wake up.. yet not the other.. it varied as to which side. He'd identify the source of what woke him up, and that half of him would go back to sleep. He found he would have to routinely wash the gills that had grown on his neck at least two to three times a day.. otherwise they started to dry out. There was a cost to his new body.. new procedures. He would actually sometimes scare himself looking into mirrors. Then he would realize it was only himself. It would take some time to get accustomed to. He felt like he was in a haze. He spoke to LeClerc, "Am I alive? I feel like this is some.. strange dream."

Lynneth
He spoke to LeClerc, "Am I alive? I feel like this is some.. strange dream." Leclerc was, unlike most others, used to strange sights, being the head scientist of the secret genetic facility. Though, until now, none of his subjects had been manipulated as much as Maelstrom - excluding the subjects needed to make sure Maelstrom's "mutation" would go mostly as planned. "Are we always dreaming, even when we think we are awake? Heh. Too much philosophical bullcrap for my taste." He put a hand on Vortex' shoulder, not without raising an eyebrow at the strange feeling of the changed skin. "You've spent months in hibernation, in artificial sleep. You woke up drastically changed. Of course this all seems like a dream, but can you really feel pain in dreams? I for one can't."
Maelstrom Vortex
"Eh.. no... I guessss not." Eh? A lisp? The feeling would be even stranger by the odd presence of a slight sensation of "charge" to the skin, like touching something of a battery. The Sachs organ must be working efficiently. The next thing Maelstrom slowly came to realize.. "I'm.. not going to die!" He smiled brilliantly, displaying 3 serrated white rows of teeth and folded back fangs. You have provided NO SOURCES that say that lizard-men or human-animal hybrids are possible, so excuse me for having some standards, excuse me for knowing proper debate format, and excuse me for seeing though your facade of trying to get dragons. In fact, you TOLD me that you were going to do this to get something close to a dragon on MSN, and I greatly regret not screenshotting that. The only reason I'm dropping this is because a mod made a decision and the chance of my changing their mind is moot. I suggest you grow up, stop with the childish attitude, and realize that people are going to question what you do and that you need to back up your actions with sources or common knowledge. Don't bother replying to this, I have you on my ignore list. Good DAY to you sir.
Maelstrom Vortex
ooc: If you would simply use google, you'd find out how much of it is common knowledge and how much of it is conjecture. Again, I'm not here to be your educator. I am here to have fun. By the way, since you've decided to take things the way you have. Ignoring is mutual, please stay out of my threads in ooc or ic, you don't really have a say there any longer by your own claims. Maelstrom Vortex
Maelstrom would now spend many of his days doing what his wife did.. staring quietly at her as she underwent her changes, praying for her safety and the successful completion of the procedure. He had to order his wedding ring re-sized. It no longer fit his claws hands. At times, he would stand and pace. Occasionally he would check the news to make sure his stand-ins at the Dragon Empire were doing well enough on their own.

It actually is a miracle that nothing happened while you were hibernated." _____ Meanwhile, the treatment for the Chairman's wife was begun. However...One of the doctors got second thoughts about all this, now that he has seen Maelstrom out of the fluid. He was unsure of certain things... Maelstrom Vortex
The Chairman watched his wife, watching the actions of the scientists. Karnell kept close watch. He knew that people may get nervous over this new introduction. Social models indicated that in fact, the advent of a new species could be very traumatic. That is why when this was done, he was going to have the Chairman continue to dress as if he had not been cured. Dark robes, clothes.. conceal what he is, until this science was more common and accepted. The previous procedure was successful, with the aid of Generosa he would very closely monitor the proceedings to make sure the same, successful, process would hopefully not be tampered with. HK47
Okay, here's the deal. Yes this is okay, but, for all intents and purposes he's going to be far more human that lizard. slightly Lizardy eyes and sharpened teeth, maybe some slightly scaley skin. He could achieve better results with cosmetic surgery It'll also sterilise him so he'll be the only one (EDIT: even if his' wife changes too). It's going to make for a pretty ugly meatbag to be honest. Now give it rest already.

Dark robes, clothes.. conceal what he is, until this science was more common and accepted. The previous procedure was successful, with the aid of Generosa he would very closely monitor the proceedings to make sure the same, successful, process would hopefully not be tampered with. Generosa assured Karnell that, now that Maelstrom had successfully been 'changed' and everything that had been done in the previous months was carefully documented - in a classified, separate part of the hospital's archive, of course - they could easily repeat the procedure step by step, not having to fear that something could go wrong. He was of the opinion that, while relaxing would be bad, being overly rigid with the proceedings could potentially upset the schedule, which would in turn make the procedure more difficult again. The procedures would thus largely be the same, though Chairman Vortex would have to be careful to not be seen by other patients or the other nurses than those that had helped in the last months. Maelstrom Vortex
The Chairman kept to the observation room in silence. The one thing he requested.. was a box of lightbulbs. He began to practice the use of his sachs organ to light light bulbs, to moderate between different voltage levels like eels do when they hunt. It was one of the few features of his new form that was voluntarily controlled and not wired into his sensory network. Karnell relaxed a little at LeClerc's words. The procedure was followed to the letter on his side of things. Edited February 9, 2009 by Maelstrom Vortex
Maelstrom Vortex
As turned on the light and turned it off. Maelstrom thought about a lot his life... "Lord, I sit before you.. practicing with the new gifts you have given me, a grateful man. You have spared my life through your infinite knowledge.. shared through your grace with man. I know it has been a time since I've approached you outside of normal worship. But I felt now was a more than appropriate time to give my gratitude. You could say, turning this little light bulb on and off, I thought about what you must have been thinking when you just created light.. and at the mess you knew lie in wait in the form of the will of man in the inevitable coming future. I hope I can use my gifts wisely, that the new creature you have allowed me to be will hopefully be an improvement upon what I was. Please, lead, guide, and direct me as always in your will. Please continue to give me the strength to govern and protect my people. My I be an example to them in my character and behavior, ever fulfilling your will. Protect my people, give them the strength to see your will through and to act with character when times are dim. Bless my government.. the leaders who so loyally serve by my side. They will never know how much I appreciate all they do for the Empire." He looked to his wife in the chambers outside, "She took this upon herself at great risk.. this procedure is risky. I know she did not want me to be alone, but unlike with me where death was so certain, she could have lived for so long. Watch over her, protect her, please.. return her to me. If this fails.. I know she goes back into the loving arms who gave her to me, but it will be a great burden upon my spirit. She has always been my true strength.." He began to sob softly. A hand quietly went to the glass as he watched her. "I love her. I'd rather, if it be anyone, you'd have taken me." He then laid down.. trying to sleep.. while the days went on. He, in fact.. was weaker without her.. than she was without him. He held his Cross and Bible closely to his chest as he slept. Lynneth
OOC: Alea Iacta Est. IC: It was in the middle of the night. Aside from two nurses, Dr. Koudi was alone for the time being, and the nurses were busy preparing things for the next day. Koudi had always been a heavy coffee-drinker, so it was not unusual for him to arrive with a cup full of it. Today, however, the cup had not coffee within it, but something quite different. Fifty grams of pure caffeine, mixed with water and dark-brown food colour, to look just like normal coffee. Theoretically enough to kill five fully grown humans, but this man didn't want to take any risks of her being saved. He went to from where the food was dispensed to the 'patient', while the nurses were still working. A few seconds were all that he needed. The caffeine was brought into the dispenser, and shortly after this, emergency alarms began blaring, while Koudi refilled his mug with normal coffee. Minutes later, several doctors and nurses stormed into the room, including Generosa. However, her heart had already failed. A catastrophe for the project, and the death of Vortex' wife. Maelstrom Vortex
Maelstrom woke up. He lept through the observation glass and went into the room where Koudoa was in the tank as the alarms were going off. He jumped into the tank.. and put his hands on her chest.. and using the sachs organ and all he had practiced through the night.. he did his damndest to try to defibrilate her failing heart. He would shock her with his maximum charge capacity of 650 volts through his claws laid on her chest like voltage paddles. "Come on!" He kept trying over and over again... "Don't leave me!" He looked out of the tank at LeClerc, "What's wrong what can we do?" He kept trying to shock her heart into Rhythm, but was rapidly running out of the voltage build up he had sustained. Maelstrom Vortex
Try.. and try again... no success. Age 36, Maelstrom Vortex.. was a widower. His wife, age 35, passed soundly in her sleep the victim of a caffiene induced heart failure. Maelstrom lept back out of the tank. He looked to his doctors, "Get her home.." He looked to LeClerc, "I thank you for what you have done for me. I know this was not your intent, or I would be the one dead.. not her. Please find who did this to her. I will send a legal team up here specializing in your law.. we'll follow your processes.. but with your help, I want this person nailed to the wall for what they have done. You will forever have my gratitude.." Visible in his eyes, there was rage though, not at LeClerc, "I.. am going to be out of sorts for a while. I am going to go ahead and return home. The spirit of my wife has moved on, there is no more for me to see.. no reason for me to stay now. If anything goes wrong, I'll be returned to you for study. I've asked my body be donated to Saborian science out of good will given you helped make me what I am now. She is in God's hands. I have a country I must run." He shook LeClerc's hand.. then he and his scientists only picked up the bare minimum of what they needed to leave.. and they stormed towards the airport under their monitoring guards. Lynneth
OOC: It's Leclerc btw, not LeClerc. IC: Leclerc and the other Saborians watched the Dragonisians leave, then some sighed and went to cleaning this mess, while Generosa took Koudi to the side, into an empty room. "You want to talk to me, Dr. Generosa?" "Yes. Yes, I want, Sanza. I want to know why you did this. Why you killed her." "Because I came here to save sick people. Not to make a...A monster from what was a perfectly healthy person." "And that is why you did it?" "Yes. There were some...other reasons, but this is the main-reason." "Very well. Will you confess this in front of a judge?" "If necessary, yes, doctor. There are, however, more than enough syringes nearby, and going through all material of tonight would take several hours. More than enough time for a doctor who knows what he is doing." "So you would rather do that than stand in trial and get convicted to a labour camp?" "Yes, Dr. Generosa." "Very well. I will make sure your family gets compensation." "Thank you, doctor." Generosa left the room. Some hours later, Koudi would 'officially' be found, cause of death being self-injection of approximately 50 millilitres of air into a major vein, resulting in a rather painful but quick death. While the information would be shared with Dragonisia, most of the exact happenings here would be kept secret from the masses.
