Diplomatic Department Communications to Saboria

Leclerc chuckled. "Well, that depends on what facilities you want to see. If you mean the medical ones, then Doctor Generosa would surely give you a tour."

In response, Generosa nodded, signing that he would indeed do that if asked.

"I would be greatly appreciative." He nodded to Generosa, "Perhaps show me where we shall be working. I also need to know how I should come by accommodations while I am here. I'm not sure if you have the typical hotels per say."

##In the meantime.. across the world.. ##

The ailing Maelstrom was helped from bed into his wheelchair.. and out the door to Dragon One. His attendants brought their luggage and his wife kept an almost vice-like hold on his arm.. dreading the days ahead and their temporary separation during his treatment. She sighed gently and stroked his hair idly as they boarded the plane. Maelstrom occasionally took fits of coughing. He sighed gently and murmured... "Please God, let this work.. or let me finally find peace...."

And after a long tour, the good Doctor was shown to some good quarters and he rested as he awaited the arrival of the Chairmain from the Empire.

## 10 hours later... ##

A plane touches down at the airport, is escorted to a similar hanger.. and a similar procedure occurs. Except, this time, the Chairman of the Dragon Empire is rushed to the Hospital urgent care center for preparations, he was waxing weak, his wife not far behind. She pleaded with Leclerc when he had arrived to see the Chairman to the treatment center, "Please save him!"

Once the Dragonisian Chairman was within the UCC, he was being prepared to be transferred to the intensive care unit, where he would then stay for most of the time unless part of a treatment required him elsewhere in the hospital. A team of several doctors, including Doctor Generosa and the Dragonisian doctors as well as nurses to care for Chairman Maelstrom was assembled and organised. Similarly, everything to keep the Chairman alive as long as possible, with the best and most modern equipment available was being prepared.

Usually, the cost of such extensive treatment and care would go into the millions for longer times, even excluding the genetic research. But as Leclerc had said, there would be no need for payment from Dragonisia - Saboria would pay for all this.

As the Saborian Chairman was approached by Maelstrom's wife, he took her hands. "We will do our best, Ma'am. But even with our technology, we cannot guarantee success. There is, unfortunately, always a risk of failure."

She sobbed softly, keeping a tissue with her, staying near her beloved as closely as the staff would permit at all times. Dr. Karnell and his two aides stayed with the Saborian medical staff, providing them the charts and information they had on Chairman's medical history and current state of health down to his DNA. Megan Fox was notified she was on Pro Tempoire status as Chairman and MilCom leader General Vasili Markov was temporarily promoted to Vice-Chairman.

Maelstrom sighed in his hospital bed as samples were taken to prepare diagnosis and treatment with Saboria's more advanced technology. Karnell came to his side, "Don't worry to much, sir. We're going to everything we can to help you."

"What are we doing right now?" The Chairman asked.

"Right now we're taking a lot of samples to help the Saborians know the full details of what is happening to you and the extent of the damage to your body. We're doing a work up on how to try to implement repairs, and possibly even the project once you are stabilized. The Saborians are even offering to do it without a charge, looking at it as an opportunity for scientific advancement. We can't guarantee this will work, but we're going to give it our best. There's a chance you will die." He stated.

The chairman laughed in a soft, deep, tired way.. "They've been telling me that since I was told I took a life dose of radiation. If that is all, this is a risk I am more than willing to take." He reached up and gripped his Wife's hand one last time before she was taken to an observation area. They exchanged, "I love you's..." before they were separated. His heart melted, this was the hardest part. "How long will I be away from her, Greg?"

Karnell sighed, "I'm sorry Mael, this could take a month or more to complete. You need to be isolated to prevent infective risks."

"Have some of our home videos brought up her will you? Make sure she's comfortable as she can be." He lowered his gaze to his wedding ring.

"I'll do my best.."

Dr. Karnell went to introduce himself and the Saborian team to the Chairman, after which they immediately went to work. The information brought by the Dragonisians was being analysed, while, in the next room, a big tube was being prepared. This tube would soon be filled with hydrofloroucarbon amniotic solution, in which the Chairman would be submerged. Once inside, he'd be put to sleep artificially and the work of remaking a man would begin.

Leclerc estimated that it would take up to twelve months to completely finish the treatment, and at least four until they could take Maelstrom out of this hibernation.

Koudoa sighed at the time frames. She would stay almost every day in the observation rooms, watching over her beloved. Once he was submerged, dressed only in shorts and a tshirt, he was wired up to many different electrodes. Before they put him to sleep, he put his lips of to the glass and kissed towards his wife, whom kissed back from her observation area. Then slowly, but surely, his now vibrant green serpentine eyes closed. The first phase of the treatment began.

His immune system was slowly being conditioned, reprogrammed by viruses and nannites, to accept the newly introduced viruses as part of his existing body, not to attack them so that he may have his tissues reprogrammed. A constant flow of the liquids in his chamber kept them refreshed so he would not suffocate or choke. He slept peacefully..

His heart monitored closely as well as his temperature. It would take the better half of the first month for this particular phase to be completed and confirmed completed....

For the duration of the first month, Maelstrom's body was injected with T-Cell and lymphnode targeting viral engineering agents. His body temperature at times would soar to 101 degrees farenheit, even in the aqueous solution due to all the ongoing chemical reactions. This was barely within safety tolerances. Catalysts were added and removed to facilitate the change, including a variety of customized enzymes. The Mitochondria were also targeted for improvement.

Once the immune system was finally prepared, the first alteration began. They would give the Chairman stronger rates of regeneration as well as begin a body-wide flush of radioactive contaminants with appropriate compounds. Chelating agents were added to his circulatory system to slowly remove heavy metal radioactive contamination. To counter dropping blood cell counts, new t-cells and red cells were added at rate that normalized his counts back into his sytem during thi process.

The Chairman's health began to significantly improve.. bone marrow began to regenerate as well as did other tissues, he was starting to look like his old self again, though as a side effect, his skin and tissues were taking on a scale-like appearance and texture due to the use of the Chameleon DNA splicing into his genetic code. During this process, his temperature occasionally drifted into the red zone of 102 degrees and they had to cut back the rate of change.

The intravenous feeding was protein and carbohydrate heavy, it was estimated that during this process.. the Chairman's body would use 2-3 times the normal materials it typically utilized.

The second month was dedicated to skeletal changes. After the immune system was reviewed it was the next logical step since this was the structure that produced new blood cells. Viruses and catalysts were used to begin a modification of the bone tissue giving them a greater density of iron, calcium, and carbon. The bone structure was also modified, the angles of the jaws were changed as a great-white shark's dental plan was instated. The gums were toughend and modified to seat 3 rows of teeth that would rotate out as old teeth decayed. The human teeth began to fall out, being replaced by more pointed, serrated sets. The upper jaw, just below the nose and including the lower sections of the nose slightly stretched forward into an overbite.. a very slight protruding muzzle of sorts. The density treatment had caused some protrusions through the skin of bone near the eyebrows and sides of the skull due to the intermixing with komodo-dragon DNA. Poison glands and fangs also grew in among the shark teeth.. with the rattlesnake DNA segments reacting with the rest of the peculiar genetic makeup.

The skin, as a side effect was graying and becoming tougher with the changes. In order to prevent temperature control problems, the density of sweat glands per square inch was not reduced. The once somewhat reptilian eyes were now very slitted.. very serpent or cat like. They reflected light in the dark. A nictating membrane grew in over the eyes and a tapetum ludium had grown in on the rear of the eyes. Rattlesnake dna had also been spliced into the code that was being utilized.. pits began to form next to the nostrils as additional sensory inputs grew under the effects of catalysts. The cranium space also increased slightly as new sections began to form in the brain's neural structure to accomodate the additional muscle and bodily controls.

Near the end of month 2, testing began on electrical reflexes to test the "eel" based chromosomes in the new code. Occasionally the chairman's resting form was poked in a faintly painful way.. and a voltage meter measured the biochemical reaction current. Voltage hit up to 650 on the electrical meters charts generated by the newly grown sach's organ in the chairman's torso just above his stomach.

Lymph node and gland testing was done constantly to ensure the Chairman's body wasn't being thrown completely out of balance hormonally or immunologically. Sharp talons formed on the chairman's finger tips that recessed into the fingers as the hands became more muscular and his body overall became more lean muscle although a good weight was kept in fat around his abdomen as the resources for the electric shocks would have to be stored somewhere.

Radiation levels were also closely monitored and were dropping steadily as the cleansing agents recycled through his system.

Koudoa could only watch in fascination as her husband changed before her eyes, only hoping the mind would stay stable after the body had become so different.

OOC: I will say now, that this is completely impossible.

Seeing as it is no threat to anyone at this time, you may carry on, but know that I don't like it for it's lack of realism, beside that, it's a nice read.

ooc: I'm sure you're a geneticist from a decade or four from now living in a culture where society is not nervous about playing god with genes and know all the scientific capabilities and advancements feasible within 30-40 years from present in genetic science and biotechnology. Sure, I will admit it may not be possible, but I doubt you can really say it isn't yet either. And I sought tentative approval before I began this rp by the powers that be given the strict nature of this forum. Just enjoy it, don't worry about it so much. In fact wiki tentatively indicates sachs organs may actually have practical uses to generate voltage for implants.. which I think is very cool. BTW, my father is a living cyborg. There's a technology now where they put deep brain stimulators into the motor section of the human brain to help parkinsons patients walk. What we have right now is actually very interesting and rather freaky stuff as it is.. I can only make educated guesses about where we will go from here.

OOC: What I'm saying is that he would have had no immune system for quite a while, and now you're trying to fundamentally change his DNA and RNA. His immune system would likely try to eat him alive the second you start to hit his DNA around like that, and that's assuming that everything is done without flaw, because the slightest flaw will kill the region of the body, or give him cancer. Thirty, forty years from now, we would be lucky to master human organ transplants, and stem-cells, I have no clue how long it's going to be before we can mutate a human while they're still alive, right now, we have trouble mutating things over a generation. Something like that is way out of the realm of possibility, but as I said earlier, I'll ignore the science for moment and enjoy the RP.

ooc: If you ever took the time to read a little deeper, they'd anticipated the immune system issues and farmed his t-cells and the first thing they did was re-wire the genetic structure of the immune system to prevent the very problem you're describing. You're also living in a society and time where there's great inhibition to the use of genetics and t-cells in many different approaches to science due to ethical concerns whereas Saboria has already shed these problems. Everything you're noting as a problem has already been considered and addressed.. I can't of course give specifics on how they would be addressed.. I don't live 20-30 years into the future either. I do know they are finding many different solutions to organ rejection and haven't even really yet brought genetics or nano-technology into their approaches yet even... so.. lots of potential on where that all could go. But thank you for letting it go and letting us resume the rp.

OOC: BTW, we are mastering human organ transplant right now, in 2009. Actually, a better term would be getting rid of human organ transplants, because we will be able to grow whatever organ we need in a lab. Right now, the most we can grow is a bladder, but they're working on heart valves.

The third month came along, all was progressing well. Extra attention was given this month to organ systems and muscular systems. They were reinforced and strengthened.. the chairman was literally strong as an ox now. His feet were also faintly modified using designs similar to a cheeta's for grip and sensory of balance. The ankle structure was greatly reshaped to conform to stronger muscle bindings.

The tongue was reshaped, forked.. additional sensory centers were added just below the sinus so that the air could be tasted and smelled. It was about this month that the Chairman began to come around again. His neural activity was increasing. One of his eyes opened.. the other half of his brain slept as he watched the world around him. This was a residual effect of the shark dna. The geneticists found it quite creepy. He wasn't quite entirely aware, but he was still watching them. Even Generosa would occasionally pause to look at the creature that was staring back at him.. still human, yet not quite human. Gills had begun to appear behind the Chairman's jaw and take in the oxygenated liquid solution further increasing his blood/oxygen level the shark DNA designs again, showing itself. Webbing slowly appeared between the chairman's talon decorated fingers.

Koudoa smiled softly as the eye moved to her and half of the Chairman's shark-ish smile curbed faintly upwards in recognition. A hand slowly moved to the glass splaying the talons and softly waving to her as if to tell her he was alright. Muscle density increased, but not like a body builders the muscle structure was more cat-like.. lean.. strong although girded by serpentine grey and flesh-tone scales that drifted more gray each passing day as old skin died off replaced by the new design.

The fourth month came.. The last stage was some metabolic tweaking, making sure all the parts were now synchronized, running at optimal capacity, and that immune responses were strong but still not against the host. Additionally, the chairman's hearing and vocal patterns were adjusted adding sonar echolocation methods. The tissue around the ear became slightly thicker as local fat deposits integrated into the hearing system as a part of biological sonar vibration detection. The ears were also made somewhat larger, taking a somewhat bat-ear like shape so that the sensory would be effective both in air and water. The olfactory caverns on the chairman were also deepened and broadened.. more detection nerves per square inch were integrated. The chairman would have a nose better than most wolves and some bloodhounds. The Chairman's neural activity briefly spiked as all the new sensory input began to be processed. To prevent a seizure he was medicated.. new processing centers were added to his neurology with the farmed stem cells being cajoled into becoming neurons. Slowly, the medication was reduced... and his neural activity normalized.

New fluid and tissue samples to make sure all parts of the body were in compliance to the new genetic code. The chairman's skin at this point was almost as thick as a crocodile or alligator's hide and a deep shade of grey. This had been intended, interwoven into the scale structures were fibers of naturally formed silk. The scientists had designed the chairman's skin with the intent of making it a sort of biological Kevlar, at the testing ranges.. it was assessed the hide was able to stop 80% of .35 caliber rounds. Mind you, it still retained its sensitivity, so it would likely still sting like hell to be shot. The intent however, wasn't to provide the Chairman comfort when shot as much safety. The patterning in the scaling had become very interesting. His back had the distinct markings of a rattlesnake. On his forehead, as designed, the scales turned white, making a star, in the middle of the star, a brown cross.

To test regeneration, a bit of the chairman's pinky digit on his left hand was cut off. Sure enough, over the course of a day or so, the limb regrew. "This is coming along very well." Karnell murmured to the rest of the Saborian team.

Generosa just nodded.

"I think we'll be able to get him out of the tank soon. most of the structural changes that are intended have been completed." Karnell informed him.

Koudoa tapped Karnell's shoulder, "Can you change me to? I don't want him to be alone in what he is."

Journal Entry: KJE-HML-134

"A deep analysis of wing to weight ratios and bodily metabolism indicated that the technical know-how to give the subject potentially viable wings is currently at a technical deficiency. However, we are giving him the chest muscle and skeletal structures to support them in the event that such technology does become available. Right now it is theorized the caloric intake required by the wing muscle system on such a large body mass would be far to high to be efficient and would exert to much strain on the cardiovascular and pulmonary muscles of the subject. Variation strain 'Homosapien Mutato ad Libitum' appears to be an overall success. It is very likely, a new era of humanity may soon be upon us. The wife of the subject has also asked to be modified. It would produce a self-sustaining and viable species." Karnell would sigh softly, then look back to Chairman Vortex. "I almost wish I were in there."

OOC: I'm fairly sure the mods said "humans only". The ability to evolve someone into a dragon-like-form without years of genetic manipulation over generations is IMPOSSIBLE with technology that is available in CNRP.

Hell, it takes generations to turn hemp into a plant with enough TCP to make someone high, and you're trying to turn a person into a dragon in one lifetime?

ooc: Ubie, as I already said to Terra, already got approval on this and told the requirements to do it by a moderator. Which is why I'm in Saboria. It's not possible on a mass scale. You can't have armies of these creatures. Besides, the hemp plant analogy is totally off, that's breeding. We're not using genetic breeding.. we're using genetic re-programming. It's a completely different type of genetic based technology which takes some root in nanotechnology and virology. If you have further complaints, feel free to use the OOC thread please.

OOC: It would get buried in the OOC thread. I'll be quiet if I see some sources that say this technology is possible before the year 3000.

If you can't find any good sources, I'm putting you on my ignore list for sheer absurdity.

ooc: The only reason it isn't possible in reality before 3000, if not before 2050 is due to the fact that most western societies that currently have access to the potential for this technology are so hamstrung by ethics, religious, and political concerns that little to no headway can be made due to all the bureaucracy. In Saboria and in the Empire, these resistances are gone and the government is encouraging this type of experimentation. I don't care if you ignore me or not Ubie, all you do most of the time is harrass me in the threads I write anyhow.
