OOC: This is a private 1 vs. 1 war, I will not be activating my treaties nor will the person I'm attacking be activating theirs. This war has been thought out since December. Have fun observers! B)

*** Private - Merdica, Tanis ***

In the Presidential Mansion, General Makvel sat at the desk, observing the local news. He sipped on his morning coffee, and that's when a lone colonial entered the room.

"General Makel."

"Yes Colonial? What the situation?"

"Nothing sir. Just wanting you to know that with the Dragon Empire dispatch, we've gone to DEFCON 3. We have perfect cover right now."

"Excellent, start Operation Sidewinder immediately!"

"It will be done sir."

General Makvel pounded the desk, "I will NEVER forget, nor forgive what they've done to me!"

The startled colonial left the room partially thinking the something about the his general's past disturbed him so much so that it warranted war. He flipped through the manila folder that got handed to him classified "TOP SECRET" and started to pour through 'Operation Sidewinder'. And what he found shaken him to his core with words like "Emperor Mykep"... and "Forever Battlefield" ... and "Classified Experiment/Operation"

He mumbled to himself, "What the... hell?"

The shock eventually wore off the colonial. And he had a job to do... or he would find himself probably in a casket six feet under, a thought he shudder at. He was sworn to secrecy of the entire operation, so much so that knowledge of the operation had to passed by word of mouth or by secure military mail. Since the DEFCON 3 alert was in effect, the colonial had already 20,000 troops at his disposal. He issued a few written orders to be delivered by helicopter to all military bases in Tanis to prepare them for war.

Afterward, he went to the Port of Merdica and had 'a little chat' with the cargo shipping company there.

The colonel forcefully commandeered several cargo ships for the upcoming operation. Since the Republic of Tanis had no standing navy, they planned to go disguised as commercial vessels en route to the Northern Empire. He planned to load up the 20,000 troops alerted to active status to board the boat immediately. Meanwhile, he has his personal stuff, assigned by the general, to figure out the logistics of getting another 80,000 troops aboard within the next 72 hours. Timing was everything right now.

"Colonel."

"Yes Major Saty?"

"We have a 'problem' sir."

"And that is..."

"Oh sorry... it's air support sir. We don't have anything to provide air cover."

"Well damn, we'll have to ship our air support in the ships then won't we. Do it."

"But... but..."

"Don't give me but's, I want it done now, you understand?"

"Indeed I do sir."

"Then what the $%&@ are you standing around me still for?"

The major ran away to get this new order done. The colonel watched as the new T-20 Sundra Main Battle Tanks, APCs, self-propelled artillery, and other assorted vehicles boarded the vessels. 72 hours before we get this show underway he thought to himself.

Up in the Northern Empire, The harbors on the Eastern Shore were prepared ot recieve any other unmarked vessels coming from the Southern Pacific simploy for the week to determine if it was from The Dragon Empire. Military Occupation of these ports were made to make sure anything unmarked and NOT sweets from the Dragon Empire, made its way back to where it came from.

OOC: Mykep, thats meta gaming. You can't do that unless you know that they are being smuggled in containers, which you don't know IC.

You don't even know you are going to be attacked IC.

OOC: Quest approved of it. Also, http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=44628 Mael is sending me unmarked packages from the Pacific and Indian Ocean, thus why my small, but visible presence is there.

IC: 25 men were assigned at each port(13 of which are able to load the massive crates) with 100 each on reserve duty.

OOC: The other thread with Mael makes his post here complete sense now. Bed time now...

It took a little bit longer to load everything onto the boats, especially for the cargo ships holding the tanks, since they needed to be modified for the tanks for rapid deployment. A big ramp was built to accommodate the plan for the tanks and other motorized vehicles. The ships carrying the troops off to Siberia, totaling just over 85,000 were already heading out between Whimisical Nation and the Dominion of Velvika. From there, the convoy of harmless commercial ships, some disguised as container ships, would sail past the south end of the Philippines Freestate out into the western Pacific Ocean. Ships holding tanks, helicopters, and fighter jets sailed on bulk cargo ships, their storage area empty to hold the secret military cargo. They sailed with the flag of the Republic of Tanis acting as an innocent commercial ship.

Meanwhile, B-52 bombers were ordered to takeoff for an unknown destination within 12 hours from Tanis. As this occurred, several T-767 tanker aircraft took off with F-15 Eagle escorts towards an appointed airborne refueling area just east of the Philippines Freestate in international airspace.

OOC: Took awhile to find a place to land to be able to move from. Siberia isn't noted for being flat...

IC: The commercial ships sailed into the Sea of Okhotsk, towards the port of Magadan. (OOC: Some port, IRL) The ships sailed into the port without incident, but as they closed into the port, five of the ships opened up their large cargo holds. Heavily armed Mil-24 "Hind" gunships with AH-64 Apache attack helicopters lifted out of the ships and headed to open fire on enemy positions at the docks. Five Mil-24s headed straight for the nearby airfield to secure it for airborne operations.

The attack was swift with the helicopters attacking anything that fired upon them. Shortly after, the some of the ships docked. The first to leave were a detachment of 8,000 men followed by 50 T-20 tanks and an array of mobile AA vehicles.

  • 2 weeks later...

Mobilization had occured. Troops were being brought back to the eastern bases of Siberia. Planes have started flying west to the Siberian airfields. Ships from the south had been brought north to cut off any more "civilian ships"

There was war.

General Redden and General Zherdev had been getting in thier uniforms. General Redden questioned the battle.

"So who are we fighting?"

"Troops from Tanis."

"Oh.."

General Redden closed his locker, chuckled and said,

"Tropical soldiers in siberia...thier testicles wont last a day."

The air assault against the nearby airport last several hours, eventually the forces of Tanis prevailed. It came at the price of 60 Tanisian dead and another 58 wounded. Soon afterward, the first landings of air support arrived.

2 squadrons of F-4 Phantoms along with 1 squadron of F-15D Eagles fighters arrived in Siberia. Along with them was 9 KC-767 tankers, 15 C-5 Galaxy cargo jets, and 2 bomber squadrons mixed with B-52s and F-111s. After a long flight, they were no option to be put back into the air immediately, but priority to get them back into the air was a must.

In the middle of town, a makeshift command center was established.

At the moment, just over 55,000 troops have disembarked onto Siberia, meanwhile 90% of AA defenses for the town and docks were in place. AA protection for the airport would be established soon enough.

General Broge commanding the troops here in Siberia was confident in his offensive on Northern Battlefield.

"This is General Broge, I want three brigades to hold the northern approach to the town with M-109 artillery support. Even though the geography there is mountainous, I want the arty to plug any enemy armor there."

"Yes, sir."

General Broge pointed on the map to areas to the west along the coast.

"You see these main road here brigade commanders? I want to put the heavy brigades down that roadway. Remember you probably experience heavy resistance from battle hardened Northern Battlefield soldiers, so stay on top of the game. Dismiss."

Even though sporadic firefights existed in the town, the crux of Tanis' forces advanced on the main highway along the coast that eventually lead to the UFE... but they were searching for a way inland.

Mountaineer soldiers climbed across the mountain ranges under the cover of snow. The squadrons organized into a scattered pack and would individually fight.

AA and AT as well as armor surrounded the invaded area and set up an organized perimeter. The soldiers knew the area and the climate. They were well prepared for any forcce coming at them.

At the same time, several ships have cut off supply lines between the invaded area and the rest of the ocean.

7 of Northern Empire's modified MIG 29s took off and shot down any planes loose of formation, this included heavily damaging the squadron of F-15 Eagles.

SS-1B Missile Launcher's designed for the lcimate and wind sent heavy missles over the mountain ranges and dissabled the AT set ups. The tanks would be rolling in soon and the counter offense would soon begin.

Meanwhile, Tanis' heavy armor cruised on the highway that led west of the town. Supported with about 20 AH-64s and 7 Mi-24s, the main offensive wave of 30,000 soldiers hit the perimeter that the enemy was setting up. Several M-270 MLRS fired minutes before, an attempt to soften up the defenses.

On the section, the fight was brutal, but the strength in numbers eventually overwhelmed that sector.

Higher up, the spotting of MiG 29s caught one squadron of E-15E Eagles off guard, which resulted in 10 losses. However, AA defenses lit up the area when notified of the airborne threat.

Soon afterward, F-4s escorted F-111s to target suspected SS-1B sites. Assisting them were several heavily armed Mi-24s. They experienced AA defenses, but they were partially successful.

As sea routes were blocked off, the essence of air lifted supplies were increased. Cargo lifted from Tanis was coming in at 3 hour intervals at the moment to compensate for the sea transport losses.

With the perimeter broken, the area began to sweel as the 30,000 or so soldiers poured out of the hole in defenses like a giant zit.

several SS-1Bs were taken out and this lowered the chances of hitting the enemies frontal assault. To stop their progression, cheap M1A1's held a line against them west of the perimeter break. Also, missles were fired to damage bridges and highways to lower the amount of ways west into the empire. It lowered thier enterances unless they headed south into the woods and used back roads which would take a day extra.

he few enterances left were being baracaded and stocked with Crusader tanks, AA and AT guns.

At the same time, The blockade had decided to begin firing bombardment at the captured ports damaging supplies and reinforcements.

A counter attack from the northern perimeter consisting of Gaurdian 03s as well as mountaineers provides for a suffient attack that provided limited casualties on both sides.
