While the tower is office space rented out to various corporations, the lower building sections attached to the tower are the new home of the Mietonka Port Authority.

News also out of Mietonka, the last crane on the conainer quays at the port has been upgraded to modern container crane styles.

In military news, the airforce is back to full strength after losing aircraft in the Dell Land Civil War. The airforce has also gone through an upgrade, as the aging Apache ground attack helicopter has been replaced with the MAMW MGAH-24 "Bactrian."

In military news:

Today, 1000 of our finest men, under the command of Maj. Gen. Abusameyyah, departed from the port of Mietonka for Heska with the intent of helping the government there quell a communist uprising. The entire empire shows their support of the men, who were seen off by the Kaisermelech himself. Citizens on the homefront have been asked to do whatever they can to support the troops.

OOC: Ah, but you forget, us Byzantines are ambitious. That's how we controlled much of Europe and the known world by then (and will someday). :awesome::ph34r:

OCC: One or two nukes will finish off your tallest towers. :awesome:

OOC: What about suitcase nukes?

OOC: Nothing gets by the Gizli Polis, NOTHING! :jihad:

OOC: Airport security, or border security, whichever is appropriate in a particular case.

OOC: This. Border security is very tight, while airport security is draconian. In the case of the latter, we now conduct body cavity searches, strip searches, thorough luggage inspection, metal detectors, and repeat body cavity searches, and as such. In the former, we have watchful armed border guards and vicious German Shepherd watchdogs and automated turrets.
