turtle the tortuga
I was reading through some posts and noticed that someone reported a post in a foreign language and the moderator replied that they gave a verbal warning. Is posting in a language other than English not allowed? I did read through Forum Rules and Guidelines as well as OWF specific rules and I saw no mention of language restrictions. I just want to make sure I understand the rule because I do tend to use languages other than English. Thank you.
Severus Snape
It is generally disallowed because most of our moderators cannot speak a dozen or more languages (I dare say none of us can, actually). To that end conversation held in non-English languages is generally prohibited, though an odd line, such as a proverb or somesuch, is usually allowed. andyt2k
It stops people, flaming and insulting etc in another language if a mod doesn't understand it then it would slip through (online translation engines are pretty unreliable) So in general it is discouraged
