Ahmed Castro
I just got this event: An unexpected drop in the price of oil per barrel has surprised your nation. Should you take action? The options were to release the oil, and get +3 happiness, or Build infrastructure within your nation to store the oil while it is cheap to buy. Citizen income -$2.00 ,Population happiness -2. Now, I checked what my infrastructure cost before I chose my response. I then picked the second option, hoping to get cheaper infra. The price stayed the same. Is this an error? Is the purpose of this event to trick people? What experience has every one else had with this event?
Smallfrog
If an event doesn't say it will do something, it won't. You should have picked the first option. All you will get is -$6 for the next month.
Ahmed Castro
Luckily, I had waited as close as I could to the event expiration date so that I wouldnt have that penalty for too long... So it saying "buy infra in your nation to store oil when its cheap" isnt supposed to elude that infra is going to be cheaper?

Cheap refers to the oil. Not to the infrastructure.
Pete Mardle
Unless it gives you the actual figures there won't be any effect. There's one about recession that says something like 'lower interest rates, happiness + 2'. You don't actually have to lower any rates, you just get that bonus if you choose that option. TheDave
Luckily, I had waited as close as I could to the event expiration date so that I wouldnt have that penalty for too long... But you'd have had the no response penalty, which is worse :|
Ahmed Castro
But you'd have had the no response penalty, which is worse :| Actually, in this case it wasnt bad at all. The no response was +1 happiness. But damn...this certainly sucks. I was saving for quite a number of days for this...then I come to find it was the poor choice. TheDave
Ah. I read it as the comma sepearting two seperate choices. I should have known that both were in option 2 as I had that event current when I made my post

Is the purpose of this event to trick people? What experience has every one else had with this event? I had this events about 3 times in my 283 day life and I always picked the +3 happiness option. And plus, if it said "build infra while its cheap," it would have said something like "decrease infra cost -5%" or something. Just my 2 cents or should I say, just my 3+ happiness! (its a joke)
Robertringtail
This is the most common event in the game. Its the only one I have ever seen and I have played CN off and on for a year.
