Whats a good site to design a flag from?

wikipedia, browse the flags of other states and pick one from there.

I've made an attempt, while i was bored, for Aqua Defense Initiative.

That was made more for a banner, so if you judge it as a flag, please don't take the text into consideration.

and another attempt for a flag, for my nation:

I just need to smooth the edges of that Confucian symbol.

^^ R&R's original (and current) flag dates back several years before we were even an alliance.

^^ This flag was originally our military flag

^^ This flag was an attempt to update our old flag but the membership wanted to stick with tradition. Instead this flag led to our alliance symbols which can be seen on the LEO flag and the SF banner.

^^ And finally our war flag, which honestly I'm not sure if I'm a fan of.

I think R&R is a perfect example of the proper use of lettering in a flag. Although the "potissimus optimus" slogan on the third flag is hard to read. It means "best of the best" I believe.

What are you guys opinion of the MK flag?

i love that military flag. And to be honest, i like old flag better than your current one.

And yes, your use of lettering is really good, just like Rwanda's old flag, the one with the "R" on the middle.

If you look at anything that his the R&R symbol on it, even from a distance you can tell what it is right away.

A perfect example can be seen with the Superfriends banner. Probably due to contrast of the white lettering. But the actual R&R lettering itself actually forms a distinct symbol of its own.

I suppose I should also give some credit. The Blue R&R flag and the new version with the star in the middle were both created by KCToker.

Our war flag was done by Bongo Shan. And the very first flag you see, that is actually our official flag and dates all the way back before R&R was even in Cybernations. We originate from the Americas Army R&R forums.

I wish I could remember who made the flag though. The veteran members of the AA R&R forums actually took the flag with them and we adopted it as our official flag. The person who created it never joined R&R and we actually had some old school R&R members outside of the alliance invade our forums at one time, lol.

Well enough R&R history, I hope the examples I gave can give people an idea of what to expect from a quality flag. The best flag is also the most simple flab, but it does require the right contrast and colors as well

I'm generous... I made a flag or two a few (2) years ago for a few things quite a while ago, so if anyone needs then, they can steal them ask to use them if they want.

My little sister inspired the last one so I'm horrendously biased in its favour.

I use stuff like zetaboards and its fine for an alliance board. All they need to do is bookmark it.

I thought the new one was too busy; way too many stars, and the wreath too detailed for a flag. And like the original one, there's no symbolism behind it (other than the Imperial symbol and the blue).

Though I would prefer it without the creases, it's simple, which for flags is a good thing.

Though the East German coat of arms is too detailed for a (correct) flag, it does look nice.

I made it using paint for an alliance (called "Bippy") that I am thinking about creating. The smiley's name is Bippy, the red represents the Red Team, and the black is for color contrast

I would advise that you keep the colors and design elements. Black red and yellow are a very strong combination. The simplicity of the flag is excellent as well. In combination, the colors and design elements have the potential for being a very memorable flag. If I was designing the flag, using your colors and elements it would look something like this:

With GiMP which is... not intuitive. Couldn't get the octopus completely black. Any help would be appreciated.

I think this is finished. I had to use paint and gimp because gimp (basic) doesn't have anything as radical as preset shapes. Why do that when you can make a circle by plotting lots of points and transforming them.

I still hate gimp. I may hate it less after reading the instruction manual.
