The cost is nominal to buy them back up to 0, although I think on principle I shouldn't have to ..... I don't understand how I possibly got to negative numbers to have to buy myself back out?? How does one have negative soldiers within their nation???

When was the aid you sent on 2014/12/23 accepted accepted? IIRC, soldiers on hand are only checked when the aid offer is made, not when its accepted.

Within a minute or two of being sent

Edit: actually, an hour give or take 5 minutes .. Looked at the wrong timestamps .. My most recent war expired already the update of the 22nd->23rd .. So he wasn't able to hit me after the aid was sent .. Edited by Rayvon

It is my understanding that when you send tech as aid, if the sender no longer has the offering aid, you are not allowed to accept the transaction and are asked to cancel the offer. However, when it comes to soldiers, the receiver is still able to accept the transaction, and if you no longer have the amount to cover it, you are sent into the negative and it's called a "national draft situation".

If the reason you didn't have soldiers to cover the transaction wasn't due to losses from ground assaults, did you possibly deploy military after you sent the aid? I would think the game should recall deployed troops home if this is the case, but in your case it didn't. Maybe the game allows deployed soldiers to count for foreign aid transactions, but only pulls defending soldiers to cover it, which would undoubtedly be a bug.

Nope, I didn't do a deploy within that hour from when it was sent till accepted. My war screen was all expired out.

That last bit sounds possible, the aid transaction looks at the "Number of Soldiers" versus the specific Defending, where my screenshot still shows that 1127. I agree, it should bring troops home if that is indeed where the negative count resulted from.
