Railways Unbound

 

All Major Railway projects minus the underwater tunnel connecting Mecklenburg-Vorpmmern to mainland Sweden were announced to today that they had been finished. While minor railways were still under going construction with connecting the smaller cities, towns, and villages to the major ones, these once were considered a lower priority. It was now possibly to take a train from Helsinki all the way to Denmark.

 

Trenches and Foxholes

 

The Nordisk Military with understanding of how future battlefields would be fought have issued each soldier to carry as standard equipment an entrenching tool. This was seen as a necessary expansion of the military budget due to the likely high chance of war being fought in terrain that was heavily filled with mountains and hills and where the edges of the battlefield would only be a few miles long at best. The one chosen for service would be the one designed by Glock, the Feldspaten, and it would be pressed into service and manufactured in Nordisk Rike.

Rocket Program Increased

 

The Rocket Program that had brought the Mjolnir Rocket had finally increased the used Ballistic Missiles after numerous tests. There would be three new Ballistic Missiles would be modified from there original purpose of nuclear warhead carrying Missiles to be utilized for for cluster munitions and to use the two new weapons that would be brought into usage by the Nordisk Military. They would go to the new research divisions, the Biological Warfare, and the Chemical Warfare Research Divisions. With research still underway, none of those payloads would be made available.

 

The first Ballistic Missile to be rolled out is the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-36_(missile)]Ragnarok[/url] which would be based on SS-18 Mod 5 and would feature the very impress range of 16,000 km's. These would be silo based weapons and would be strategically placed across the entire Rike with their location withheld from public knowledge. Production would begin instantly on them as part of the Military's acceptance of their use.

 

The Second Ballistic Missile that would be authorized for production and would go into full swing after much testing would be the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-36_(missile)]Ginnungagap[/url] which would be based on the R-36ORB model. This would give the Rike the capability to strike any nation that it at war with anywhere in the world since the missile lacked any range limitations that a none Fractional Orbit Bombardment System had. These would be silo based weapons, however they wouldn't be produced on the same scale as the the other Missiles due to the general consensus that a first strike weapon was not needed.

 

The Third Ballistic Missile that would be the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RS-24_Yars]Jormungand[/url] would be probably the most favored production run. It would be a road mobile Missile and would be launched from an LEV. It would be used a theater of operation weapon, with the ability to deploy anywhere in the world and have the ability to launch from anywhere in the world. This would provide them with a high level of mobility to deliver their payloads.

 

As part of the missile program expansion, an order would be placed to double the current Mjolnir missile stock. This was to increase its capacity to field a much larger short range missile weapons system to deal with the more localized problems that the Rike had to deal with.

 

Svalbard

 

The Government had deployed 5,000 men reassigned from the Sverige Defense Force to Svalbard as military construction began to happen on the Island itself. One of the military projects underway was to build a military port there that would allow for Nordisk Vessels as well as allied vessels would have the ability to dock there to refuel and resupply should they need to. As part of this military port construction, a major part of the dock would be hidden entrance ways to underground Submarine Pen. This would allow the Nordisk Rike to ability to deploy its deadly Submarine fleet anywhere within the Arctic Ocean. 

 

The second part of this military movement would be to turn Svalbard into a Fortress Island. This would  include defensive walls, underground bunkers, machine gun posts, hidden artillery spots for the deployed artillery crews across the island. All defensive structures would be camouflaged from the air and all beaches would have target trajectories for all artillery to zero in on, in the event of an invasion. There would also be numerous fixed concrete defensive structures for the Stridsvagn 103's to deploy into to fire from secret as direct line of sight defensive weapons.

The real purpose of the defensive efforts being built in Svalbard was for the building of ICBM Silo's. There would be heavy construction towards building these missile silo's in secret. While the mainland wouldn't see a huge amount of ICBM's the Island Svalbard would be turned into a giant missile platform which could launch the Ragnarok Missile to most places on the planet. The only people that knew what was going up there were would be the Nordisk Rike High Government Officials. Construction would be done in parts by different companies so as to keep any involved in the construction of the silos a secret as to what they were. The final parts such as installing the machines and computers would be done by the actual crews that would be manning these ICBM Silo's.

Northern Passage

 

 

All of these construction efforts were being with the Northern Sea Route finally being open most of the year to Commercial Vessels. This new shipping lane would heavily reduce the shipping time from Asia to Europe, and would provide an easier and safer route for goods transportation than the old route through the Suez Canal. The Nordisk Government would announce since it controlled the gateway between Svalbard and Norway that the transports would have to go through, they would maintain that this traffic region would be free from trade tarrifs to promote the trade fleets to sail through this passage. It would also be investing a level of its own money in which it would supply a civilian fleet of icebreakers in which it would make sure that the shipping lanes stayed open all year round and there wouldn't be a huge fear of ever having ice blockages. It would also promise that it would work with the East Asian Imperium to keep their end of the trade route free from tolls and open for trade and commerce.

Svalbard

 

The troops stationed there would begin to dig a massive tunnel network into the mountains and hills, these would also be connected to the Submarine pens that were being built underground. The entire network of tunnels would have numerous connections to each other, and it would be easy to get lost down there without proper training on how the subterranean fortress was setup. The next stages for the protection of the island would begin by camouflaging all the buildings and infrastructure network from viability from the air. These would include the ventilation systems that would allow the filtration of fresh air into the tunnel networks, even in the event of an attack on the surface.

Alvonian Collapse

 

With the Collapse of the Alvonian Government, the Nordisk Rike Government would provide sanctuary to all the government officials and high ranking military personnel. As part of the of the effort to maintain peace in turbulent times, the Battle Group Hati would invade across Northern Poland, taking the regions of West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, and Warmian-Masurian. These Provinces would be invaded under the idea of integration into the Rike.

The Battle Group Skoll would quickly move in to put down any unrest in the rest of the polish provinces. The would also station themselves on the border with former Alvonia Germany and Alvonia Austria in preperation for any need to quickly strike into those regions at any hostiles that might emerge from the wood works while the troop movements were in place.

Greenland

 

With the collapse of the Confederacy and the deployed troops already staged in Greenland, the Nordisk Rike Government would officially announce its formal protection of Greenland. As part of this initiative the Nordisk Rike Government would give full naval basing rights to all of its current allies. It would also withdraw its fleet back to the homeland with the dispersal of the Confederacy Fleet. This would leave the Battle Group Freki with half its forces deployed in Iceland, the other half in Greenland.

France

Public Decree from the Krigsherre

 

It has become apparent from the complete collapse of the French Government that the Nordisk Rike finds itself presented with a dilemma. It seems forces wish to tear apart the very foundations that had made the French Empire which it was. At this very moment a Transitional Government of Rebels, Radicals, and Traitors to the French Nation have formed an alliance in which they intend to kill the very people that were the back bone of the French Empire and would serve best in running the country. This is of course only after the tragedy and murder of the former French Empress. We know that she would not have wanted her nation torn apart and split between numerous factions, especially a faction that is built on alliances of different ideals that would change the very nation she built with her own hands. This we cannot allow and officially the Nordisk Rike declares war against the French Transitional Government, and Recognizes the Nationalist Forces in Northern France as the one, and only true Government of the French Empire. We will send our sons and daughters to war to protect the nation of France from falling in the hands of Radicals and Extremists that would wish to disrupt the very fabric of Europe if they would gain victory and take control of France. We will stand strong and resolute and we will put down this threat, and restore peace and harmony to France, and to the continent of Europe.

Military Expansion

 

With the recent budget increases to the Defense Budget due to the declaration of war, the Nordisk Military would conscript 130,000 soldiers into its military. 30,000 would be deployed to Northern Germany to be part of the Swedish Pomerania Defense Force. 50,000 would be deployed to Iceland to be the Iceland Defense Force, and the other 50,000 would be deployed to Greenland to make up the Defense Forces there. Battle Group Freki would be recalled to Scandinavia to await further orders from the Nordisk Government.

 

Svalbard

 

Construction of Fortress Svalbard would be completed, with minor expansion projects still being conducted, the first ship of missiles would arrive in secret through the submarine pens, and be transported through the underground tunnels to be set up and prepared for operational use.

 

Missile Program

 

The first batch of Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles would finish production. The Rike would deploy through Mainland territories of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland 500 Jormungand Missiles Systems. Across the Silo's built in Svalbard, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland would be deployed 250 Ragnarok Missiles. In the Silo's of Svalbard would be deployed 100 Ginnungagap Missiles.

Baltic Sea

 

With Peace with Alvonia secured, the Nordisk Rike would lift all previous restrictions it had placed against the nation of Alvonia. All Alvonian shipping would be allowed reentry into the Baltic Sea. As a secondary part of the peace agreement the Rike would await for both parties to send them documented proof of damages done where upon which the Nordisk Rike government would have their analysts calculate the costs of those damages and would compensate both parties based on their damage assessments.

Nordisk Rike Military Research and Development team would begin conducting experiments on creating a new large explosive none-atomic bomb. The project would be given the nickname the Allfather, and research would be put under way within secret research facilities within the interior mountain ranges of Scandinavia.

Total Belorussian damages would add up to 5 BYR, the money that had been spent on that one postcard that had been sent to Alvonia.

Victory in France!

 

With the collapse of all French Factions operating withing the borders of France and the collapse of their respective armed forces operating in the region has given a surprise victory to Nordisk Rike soldiers. A complete occupation of the country was put underway as the government of the Nordisk Rike would declare the entire country a Rike Protectorate. As part of this the oil fields that French Companies had founded around Greenland would instantly be seized and brought under government control of the Nordisk Rike. East Asian Imperium troops would be given an hour to begin evacuation of French Soil or they would be fired upon by the Rike's Soldiers.

 

Belorussian Reparations

 

The Nordisk Rike would pay out the requested amount of money to the Belorussian Government for damages received during its war with Alvonia.

We must decline your request to have us leave. We are already in France and we haven taken control of the country with the collapse of the factions fighting for control of it. We are now here to stay and we will govern this Protectorate as we were the only ones that took part in the combat that had taken place here. No Alvonian Soldier will enter our Protectorate.

The RIke has proven itself to be indifferent to the will of the French people at best, outright ignorant at worst. No, Alvonia will not allow her closest and most trusted ally to fall into the hands of a nation that has shown itself to actively act against Alvonian interests. Heer troops are already crossing the border at Baden-Wuerttemburg, and will not stop in face of Rike troops and will respond if fired upon. If the Rike wishes to avoid a deadly and inevitable conflict with the Alvonian Wehrmacht, it will withdraw from France and will allow East Asian Imperium and Alvonian troops to secure France and find the legitimate heir to the French throne.

 

To decline or otherwise respond in the negative will not do for Alvonian-Nordisk Rike relations.
