I dont really think we even need a map tbh, just a list of who owns what systems is fine.

But we do need a map to know where those systems are. However, we don't need knights to be the mapmaker. Edited by Mr Director

There's a map in the first post.  I should have everyone up.

So a couple things:

The Death Star:  Tywin can have a death star planet, but its hyperdrive/most engine power and super laser are permanently gone.

In regards to warships.  What I am thinking is this:  Planets each can support 4-6 ships of the line fully loaded.

Ships of the Line for this era are equivalents of MC-80s and Imperial Class Star Destroyers including all fighters, support craft, troops etc.

If you want to build a star dreadnaught it takes the space of 4 of those ships.  If you want to field a Executor size ship its worth 6 of these ships.  Victory, Venator, and equivalent heavy cruiser ships as well as big carriers but lightly armed are worth about 2-3 per line ships.  Frigates and corvettes 10-12 per line ship.   I don't want to give hard and fast stats, and I welcome input of others but I think we should all try to plan around that model.

I welcome others thoughts.

How come frigates and corvettes are worth more line ships than an SSD?

Unclear writing on my part.  You can have 2-3 cruisers or 10-12 frigates in exchange for 1 line ship.  You can have  6 line ships for 1 star dreadnaught.

That is insufficient assets to do much more than defend a single system during a war, the Imperial Navy alone had 25,000 star destroyers, and a single sector group usually was composed of one to two dozen capital ships.

That is insufficient assets to hold anything more than a system successfully, the Imperial Navy alone had 25,000 star destroyers, and a single sector fleet usually was composed of one to two dozen capital ships.

And the original Galactic Empire had a few hundred major worlds. But this is somewhat true, and maybe we should change the system to say... eight line ships per planet.

I'm boiling down the points system I created before and eliminating the direct wargaming element since everyone hates math. Here's my suggestion:

Starting Points: 1000

FLEET ASSETS (full complement or specialized)

Dreadnought: 400 points

Capital: 100 points

Cruiser: 50

Frigate/Escort/Transport: 20 points

Hyperspace capable elite starfighter squadron: 10 points

SYSTEM ASSETS

Planetary/Orbital Defense Cannon: 50 points

Bombardment-Resistant Planetary Fortifications: 50 points

System-Based defensive starfighter squadrons: 5 points

Combat Division: 2-5 points (based on ability)

Thoughts and comments? Triyun mentioned something about assets per planet, so we might have to incorporate points rewards for controlling systems (50-500 points based on importance of system)? Should there be a points cap (3000 points perhaps)? Minimum forces posted per system? Spyrolls to force reveal system compositions?

The 25000 number is something of a outlier in the numbers people had, in the books, games, TV Show, and most importantly films we never see fleets of thousands of ships.  1 Star Destroyer is supposed to have the resources to independently dominate a moderately defended star system.

There will never be points, so stop.

Why do you insist on such a crude system of procurement?

lol, so this is why Triyun wants everything to be so vague:

Fleet Arm:

18 Imperator II Class Star Destroyers

6 Immobilizer 418 Interdictor Cruisers

6 Acclamator I Class Assault Carries

10 Nebulan B Frigates

12 Lancer Frigates

So much for six capital ships per player

Setting up to create a bad guy character.. myself.. and I don't mind falling when I play a bad guy, so feel free on planning to beat the hell ot of me.. contain me.. whatever. I intend on making a big of a mess along the way as possible however.. THE GREAT SCOREKEEPER DEMANDS IT! Anyhow.. yeah, I'm playing a sith experiment.. this is going to be hillariously entertaining.

Here is a revised, even simpler point system to help. This really needs to be set in stone so certain people can't roleplay themselves fanciful powers.

Starting Points: 1000 regardless of number of planets

ONE FORCE USER

(Jedi, Sith, Dragon, Captain Hawaii etc)

FLEET ASSETS (full complement or specialized)

Dreadnought/SSD: 500 points

Capital: 100 points

Cruiser: 50

Frigate/Escort/Transport: 20 points

Hyperspace capable elite starfighter squadron: 10 points

SYSTEM ASSETS

Planetary/Orbital Defense Cannon: 50 points

Bombardment-Resistant Planetary Fortifications: 50 points

System-based Space Station: 100 points

Defense cannons like the Hoth Ion Cannon provide superior defensive firepower against enemy warships, while planetary fortifications render ground-based armies resistant to orbital bombardments and air attack.

Space stations can specialize as massive orbital starfighter bases, construction and refitting yards, experimental platforms and powerful defensive installations (such as a hyperspace and superlaser stripped death star).

No read what I said.  1 Imp Star Deuce is worth more than smaller ships.  4-6 ships of the line per planet.  Now stop or get out.

Is it too much for people to just have fun anymore? Apparently so...(goes on rp'ing as Mandalore not giving a f$%^)

GO FOR IT!
