"Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Have to, no other way we can live on the surface without fear."

"Don't say I forced you into it."

"Well technically I don't get much of a choice, It's what I am here for."

"I always did make effective arguments."

A Secure Message would be sent to Athens, bounced off multiple satellites from a dozen different nations, originally sent from a tor network which keeps no logs, should a tracing attempt be made, the original IP using the most advanced tracking technology would appear to be Drakan in Origin.

"It has come to my attention that the decades of jailtime and then the attempted murder of myself in a plane crash was not satisfactory to atone for my alleged crimes, and that Tianxia and Athens have requested in a recent African meeting that I put myself up for trial, should this be a public trial with full disclosure to the global society, I would be happy to make my way to Athens to stand trial for the accusations against me.

The message came as quite a surprise to the officials at the Ministry of Justice which despite keeping the investigation ongoing had not expected to ever close the case. With the proper checks made at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of General Affairs and of course the Office of the Megale Autokrateira a formal response would follow.

Mogar,

As is mandated by the constitution of the Athenian Federation trials are public, as such should you hand yourself in to the Imperial Police Department a public and fair trial will be guaranteed. Of course this also includes unlimited access to the trial for international parties.

On behalf of the Athenian Federation,

Alicia la Guardia,

Magistrate of Justice

Two weeks later a moderately sized yacht Natalie Faust arrived into port at Piraeus, it was marked as an American Commonwealth ship, all the required paperwork was in the vessel. He paid for 3 months of dock fees in the civilian port. with instructions of how to contact someone for further payment and retrieval should he not return by then. He spoke fluent greek so it was rather easy to hail a cab and get to a bar near the Federal Office he had intended to turn himself into custody. He ordered the usual tall glass of Jack and watched the TV that was on over the bar, it was election time in Athens. He smiled at the thought of potentially being used as a pawn in someone else's political game, the irony was quite palatable. Of the three options only one seemed like an actual leader, the Spaniard seemed like a Thug, and the New Democracy party seemed like they simply wanted to bury their head in the sand, The world's a much darker place than the picture Petros was painting, you can't be a leader and expect everyone else to solve the world's problems. He was most surprised by the fact Underwood seemed to be the best choice and was technically a "foreigner", perhaps more nations could learn from the openness that Athens appeared to be displaying by having a man like that as their potential leader.

An hour of drinking and he was finally ready to face the potential life sentence. Walking the few blocks over he opened the door to the government building, walking up to the woman sitting at the front desk "Well hello there beautiful, do you know who I am?"

The reality was that the moment Mogar entered a cab the massive facial recognition network was already running through the database. It would take less than a minute before the IPD field office was notified, rather than moving in immediately orders from the Ministry of Justice had been issued that if Mogar were detected within the Athenian Federation he was to be given 24 hours to report himself before the IPD was to move in. As such they would simply keep a watchful eye on his movements.

Once he walked into the field office the IPD was already waiting for him and would move in mere seconds after he approached the woman behind the front desk.

"Put your hands on the desk slowly!" the lead agent yelled, the moment Mogar complied other officers would search him for any weapons or other illegal devices followed by placing him in cuffs.

"Mogar you are under arrest for attempted nuclear terrorism, crimes against the Athenian Federation and her allies, slavery, human trafficking, trafficking in illegal narcotics and escaping Imperial detention. Under the constitution of the Athenian Federation you have several rights amongst others the right to a speedy trial, adequate time and facilities to prepare your defence, to defend yourself in person or by legal counsel of your own choosing or if you do not possess the means for one a state-provided alternative, to examine witnesses against you and call witnesses of your own and to receive free assistance from an interpreter if you do not understand any part of the proceedings. A copy of your full array of rights will be provided to you. Do you understand your rights and the charges against you?" The lead agent said as Mogar would be taken to one of the cells inside the building awaiting his transport to Athens.

  • 2 weeks later...

He paced in the cell, incredibly bored, the first hour he spent calculating the pores in the concrete blocks that made up the cell, the next day was spent counting them, he was within fourty six, not incredibly terrible considering it was a seven digit number. The white concrete was designed to desensitize you, quite effective, even if you were aware of it. He would have preferred a mental ward, the pale green was much relaxing. He smiled to himself, perhaps the guards watching would have noticed, but the thought was entertaining, perhaps a mental plea would get him out of here alive, but it would ruin the whole plan, nobody's gonna support a leader who is certified crazy.

Regardless of the result of the trial, he contemplated how long he would sit in here, from memory he was in Athenian jails for at least a decade last time, he hoped it would be sooner than that before the trial began.

Following a few days of detention in Piraeus while authorities prepared for a transfer to Athens Mogar would be blindfolded and escorted outside into an armoured vehicle. From there under escort by several vehicles of the IPD and drone surveillance via the Hellenic Air Force he would be taken to the maximum security facility just outside Athens pending his arraignment before the Imperial Court. Per the stipulations of these maximum security facilities he would be cut off from the world outside the walls entirely and only his legal representation would be allowed to visit him.
