Kevin Kingswell Posted May 22, 2014 Report Share Posted May 22, 2014 Vladimir had heard of the rise of a collection of the old nations in the middle east area of the world and though he had been comfortable to stay for the most part away from international politics the ramifications of a strong middle east was too strong to ignore. With such importance being put on having a strong relation with the middle east Vladimir made the choice to attend to the negotiations in person leaving the daily running of the Philippines to his staff. Vladimir would board his private jet along with Natasha who had made it quite clear she would not allow him to go without her being by his side. As the private jet took off from the Phyrus international airport Vladimir would lean back in his expensive seating and pick up the on board telephone and contact his staff members back in the homeland to ensure they knew he was still watching. That done he would return the phone to its cradle and turn his attention back to Natasha who had curled herself around him as she sat in his lap. A few hours later the private jet would approach New Babylon air space broadcasting that it was a civilian Philippine jet belonging to the President Vladimir Kuchenkov and that he was on board and that they wished to land so that the President could meet the New Babylon government in the hopes of getting to know them and to discuss diplomatic relations in person. On its arrival, the delegation would be given a military escort to the Imperial Palace and taken inside to be greeted by a minder who would deliver them safely to one of the many offices in the Foreign Affairs department of the Palace. Deputy Minister Ishtar Kinaa would be waiting for the President. "President Kuchenkov, a pleasure to meet you. My name is Ishtar Kinaa, one of several Deputy Ministers who deal with Foreign Affairs on behalf of his Holiness the Emperor who apologises for not meeting you in person. He is presently indisposed." he said politely, offering her hand and then gesturing towards the table behind her. "Help yourself to food and drink and then take a seat" he said, picking herself up a glass of water and taking a seat. "To what does the Empire owe the pleasure of your visit Mr President?" Whilst Vladimir concentrated on the Babylonian woman who he would be talking to while Natasha kept a constant look about the room for any possible threats and dangers. Vladimir would take the woman's offered hand in greeting before replying to her. "The Middle East has always been an important part of the globe in times of the past and I wished to come here personally to see if we couldn't establish good relations between our two nations that would hopefully be profitable for us both." "Apart from the damn big spider behind that desk over there, you are fine." she said laughing a little as she pointed to a desk unit on the far end of the room by the window. "Mr President, tell me quite plainly what you wish to achieve from a relationship with the Empire. What can we offer you?" she continued. "Whilst the Empire is always happy to recieve friends for the sake of friends, don't get me wrong, there has to be something we both need or want for this to be profitable Mr President." Vladimir would take a moment to think, inside he was pleased at how direct Ishtar was being with her questions as he valued directness highly having no time for games. "I aim to come away from this meeting having achieved two things madam. First I hope to have established a contact here who would likely be yourself and second I hope that New Babylon may be able to provide some form of support to the Philippines through shipments of oil which I am sure you possess in vast quantities. Though I noticed your industry is well established too and may be able to provide my people with all manner of superior goods unable to be found in the mainland." "Babylon can provide the Philippines with anything it requires Mr President. Fossil fuels, clean fuels, nuclear fuels. We can provide engineers to design and construct factories to provide work, or robotic machines to man the factories. We specialise in goods of a military application of an excellent quality. You have only need to ask and I am sure we can work something out that is to the benefit of us both Mr President". Ishtar smiled as she finished, standing and gesturing out of the window into a drill yard. "See for yourself" If the President cared to look, he would see a regiment of Imperial Guard in full battle dress, massive artilery pieces and several tanks. In the sky, a half squadron of F-14's would fly down low, seeminlgy inches over the rooftops of the lower Palace buildings. It would all seem very orchestrated, but at some point later in the day, the squadron commander would recieve a dressing down he would never forget for flying dangerously low and disturbing the Emperor in an act of recklessness. "This is all very impressive. Compared to you the Philippines is nothing but a mouse before a lion. Our technology is far from ever attaining this level and if New Babylon was to supply our nation I could see long term investment contracts for maintenance and replacements. "Even the mouse has a fierce bite" she said, raising her hand to show the scar she got from a mousebite in her youth. Whilst small, it had a deep purple tinge to it as deep scars sometimes develop. "Mr President, the Empire would be more than happy to provide your nation with whatever you require to reach the place you want the Philippines to be. Such an agreement ontop of a free trade and non aggression agreement would surely benefit us both equally. Do you have any specific requests or clauses?" "As for our agreement I can agree to it as well as a free trade and non aggression agreement. I think this will be a great start to increasing relations between our two nations don't you agree?" As for the agreements on the table, I believe they set down in the strongest concrete, a foundation for a relationship between the Empire and the Philippines. I am authorised to offer one more thing as a gesture of good will rather than anything official, a gentlemans agreement if you will. The Emperor is aware of the issues you are having with the Hawaiian state which can be described as nothing less than rogue, dangerous and borderline fascist. I offer to you now, should you be willing to accept, one squadron of Imperial B-2 bombers to act as deterrence against Hawaiian aggression until the first shipments of hardware reaches your nation along with the training staff, maintenance staff which will allow your nation to fully utiize some of the new equipment that we will be selling to you. These planes will of course be based at a Philippino airbase, be subject to Philippine laws and will leave the moment you request it. Please understand, this is a gesture of friendship and a commitment to the birthing of this new partnership, not a military alliance of any sorts." I assure you that this generosity will not be forgotten. I will gladly accept such a gentlemen's agreement. I shall inform the Ministry of Defence of the development and the aircraft should arrive in the next day or so, well, you know how paperwork can get and no military is efficient by a long shot, but we live in hope Mr President" said Ishar, laughing slightly as she finished. She produced a document which outlined the topics discussed including a trade agreement, a non aggression pact and signed it with a flourish of her hand before passing it over to Vladimir. "All military contracts should be sent via the Ministry of Defence who will oversee the production and speedy delivery, consider your first order on the house."
