The sudden movement of 90,000 active combat forces to the border with the Exarchate was disturbing to Athens to say the least, elements of the Hellenic Forces in the region were taken to high alert while a message was sent to the government of Rohan.

Communiqué from the Office of the Exarch of Africa, Natalia Romanova

To whomever it may concern,

The Exarchate of Africa has recently detected your sudden movement of 90,000 combat ready forces to your border with the Exarchate. We must inquire about your intentions, if they are peaceful we request you to immediately pull back the majority of those forces to guarantee the security and stability of the region. If there are hostile intentions we must warn you that any incursion into the Exarchate will carry significant consequences.

The 10,000 combat personal that was left at the border with Sudan would be further reduced to 5,000. Also the 25 artillery pieces would be pulled down to 15. With all of this being a show of good intentions.

After Rohan was warned by the Exarch of Africa to not assist The Cape. II corp is being pulled from the southern border and will be sent to it's home base.

III Corp moved into Eritrea today and has been spread thought the towns and cities of this small nation of only 6 million was quickly added to the kingdom of Rohan. Sir Romulus Deveantus has been appointed as Minister of Eritrea within the kingdom of Rohan. II second Corp has been put on high alert throughout Rohan. I Corp is being put on medium alert.

Unfortunately for the III Corp the Hellenic Forces had been in Eritrea for a decade now. Local officers were quick to contact the Imperial Security Council who confirmed the movements of Rohan via satellite feeds. A message from the Exarch to the government of Rohan was soon to follow.

You have been found invading the Exarchate of Africa, withdraw your forces immediately.

III Corp would move through the cities and kindly ask the Athenians to leave. No force would be used, rifles would be slung on backs, and tanks would not be operated. The officers of Rohan told the Athenian officers in Eritrea, "We don't need to make a large deal out of this. We don't want to fight. Just please leave, we need the ports."

Despite the ongoing internal problems Athens wasn't about to have the future of its own protectorate dictated by a micro power. Forces belonging to the III Corps would quickly be blocked as a dug in division belonging to the Hellenic Army on the border would prevent their advance. At the same time the decision was made that a military move was needed to show to Rohan the Athenians were fully willing to use force.

In line with this satellite surveillance had identified a base on the border with Eritrea used by the invading forces. A single FB-4 accompanied by four F-1s would penetrated Rohan airspace upon which point the FB-4 released four M-100s aimed at barracks and logistical support on the base. Great care was taken to select a base that would result in minimal collateral damage.

While your argument for coastal access contains merits the use of force without prior diplomacy have eliminated any chance of that being a result of this exchange. Withdraw your forces immediately or future strikes will follow.

"We attempted to contact Athens long before we moved forces into Eritrea, and you chose to ignore us. We don't understand why you are not just allowing us to annex Eritrea into Rohan. It doesn't have to be the big deal your making out of it."

The troops of III Corp didn't know what to do when the Athenian troops didn't move and they just scratched their heads thinking of non violent ideas.

"How can we trust and allow you to protect the people of Eritrea, when you refused to assist the people of The Cape during Drakan aggression. You can't and should not have to defend the entire continent of Africa. We are not saying you are weak but every now and then allow someone to assist in the burden. Our troops will not move out of Eritrea but they will not fight either. They will lay down their weapons. Go ahead, fight unarmed soldiers, way to protect the people."

With apparently no intention of forcing an advance and Eritrea entirely under Athenian control surveillance unit would continue observing Rohan's movements while the forces remained ready to strike the moment they decided to make a move.

Weapon would be put into crates as the soldiers walked the major cities of Eritrea assisting the civilian and handing out food and bottled water. The IV and VI engineer corp (unarmed except for small service pistols and a few swords owned by officers) would move into Eritrea and begin constructing and repairing light and heavy rail, bridges, and dams.

With Rohan forces refusing to leave the few parts of Eritrea they had managed to enter before the Hellenic Army jumped into motion and their apparent declaration to not resist the decision was made to proceed with a different course to secure the territory against these foreign invaders. Elements of the Hellenic Forces would move towards clusters of Rohan forces ordering them to surrender. If rejected the forces would be authorized to use non-lethal means of taking the enemy down while if resisted violently lethal force would be authorized. U-1s and U-2s would continue flying overhead to observe the movements and quickly pinpoint any additional forces crossing into Eritrea.

Those who did surrender would be taken to a POW camp just outside of Asmara.
