Jarl Frost
In an effort to continue to strengthen the Republik's geo-political influence, and to formalize economic relations to the continent, Congress has authorized continue diplomatic outreach. Today, the first of Madagascar's diplomats would go to Draka, the newly formalized government covering much of southern Africa, and Madagascar's main trading partner. Kolo Laurent, the chosen diplomat for Draka, would set out immediately towards the capitol Praetoria, full of hope and a desire for success. Malatose
Upon arriving in Pretoria, Madagascar's delegation would be welcomed to a rendition of their national anthem. After watching the short welcoming ceremony, Michael Koegnsburg, the Director of Foreign Affairs, reached forward to welcome his foreign counter parts. "Welcome to the Dominion of Draka. It's an honor and a privilege to have you here." Afterwards, he directed the men to the awaiting motorcade, where they'd take a nice ride through the Dominion's lavish capital. The ride would end at Koegnsburg's office, there the men would sit down and begin discussing future relations. "Again, I do thank you for visiting our fine country." Koegnsburg sipped from his glass of water, "So, how was your trip?"
Jarl Frost
"Short, given the distance, but pleasant. I noticed security is still being organized, which we are willing to help with, of course"
Malatose
Koegnsburg smiled, "Thank you for the offer; but rest assured, we have everything under control." He sipped from his glass of water, "So how is everything in Madagascar? I hope everything is going well. Success is always a good thing." Jarl Frost
"Things are alright; we are making swift and steady progress reforming the economy. That's why, interestingly enough, I am here. Your people are our primary trading source, and, I believe, it would be beneficial for both of us to, shall we say, formalize that relationship." Malatose
Koegnsburg nodded, "Hmm, perhaps an economic and mutual defense treaty? I believe both would benefit our nations to a great extent. What type of relationship did you have in mind?"
Jarl Frost
Laurent took a sip of his drink to clear his throat. "Well, given the instability going on further north, and the issues currently going on in Cape Town, you can understand any...hesitance we may have going straight for a alliance. Add as well that we have a very limited military operation and we find that a more militarized option isn't our wisest choice. We have a more 'Joint-security' resolution in mind, with a significant economic treaty backing it"
Malatose
Koegnsburg leaned forward, "Joint - Security? Please elaborate, I'm interested in hearing more. Also, we'd be in full support of an economic treaty between us."
Jarl Frost
"Yes, joint-security. Specifically, an agreement between ourselves to cooperate to protect our economic ties. We work together to ensure the stability of our respective regions, and those regions in which we have a direct interest in stability. It isn't mutual defense, or even a military alliance. It is just an agreement to cooperate on the stability of our regions so that the more important economic ties can flourish"
Malatose
"Do you have a draft of this document prepared?", asked Koegnsburg. "A treaty, such as this, does seem promising."
