Brief Description

The United Republics of Ontario (called Ontario for short) is a nation comprised of the union of 6 smaller republics inhabiting the region of Southern Ontario.  Socially, the nation is Social Libertarian with a large emphasis on individual freedom, while economically the nation runs a mixed economy.  Ontario's main economic sectors are manufacturing, finance and the service sector.  Increasingly, tourism is seen as a major industry in the area, while timber from the Northwest region of the nation is still a large natural resource.  Most agriculture takes place in the Southwest, where the population is less dense and growing seasons are slightly longer.

The Republics of the Union

Republics act much like provinces or states in other nations.  However, while there is no legislation on the matter, by convention they are looked at to be in free association with one another and general tradition and convention usually grant them a certain amount of freedom in the creation of localized law.
