Centurius Posted January 15, 2014 Report Share Posted January 15, 2014 Closed RP: Myself and cochin IC: It had been a few decades since the war but long before that was a time the Athenian and Cochin states were friendly, even reaching a state where positive relations were very much possible. With the newest incarnation of this ancient state remaining stable and a significant force on its continent it was time to return to the original times. As such a letter would be sent to the King of Cochin. To His Royal Highness Rama Varma, It is with pleasure that the Athenian Federation has witnessed the rise of the Kingdom of Cochin as a force of significance in Asia, there was once a time where our states were in significant talks relating to permanent agreements that would lead to greater economic benefit and military security. Despite the later fall-out and the sad war that eventually resulted from these differences it is our hope there may still be the possibility to return to those times. As such I would like to request your permission to visit the Kingdom of Cochin for diplomatic talks to see if we can salvage relations and return to a brighter future where the Athenian Federation and the Kingdom of Cochin can act as friends and allies. Centurius Posted January 15, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 15, 2014 Following the reply the Airbus Imperial Air 1 dedicated to the use by the Megale Autokrateira would depart from Athens AFB and head for the Kingdom of Cochin traveling via the Exarchate and over international waters to approach the Indian subcontinent, once in range the pilot would contact Cochin authorities and upon being granted permission head for the assigned airport. The plane would carry the Megale Autokrateira and a legion of aides while only a minimal amount of High Guard had been assigned to accompany her. The flight would be met by the Honor Guards of the 1st Armored Cavalry Regiment and welcoming the Megale Autokrateira would be VK Varma, the Minister of External Affairs. Due to extreme fog and chill weather of this January morning the ceremonies at airport would be dispensed with and a convoy of limousines would whisk the Athenian dignitary towards the Raisina Hill, where the former Rashtrapati Bhavan has now been renamed as the Raisina Palace, the seat of Government of the Kingdom of Cochin. At the Palace, liveried King's Guards soldiers would greet the Megale Autokrateira and her aides and she would be conveyed to the King's Office. The King of Cochin, His Highness Rama Varma, who is standing besides his ornate table would walk around and greet the Megale Autokrateira with a bow and would thus greet her, "Greetings Megale Autokrateira and welcome to the Kingdom of Cochin. I am very grateful to the Her Imperial Highness Ariadne Notaras for initiating this resumption of diplomatic contacts. The Kingdom after its resurrection had been in an extended state of diplomatic isolation , initially as a necessity and more recently as a hinderance of our national growth. We are honored that our first diplomatic contacts are with your nation. It is true that our history has not always been a friendly one. There have been periods of trust and friendship interspersed with periods of mistrust and sometimes even outright enmity. However those histories of decades past are best left for the waning memories of history. Today I hope we can start a new page in the Cochin-Athenian relationship. After all, it had just been out of a pretty destructive war. What she saw today restored faith that evidence of even the worst disasters can be erased given enough time and work. She bowed slightly as she approached the King of Cochin. In the time of the last King we were concentrating too much into geographical expansion and geo-political power plays that were stretched our defenses too thin. Our strategic presence in Atlantic Ocean for one had been a terrible over reach and our venture in South America though started in humanitarian interests was ultimately our undoing. Though as a nation of the world we would still hold ourselves responsible for the global well being it is now our policy to do so with diplomacy rather than through test of arms. Our key interest at the present times is in trade relations with our friends and neighbors in the world. As the keeper of the keys for the continent of Europe Athenian Federation would be a unique ally for us in our trade and diplomatic endeavors." We hope to establish a substantial Cochin Chamber of Commerce at various consulates we hope to establish in Athenian Federation to showcase Cochin businesses. We are open to a Free Trade Agreement or a Reciprocal Trade Agreement depending on Athenian Federation's trade policies. We hope that could be a substantial foundation to build our diplomatic relationship upon. We are also open to greater strategic alliances. Convention on Mutual Defence and Optional Aggression between the Athenian Federation and the Kingdom of Cochin The parties; Recognizing the mutual friendship and trust placed in each other. Resolving to aid each other in the fulfilment of goals. Believing that is in the interests of both parties to enhance cooperation Have agreed as follows: Article 1 In line with the principles of mutual friendship and enhancing cooperation the parties agree to a policy of non-aggression in word and action. Any dispute is to be handled as discretely as possible. Article 2 Under the principles of sincere cooperation the parties agree to share any information which may be vital to the security of the other. Article 3 Should either nation state come under attack it is the obligation of the other to defend by any and all means available. This convention shall provide either signatory the right to join in a war of aggression launched by the other. Should either party fall under attack as a result of a previous offensive action the attack will fall under the optional aggression section rather than mutual defence. Article 4 The parties shall eliminate all barriers to trade with the other and facilitate the flow of trade via diplomatic means.. Article 5 1. The convention shall enter into force upon the signing by both parties and the ratification through any procedure as required by relevant laws. 2. After the entry into force either nation state may withdraw from the convention provided a month of notice is given. IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned Plenipotentiaries, being duly authorized thereto by the collective peoples, have signed the present convention.
