Both have accepted it and so VP Navar is now the President of Paraguay. She will nominate a deputy, but will have to be confirmed by the Chamber of Freedom. President Gomez has made this statement, "Through careful deliberation with my staff, and reflection I have decided to step down from my office. I feel that I can no longer lead Paraguay towards its best interests. As I have grown older, I too have increased health risks and can no longer serve out the rest of my term. I do not regret any of my decisions, as they were at the time, for the best interest of this country. I have full confidence in Vice President Navar to serve out the rest of my term for one year." - Former President Jose Gomez Vice President Navar will be sworn in this evening by Chief Justice Sylvia Warren. She has requested the entire Presidential Cabinet to resign in order to formulate a new administration to handle the changing times.
