Heading down for a midnight snack... and I can guess what kind

The treaty web being what it is, decisions to enter global conflicts can often seem difficult at first glance. This war is no exception, but careful consideration of our treaty commitments leads the Usual Suspects (Us) to a conclusion we cannot escape.

It should be no secret for anyone who has talked with Us in the lead-up to this war that we consider Polar has a legitimate grievance against NSO. In truth, if the political dynamics had remained unchanged, Us would likely have ended up on Polar's side on the balance of its treaties.

Those circumstances led to Polar relying on TOP's ambition and opportunism to change the dynamics. We do not fault Polar for this, nor TOP for using the situation to its advantage. But NATO and TIO would be blind if we did not acknowledge that the new dynamics resulted in our MDoAP partner NPO becoming a key target for this war, despite the initial declarations on NSO. This is also the first of the MD treaty obligations for Us that has been triggered, via indirect chains in support of TOP.

Faced with this reasoning, NPO's allies within Us are left with no choice but to make the same decision NATO made in the Dave War in supporting R&R against MK: to honour the first MD obligation to be activated at the request of a treaty partner, which occurred despite our best efforts to minimise conflicts of interest with other allies of Us.

NATO and TIO hereby declare war on Sparta.
