South Africa: Rhodesia Nyasaland becomes an independent country.

RADIO-RHODESIA NYASALAND interrupts this broadcast to bring you an important announcement. Few minutes ago the Union of South Africa recognized the independence of the newly formed nation presided by Ian Smith, who signed an Unilateral Declaration of Independence on September 22. After two days of vague talks between the two governments, Rhodesia Nyasaland becomes an internationally recognized state.

Rhodesia Nyasaland will be a Federal Republic comprising the lands of Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland. State President Smith congratulated with Prime Minister Wrathall and the speaker of the federal assembly van Verwoerd, who recently assumed the position as Interim General Governor of Nyasaland, for their efforts. He separately congratulated with Foreign Minister van Der Byl for not showing up under the influence of substances. Now, for the first time, we will play on this radio our national anthem.
