The Carolinas have long watched the great Kindom of Ireland in its actions. We have found your nation to have strong resolve and of good moral character. We would like to meet with your nation on the possibility of formal diplomatic relations and even the possibility of a signed agreement. I would like to personally make the trip to Ireland to discuss the possibilit of such things, if of course you will have us.
The Free Republic of The
Carolinas

Sir,

I would be happy to have you here in Dublin so we can talk. The King has long referred to your nation as the jewel of the East Coast. I am excited to see a nation of your economic position and strength come to us seeking diplomacy. Again, I invite you to the capital in Dublin - I look forward to seeing you.

Soon after Philips packed his bags and headed to Ireland. He hoped that his first diplomatic relationship would be a fruitful one. The higher ups have been pushing for this one. The private jet would take off from Charlotte Douglas Airport and touch down in Dublin a few hours later. The jet was streamlined with the Carolinian blue and white colors, as were the two VF-35 Vipers guiding him over international waters from the eastern Carolinian Air Force base. As soon as he landed a pitch black '65 mustang modeled limo pulled out of the back with the diplomat in the back seat and a Secret Service officer sitting on the other side of the back seating with a secret service driver. They would pull up to the pre-arranged building. As soon as he walked up the the Irish diplomat he would extend a handshake and introduce him self. "Thank you for having me here sir, this is really a beautiful country."

Christopher was waiting at the air port for Philips to arrive, "Welcome to the Kingdom of Ireland Mister Philips - glad to have you here!" They would take a short ride via government limousine to the capital where the King would be waiting to talk with Philips. Along the way Christopher would offer Philips water however when they made it to the palace all sorts of food and drinks were awaiting them. The room was decorated with an array of Irish and Carolinian flags to mark the national occasion. As they walked into the room King Anthony would be waiting there to shake his hand, "Please take a seat gentlemen."

"Thank you, it is a pleasure to meat you your Majesty. I have come here to discuss with you the possibility of open formal relations between our nations. We hold your nation as one of the few nations in this world still sticking to old fashioned politics, the kind without nukes. Now I have been given permission to go as far as an economic PIAT, with an optional defense clause. This would serve mutually beneficial for two growing nations such as Ireland and the Carolinas. We would also like to propose a research agreement between our two nations to work on blue water naval technology and tactics. As far as I am concerned Ireland does not have a functioning blue water navy yet. This would help your nation develop one more quickly and efficiently as the Free Republic Navy has seen battle." He was worried if he was being up front, he heard Irish Catholics are very blunt people, he was hoping this was correct.

The young King nodded, his blue eyes piercing into the diplomat's "I was hopping for an economical agreement because you know that Ireland is having some troubles with... food and fuel..." He thought carefully and continued. "Many people here would be too proud to accept aid so that isn't really an option but open trade is a good one to allow products to come into the market - honestly I'm more worried about the food then fuel but it seems we could settle that problem with this agreement before winter." Looking over an arrangement of fruits he handed the diplomat a plum and took one for himself, "And I like your suggestion for the Navy... Between you and me we have just finished construction of ten patrol vehicles which are now fully operational. They have been scattered in hidden locations but are ready for deployment... We can not have a fully functioning blue water navy at this moment, but I'd be open to researching a blue water navy with your government. Ireland has plenty of scientists here..." He finally set the fruit down on a plate and buttoned his coat, "I'd also be honored to enjoy a mutual defense pact... Do you have a treaty I could look at?"

The diplomat looked at the fruit, looked up trying to contain himself. 'Charlotte may kill me for this, but it can come out of my departments budget.' He thought to himself as he bit into the plum. "Well I am sad to hear that your nations is suffering like this. We have a foreign aid division for just such an occasion. It does not need to be aid, call it a gift or a loan. If you wish we can set that up in our treaty. We are also prepared for an economic treaty with your nation." The diplomat paused and handed the treaty draft to the young king.

King Anthony read it over and handed it to Minister O'Connell who also looked it over. He didn't find any problems or loopholes or fine print, it looked "legit". The King didn't have to much "traditional" clothing when it came to his dress even though he was doing his best to be a traditional King in a modern world. Across his chest was a green, white, and orange sash. It was the replacement for the royal crown which was occasionally worn in public but he usually refrained from. After about another minute of looking the diplomat in the eye Anthony nodded, "Very well then Mister Philips; you have yourself a deal." David pulled a pin from his hidden pocket in his jacket and signed the document.

"I am glad we could come to agreement, should you need anything feel free to contact my department." He stood and shook hands with the king as he left. He sent the treaty to the Carolinas electronically and it was ratified. Philips wasnt done yet, his next stop on the tour was Scotland, a tad different from Ireland but he would get used to the accents. As soon as he notified the foreign affairs department that he was done meeting with the Irish a message was sent to Scotland. The diplomat would rest in his hotel room for a day before flying to Scotland.

The Carolinas is currently in the process of aquainting with our European cousins across the pond. Mainly focusing on the British Isles. We would like to meet with your government on the possibility of formalized relations between Scotland and the Carolinas. I would be willing to make the trip there if you will have me.
A hand written letter from the Ard Rí's personal Drui (Druid) was sent in reply to Thomas Philips message:
Ambassador Philips,

The Ard Rí would be delighted to receive you in Kielder Forest Park, just on the English-Scottish Border. Makesure to bring a spare pair of clothes, its pouring rain out here.

Uisliu, Ard Drui na Alba
The diplomat would make his way over to Kielder Forest Park via his private jet. As soon as he got there he pulled out an umbrella and started heading towards the Scottish diplomat. He wasn't used to the weather but he heard that the Isles were rather wet most times of the year. He came prepared for that, missing the warm sunny weather in the Carolinas. As soon as he found who he was to be meeting with he extended his hand and introduced him self. "Thank you for having me here, my uncle was right about Scotland, beautiful culture here."

The Ard Rí trust a spear into Ambassador Philips outstretched hand. " Welcome Ambassador. Thanks for the complement. To be honest, I don't know which side of the border we're on. I've been chasing this deer for what feels like days. He has led me a stray, the dirty basterd. HA!" Flann had not shaven in a while so his beard was wet and tangly, as was his hair. " I'd drop that umbrella if I were you Ambassador. You won't be able to throw your spear properly. The deer is somewhere around us. Somewhere up ahead. We'll talk and walk. Whats on your mind?" Flann started moving forward. The foliage upon the ground made a crunching sound as he walked.

Philips was part Scottish, his father was from the island, he had never seen a Scot like this though, he certainly has never been spear hunting. "Well I am used to hunting with a rifle or a bow and arrow" he laughed "This will be a challenge" he paused to look around, a bearded man in hinting for a deer with a spear, and he was wearing a thousand dollar suit with $200 shoes. This he did not expect, but day one of diplomatic training, adapt. He began "The Carolinas particularly have seen the resolve of many nations in the Isles, we find this place most common with Carolinian politics, that is, classic reserved politics. We have been interested in a treaty with your nation involving trade, aid, and non aggression. Basically a PIAT treaty. It would serve well for a growing nation like your own." he was wiping the rain out of his eyes as he spoke. Getting used to the chilly wet weather.

" GRRRRAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" shouted Flann, as he threw his spear at a rustling bush. He charged after his weapon, pushing away the leaves and twigs which barred his way. " AHAHA! Got ya! We'll eat well tonight." Flann removed his spear from where it had pierced the animal. He then took out a dagger and cut the throat of the beast. As he did this, Flann whispered to the dear " Thank you." in a respectful, yet sorrowful, tone. " Sounds good to me Mr.Philips." Flann, sitting on the ground beside his game, pushed back some falling rain-soaked hair and looked up at the Ambassador. " What are the details?"

The screaming scared the mess out of the diplomat. Philips jumped back, though he couldn't contain him self from a chuckle from the extremely stereotypical Scot in front of him. Philips was a city boy so he didn't know much about hunting other then from his father, a stereotypical country bumpkin. Last time he went hunting was with a rifle. "I have a draft in my bag here, I half expected having access to a table." he chuckled. A little nervous about the statement Flann said earlier about not knowing which side of the border he was on. He pulled the treaty out of its folder, trying to keep it out of the rain, unsuccessfully. "Here you go, this is a rough draft. Though before you sign it I am authorized to go a bit further with the treaty than a simple PIAT. Would you be interested in something along the lines of optional defense? It is generally a bonding statement as, of course, there is technically always the option of defending an ally. Mostly it is a public declaration of friendship." he said as he was handing it over.

Flann quickly read over the treaty Ambassador Philips had just given him. " Aye." he said in an absent minded manner, as he finished reading the last few words on the page. " Uisliu, get your arse over here. I need to borrow your back for a second!" The Druid reluctantly walked over to Flann. " Thanks, now hold still!" Flann put the treaty on Uisliu's back and made his signature on the paper, smeared in a few drops of the deer's blood:

Ard Rí na Alba,
Flann Mór Sinna

" There we go. Now, how would you like to stay for some venison and drink? I have a tent back the ways up there." He pointed to a ridge blocked by some bushes and trees. " Hmph, when I think of it now, It would have been the better place to talk. HA! Here ya go anyway." Flann gave back the treaty, all wet and cover with patches of blood.

The treaty with the Scotts was pending approval of the senate, mostly because it was draped in blood and the diplomats suit was drenched in mud and water. Though the spear was kind of cool in the end. The last order on the schedule was England, a nation torn by war and destruction that finally it seems has been organized under a proper stable government. A diplomatic message was sent to London immediately.

The Carolinas would like to visit England on the possibility of diplomatic relations, even, should you need it, aid in rebuilding your nation from the past horrible wars. Our diplomat is currently in the Isles as we speak and would be able to get to you within hours. Should you have us of course.
A reply was made confirming that the King would meet with their ambassador. On arrival in England he would be escorted to Windsor from Heathrow, which was quite a drive, before being ushered into the castle and into an empty room to await the King.

Dominic had just finished ajusting his tie when a knock at the door signalled that his guest was here. Walking through into the private library, he would use one of Windsors many secret passages and sneak into the room through a wall panel in the guest office behind the Ambassador.

"Greetings ambassador, Dominic Plantagnet at your service, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit for?"

Thomas stood up to shake the mans hand, he was glad to finally be on his last mission and was definitely ready to go home. He has had a rather successful mission so far, the English he thought would be a bit harder being in the situation that they are. "Thomas Philips, great to meet you thanks for having me." it seemed the English were the kind to go strait down to business, so that is what he did. "We have been on a tour of British relations to start the Carolinas up into international relations. Europe has been a peacekeeping region in this workd for a while, even though recent unfortunate wars have held that back. The president is particularly interested in trade with your nation, and possibly some sort of signed document, or a treaty of some sort. I was also instructed to inquire as to if you need aid in rebuilding from the Irish removing that germanic regime, and from the issue between Germany and the recently dissolved Umbrella Commonwealth. Condolences for and losses your people have recently survived." he hoped the king didnt think that he was being a bit abrupt but it has been quite a long tour for Thomas.

Dominic frowned slightly when the ambassador did not defer to his status as King, but he made no point of it.
"I have already negotiated with the Irish to compensate us for the damage they inflicted against English infrastructure in their war. As it happens I dispatched the budget they requested earlier today to the Irish treasury. Quite funny actually, they wanted a budget in exchange for compensation for damage, they inflicted, in their war of aggression. As for Umbrellas invasion, and the resulting smackdown by the Germans caused minimal damage to England, infact, we have discovered that the Umbrella Forces were using designs from an old British company called BAE Global Weapon Systems. Fortunately enough we are in the process of reverse engineering much of the equipment that they left behind" said Dominic as he took a sip of coffee.

"So Mr Phillips, I must decline your offer of charity. Aswell as the discussions for a trade agreement. Have a good day Mr Phillips, my men will escort you and your delegation back to Heathrow, have a safe flight." he finished. Thomas had been far too rude. If he was tired, he should of rested before coming to this meeting.

As Dominic left the room, two suited men would enter and usher Mr Phillips out of the castle and to a waiting vehicle which would take him back to the airport.

"Well, I-" the man paused, he was trained on this sort of situation, a government not interested in true relations and only accepting diplomats out of an attempt to be polite. "Thank you for having me in your country, no matter how short, and abrupt your hospitality has been." He graciously left the room and after a time in his hotel packing, he headed back home to see his family again. A general overview was drafted over the diplomatic mission.
Diplomatic overview of the "British Isles Diplomatic Tour"

Ireland- The Irish seem to be very interested in further relations, the nation seems to be of the peaceful progressing status that we expected. Diplomatic mission successful.
Scotland- Scotland has shown interest in relations, though the leader seemed more interested in hunting a deer during the diplomatic mission, it has been considered a success. Diplomatic mission successful.
England- England has wasted the Free Republics time, due to reasons they have failed to communicate with us thus far. Hopefully they will eventually let us know when they find the time to explain their failure. They seem to only be interested in inviting our diplomats so as not to look rude. Diplomatic mission unsuccessful.
