I would suggest you do not give a day long break for this cause alliances can basically remove players and then tell them to rejoin just to boost their stats. 

 

It would be better if this was done continuously rather than have breaks in between.

I thought about starting down at 96th and working our way up, but so many alliances don't gain score on a routine basis down there that we'd just end up with a bunch of 0:0 scores.

What if for the best of the rest, you just kept cumulative scores of alliances 96-65, it would be a competition and it would most likely result in a winner.
