Going south

President Cornwell frowned as he read the MRIA's (Midwest Republic Intelligence Agency) recent report. Natas had gotten away, and was attempting to seek political asylum in CAU. He knew there was a very high chance that they would not turn him over, but he couldn't send the MRIA over the border because if they get caught, there would be a major foreign affairs issue.

But he did have a small mercenary team that could do the job for him.

He dialed a number in his cell phone.

"You will receive an encrypted email containing information for your next mission. I want him dead."

Although the Union did not really care about what was going on in the Midwest Republic, it did care that a once high-ranking politician was seeking asylum. Thus, the Brotherhood found itself with a new goal - to unite the Midwest Republic with the Union and lay claim to the entire Midwest.

Within days, Natas would find himself being welcomed into the Union with open arms, border guards asking him to keep a low profile and follow them to a armored convoy, which would take him to a secure location.

I've been informed that the former President Natas had fled to your country, seeking asylum. He is wanted for a variety of crimes, such as first degree murders, embezzlement, bribing, carjacking, resisting arrest, and etc. I request that you hand him over if you find him.

A few guards walked around in a fenced-off area. A small residential building was within the area, with Natas in it. He felt like it was like being in prison, and although escape is optional, it was suicidal to step outside. At least he wouldn't have to be on the run and constantly watch his back, and his food.

A loud thud was heard in the distance, then followed by a whistling sound, and then the building exploded. A group of assassins had setup and fired a one-shot artillery gun miles away, rigged with a 15 minutes timer and built with parts shipped by mail. They would be long gone by the time the police came and investigated the scene.

But whoever shipped the parts made a serious mistake. They had used one of Midwest Republic Army's discontinued artillery guns, and failed to remove the identifications from the parts.

Once the explosion sounded, Brotherhood's Fist and American Union Army soldiers would be placed on full alert. Battlefield forensics soldiers would be dispatched to the area, and Brotherhood's Fist soldiers would close the area to any and all unauthorized personnel. After about an hour of investigating, it was determined the cause of the explosion was an artillery shell, fired some distance away. A search of the area was conducted, and the "smoking gun", so to speak, was found. It was examined and the Midwest Republic markings were found.
To whom it may concern,

Our technicians found an artillery piece bearing markings from your military that was involved in the destruction and death of a political refugee safehouse.

We demand an explanation as to why this is so.

Regards,
The Council of Seven
We have not invaded your territory. Could you provide us pictures of the evidences? Our military discontinued large amount of equipments not too long ago, and it maybe possible that someone got hold of one of them before they were recycled.
Our investigation team confirmed it was indeed one of our discontinued artillery guns, and they are looking into when the artillery gun was taken and who.

Before you make baseless accusations of foul play, do keep in mind that Natas had few friends and many enemies.
Natas hit "send", and then yelled in frustration. He took out his cell phone, dialed a number.

"Hello?"

"No trail of evidences. Did I tell you that a while ago? Well, they found a trail of evidences linking back to us, identifications of an artillery gun. Mess up again and you will be on the receiving end."

"They're claiming it wasn't them."

"That's crap and we know it."

"But we cannot do anything about it. Diplomacy over all, that is the Brotherhood's motto."

"No, our motto is 'Destroy our enemies before they destroy us', Councillor."

For your sake, we do hope this is not your doing. This piece cost us a good deal of money, which could be used for better projects. Tread carefully.
