Dear Friends,

Our relations with the SlavoRussian Empire are most important to us. It is for that reason, that I propose a meeting between our two states, in order to re-affirm relations and discuss possible new directions between our two states.

Signed,
Reich Minister of Foreign Affairs
Albrecht Blaskowitz [/quote]

Prime Minister Putin quickly sent a reply to Berlin confirming German Foreign Minister’s request for a meeting. He informed the Reich Minister that the venue for the meeting would be at the Governor’s mansion in Yaroslavl instead of in Moscow.

Upon receiving the message, Reich Minister Albrecht Blaskowitz boarded the nation's diplomatic transport to Yaroslavl, Russia. He carried with him a number of documents, which he planned to present to the SlavoRussian delegates.

The Yaroslavl Governor’s quaint Classical Georgian mansion was on the outskirts of the city. The property was mostly surrounded by agricultural land and middle-class houses and contrasted the grandeur and excess that was characteristic of the Russian upper class.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin arrived at the shortly before his guest. When the Reich Minister arrived he would be greeted by the Prime Minister and treated to lunch and tea and engage in small talk. “I hope you aren’t too disappointed that I chose this modest setting for our meeting, but sometimes I just prefer to be in the quiet countryside. Anyway, should we get down to business?”

"I have no issues with the choosing of the countryside. Sometimes one needs to be away from the bustling city to properly gather your thoughts."

Reaching down, Blaskowitz grabbed his small cup of tea and took a small sip.

"Now onto the real reason we're here. Germany and SlavoRussia have been allies for years. We enjoy a good friendship; however, how can we enchance this relationship? I have a number of suggestions; however, what is your opinion?"

“Your Excellency, I’m sure you’re aware that Sweden has invaded Finland, Slavorussia’s ally. So far Sweden has refused all our overtures and we have been left with very few choices. To make a long story if it would be possible for Germany to officially condemn Sweden’s war I think that would do a great deal for the morale of our soldiers and for Slavorussia’s international standing.”

Blaskowitz nodded, "We have been watching this situation closely. Honestly, we can't find a legit reason for this aggression on Sweden's part. As an allied partner, we'll stand by you and comdenm this war. However, we are curious. Do you expect this to expand to the point where we'd have to get involved?"

"To be honest, we are quite apprehensive to get involved in this Scandinavian conflict. If we show such a public display of support, that'd be just like us declaring a state of war with Sweden. We don't want to be the aggressors. We'd rather come into this conflict defensively supporting SlavoRussia through a treaty. However, after the war, that is a totally different story. As a sign of good-will, we'd be willing to provide you with advanced arms and the training to use them. We believe that the only reason Sweden is acting in such a way is because of the perceived weakness of the SlavoRussian Armed Forces. While we see you guys as powerful allies, Sweden sees SlavoRussia was a weak state. Upgrading could go along way in fixing that image."

“I would never ask Germany to get directly involved. I know you have interests in keeping good relations with the north and we wouldn’t want you to jeopardize that. However most of our current equipment is severely outmatched by what the Swedish are able to put on the front. It would be a great help if we had advanced sensory and communication technology to use against the Swedes.”

Blaskowitz nodded and made a quick note, "We could give you the equipment that was requested. However, for various reasons, we'd have to send it after the current conflict ends. We could give you other items as well. However, for that stuff, we'd have to send numerous advisors to train your armed forces in using these new items."

"I wholeheartedly believe that our war with Sweden will not be end unless the back down from their position and withdraw from Finland. It will be some time before any exchange of technology can take place. Other than that what else can we mutually obtain from this conference?"

Blaskowitz rubbed his chin and thought for a moment, "Perhaps we can begin technological shipments under the guise of economic shipments. Yes, it would be a bold move; however, I feel that your nation needs all the help it can get at the moment. However, it's up to your nation, really. Germany, however, is ready to make the appropriate moves, seeing as how Sweden won't back down. We'd have to remind you that the sending of military advisors won't be feasible until the end of the conflict."

Vladimir smiled slightly, “That would be very helpful Mr. Blaskowitz. This war has the potential to be long and bloody, but I do not believe the Swedish government is completely disconnected from reality. Even the slightest frown from Germany and the rest of the international community might be enough to make them reconsider their present course of action.”

Blaskowitz took down a few notes, "We can condemn Sweden; however, that probably wouldn't do much. They are a very stubborn people, who are intent on raging this war for territorial gain. It is always upsetting to see two European nations in conflict; while, there are more pressing issues in Europe to discuss. However, I will take what you noted to the Reichskanzler, and he will take the best possible route to ensure it's execution."

Blaskowitz smiled, "In the coming weeks, Greater Germany will be undertaking a major campaign in the Pacific. We know you are in no position to help; However, we do ask for some public support. We want to win the public relations war, as well as the one on the ground."

"We're looking over the possibilities of taking military action against Grand Papua for various reasons. Grand Papua has proven to be an unstable country, as evident by their attacks on members of our very own Nordic Socialist Party. The goal of Germany is to wipe this regime from the face of the earth and place one that is more stable."

"We have been led to question Grand Papua’s intentions lately. We did not support their military intervention in Africa, but we missed several opportunities to express it. I think offering verbal support to you would be precisely the vehicle through which we could voice ourselves."
