The 3rd Army was stationed in Florida, split relatively evenly between Fort Central just outside Orlando and Miami. When the order came down to re-liberate Florida, the troops moved quickly. They knew what they had to do. They were facing an small enemy, one made up of foreigners who didn't know the lay of the land like they did. Intelligence had indicated a large gathering of these foreigners in downtown Orlando, which is where 15,000 soldiers of the 3rd Army headed from Fort Central first, along with over 200 tanks, APCs, IFVs, and Command vehicles. In Miami, 20,000 troops moved out to secure the docks for the ships at sea if needed, while the other 10,000 moved to secure Miami International Airport. Both tasks were expected to be relatively easy as there were no reports of foreign presence in the southern half of the nation. Contrary to foreign claims, the Imperial troops saw no indication that elections were being held. Indeed, it would be absurd to think that they could be organized and held in such a short time. The troops would advance towards their objectives, backed by assets of aircraft both land-based and sea-based. Cruise missiles were prepared for surgical strikes should the need arise. Plus, an idea of where those troops are coming from would be appreciated, since you haven't been there long enough to raise an army or military equipment. Michael McBride Posted December 30, 2011 Report Share Posted December 30, 2011 The sight of 100 planes heading toward Miami was certainly a shock to the troopers, and initially caught them off guard. The forces simply by sheer number were more than their air support could handle. Two squadrons of interceptors (OOC: 14 planes) had been stationed at Miami; they immediately scrambled into the air. The Empire's superior technological edge would only do so much against such overwhelming numbers. The pilots immediately radioed for reinforcements from the 1st Fleet, which began scrambling its own air assets, numbering 120 sea-based fighters. They wouldn't get there in time, however. The two squadrons formed up and targeted the bombers, ignoring the fighters, even at the risk of their own safety. Each interceptor carried ten missiles. Identifying targets, giving priority to the bombers, though some fighters were targeted as well, 70 missiles raced from the defenders. Following the missile attack, any planes that would survive an inevitable counter attack by foreign forces would engage into dogfights, where their superior technology and combat experience would give them more of an edge. Some bombers would inevitably make it through the barrage however. There simply weren't enough missiles to guarantee the destruction of every bomber. The troops who heard the warnings got under as much cover as they could, but it wasn't a lot. Bombs fell over Miami, flattening buildings and destroying roads and infrastructure. Panicked soldiers radioed for immediate air support, though they knew it was 10 minutes out at the earliest. Casualties were moderate based on the distribution of the troops throughout the city and airport. 1,347 Imperial troops were killed, and another 2,153 were injured, though many of those were minor injuries such as cuts and bruises from when buildings fell. The civilian toll would be much, much higher. Troops made sure to film the bombings and the destructive aftermath where they could. Videos were sent via satellite back to the fleet, who beamed them to New York. From there, the images would be disseminated to the world, showing what foreign forces were doing to Miami. He knew that war was coming there with the Khalistinians refusing to leave, but the brutal bombing of their own city and the civilian death toll of a people that they had no right to rule shocked him. "[i]An outrage[/i]," he thought to himself,"[i]It's an outrage to see this happen when these people had no right to be ruled over by them, and then they bomb their own city, killing thousands of innocents."[/i] As the video clips ended he sat back in the chair he was in, still stunned by the footage. Second, you need to post a counter attack on my planes if you want me to RP any casualties. Third my sea-based reinforcements will get there before your Orlando-based ones, just so you're aware. Ishabad you haven't outlined which aircraft you use and considering the modern stealth fighters like the F-22 and F-35 are still well beyond your tech range I am going to assume fourth generation fighters. SMH the same on specifying what you use counts for you however I'm going to assume rl missiles in your own tech range too. These two elements combined result in highly effective missiles used by SMH against relatively outdated fighters with none of the modern upgrades. Casualties should be a lot higher ishabad. They along with hundreds of other Slavorussian tourists decided to get to the Slavorussian consulate in Aventura, Florida where they would be whisked away to safety. Natasha stared grimly at Uncle Oleg’s hat as it wafted downward from the sky. The hotel had been hit by a bomb which had destroyed the lobby and killed old Uncle Oleg as he made his way in from the pool area. The hat was burned and blackened by the explosion. The sight of it conjured memories of quiet summers at Uncle Oleg and Aunt Catherine’s farm near Vornezh. She started to cry when another bomb exploded near the hotel. Dmitry quickly pulled her into the car and drove off. In Adventura the Consul-General asked his government to send ships to evacuate Slavorussian citizens from Florida. The navy dispatched two Slava class cruisers to oversee the safe withdrawal of Slavorussian nationals from the east coast they were the Admiral Kolchak and the Amber Empress. Gallifrey will be sending these doctors and ambulances no security and hopes Brooks County can supply that. The sonic screwdrivers are not given to the public so please keep a count on those."
