Triyun
Dear Newer RPers, There is a certain presumptuousness to this letter, but I ask you to bear with me. It has seemed that we have gotten some new players these past few weeks, and many have been fantastic. Others though have had some issues. I think therefore it is beneficial to clarify some things and make some suggestions. First, IRC =/= IC, PM=/= IC, IG message =/= IC. All deals need to be done through IC RPing if they are to have IC effects. If you're unclear on the distinction please contact a GM or an older player (tidybowlman, Sarah Tintagl, Lynneth, etc all are pretty good about the distinctions too). Second, do not assume CN RP moves at the speed of light, and you need to be patient. You're highly unlikely to get a big Empire overnight. In fact many a newbie has died trying to do just that (many a big player too). If you push people for more land all the time (especially after they just gave you some), you will get them angry. The statistical likelihood is they have more allies and more firepower than you, so this works out to your detriment not the person you asks. Be patient, don't do every RP about annexation, slow and steady wins the race. Third, do not use first person narration, or speak as a macro player. Also use a novel format of dialogue not script format. Develop individual characters and use third person pronouns (the exception being letters written by a character OR dialogue or a thought). People respect style, and they are more likely to let you have your way if you write stylistically. Fourth, beware the eye of god. Your character does not know what you know by reading other peoples RPs. If there is no plausible way for your character to know something, they do not know it. Also do not make 'lucky guesses' as a substitute all the time. Guessing the other person's thoughts and plans time and time again is the same as having the eye of god. Fifth, if you can't post more than a sentence, its not worth posting that sentence. You should always aim for a paragraph minimum in a post. Sixth, seek out friends but don't bug them. You're probably well advised to make friends with an existing player. However, do not bug them over every minor thing. You should probably ask before attacking your neighbor, you don't need to ask little things though. Thanks in advance, One Slightly frustrated GM/ Older Player

Captain Enema
Ok let's not turn this into a he said I said she said thread. In short for those who can't read well keep these in mind. 1) don't be a greedy cow.. just wait for more land. 2) Stop reading private communications. 3) Stop stinking up IRC and rp more. 4) The GM team does not exist for you to complain to on a 24 hour basis. If you need help consult the People's Court. Edited December 28, 2011 by Tidy Bowl Man

Sands
And what is the incentive for new RPers to follow these suggestions? What, as new Rpers, do we get in return? Respect? Interaction? Acceptance? I'm quite wondering if I should not be more like the ones not following any of this. It seems they have settled into the community far faster than I have. But in comparison to others, your nation still exists, people see you as original, and personally, I respect you as a competent RPer. The only problem you have is your location. Not many people are around, but you could PM those doing character RP's. Maybe they interact with you more then.

I appreciate the compliments I have received, but I will make this observation. I seem to be a nice Rper to read, but I do not have four pages of good or bad replies to anything I've written IC. Other than my utility thread to mark my position on the map I have gotten no other interaction. My only ooc message from another CNRPer was an offer to buy my RP, and confirmation of being updated on the map. Perhaps I am being too critical of things, but look at it from my point of view. If I had not mentioned anything here I wouldn't even know if people read my RP. I've lurked for a quite while before joining so I have gotten a sense for what the community wants, but perhaps I missed what actually gets everyone's interest.
Sands, I'll be honest, if it was in my plot line I was going to have Theresia arrive in your territory with her Amazons. If you wouldn't mind, since we both have kind of nomadic type civilizations. I'd be happy to have someone come into the Sahara for a bit and we can do some interaction. I think given your location, on a continent that doesn't have a lot of RPs makes it hard at times. Also, don't be afraid to interact character wise in other RPs. Character RP has been rising as of late, so there's a lot of room and people would be happy to have you. But if it's okay with you, I will try to get one of the Amazons across the Sahara, maybe lost and gets found by your nomads? Let me know. Captain Enema
Give it time sands. You aren't running up and demanding treaties with everyone and more or less keeping to yourself. That's why most people are just watching versus participating.

PresidentDavid
I know a lot of people like to RP in IRC and post it in the IC Forums. From what I understand, from what Triyun said, it is okay to do that, as long as you post it (that is if you want it to be cannon) yes?
