Empress Ariadne Notaras of Heraclius and Prince Alexandre Grimaldi I to Marry

Athens - A few minutes ago the Office of the Eastern Empress has announced that Empress Ariadne Notaras of Heraclius has said yes to a proposal made by the Sovereign Prince of Monaco Alexandre I. This follows after months of rumors of secret meetings between the Empress and the Prince which now seem to be confirmed.

A date has yet to be announced however the respective government agencies have already government that the territorial changes will be implemented immediately in line with the new personal union. Under the union Monaco-Valencia will be integrated into the Athenian Federation as a state enjoying full internal autonomy and the ability to maintain both its own armed forces and diplomatic corps. Legislative elements of the government will remain seperate too. Under the union decisions to enter into foreign pacts and to initiate wars will be made from Athens as the primary capital and seat of government.

The move has been received generally positively among both populations with skeptics worrying more about the ability of the capitalist and socialist states to properly integrate however these also state that the different governments on internal matters will balance this out. All existing international agreements of both states will remain.

The National Council of Monaco-Valencia recognizes this union between Sovereign Prince Alexandre I and the Eastern Empress. The National Council also recognizes the integration of the Monegasque state with the Athenian Federation and will work with Athens to sort out any administrative issues that may occur during the integration process. Furthermore the Monegasque Armed Forces shall continue to be independent under the control of the National Council and the Sovereign Prince. May Pax Atheniensium last for decades to come.
