Earlier today the until-then-interim "Northern Federation" has revealed their new flag (as seen above) which uses traditional Germanian Colors and patterns while including a Mjöllnir as well. Because the name Northern Federation was already taken, and for the sake of avoiding ambiguety, it was soon decided at Reykjavík that the permanent name should be decided by plebiscite after the government narrowed down the options to only six at most.

In the end, the name chosen was Hethnamark, which means something approximate to Pagan Marches. It may additionally be written as HeÞnamark. The people, in spite of having various ethnicities, have begun referring one another in different manners which often relate to the new name, but the official form has been stated to be: Hethnamarkish or Hethnamarker. Still, Markish or "From the Mark" seems to be much more common in colloquial speech.

The form of government has yet to be revealed, as it is still being worked on, typically through the uses of plebiscites. So far however, the Germanian Army, Navy and Airforce have been essentially "annexed" and will continue to serve under the new banner, name, and allegiance. The new country has stated than in thirty days, it will become isolationist, until then, those of Germanic Ethnicities can report to obtain citizenship, but not afterwards. The Germanian Currency (The Nordmark) will continue to be used, but the new printings will differ vastly in design from the ones that are still in use.

Hethnamark Closes
News about the former Germanian Elite

Hethnamark's immediate fate would be closely related to its geography. A land of many islands, and even of "Island-cities", with much territory located in the far north and south, it decided to pursue an isolationist goal. Each Territory (Be it a city, island or region) will be strictly off-limits to non-Hethnamarkers, but at the same time a small, enclosed sector of the cities will be set aside for international trade, and for emergencies such as a plane needing to crashland or to harbor survivors of wrecked vessels, for example. This means that companies such as Nordlandische Waffenwerke, Kettenheim Inc. and many other high profile companies have essentially divided, much like Shkoda Works after the ancient world wars, while keeping the same name. So for example, a Hethnamark Mercedes Benz will coexist with the Dalmatian Counterpart.

These companies invariably have their headquarters in the public-access sectors of Hethnamark, so as to be able to export and import goods in spite of the restrictions. The off-limit zones are currently being walled, but gates exist because it is not forbidden for Hethnamarkers to come and go as they see fit. In the eventuality that a Hethnamarker should have a child with a foreigner, the foreigner and the child need to quit their non-hethnamark nationality in order to be allowed to live or visit Hethnamark.

The Government Institutions have finished rearranging itself, however, who or what precisely guides and rules Hethnamark is at this moment not known by the outer world. There had been plebiscites, but anything after that point seems obscure. Once more, in the areas of Hethnamark that are not off-limits, special "Exterior Houses" have been set up, all built in the same way throughout the nation for easy identification, which will serve as the means through which Hethnamark officially will communicate with foreigners - an odd version of Foreign Ministries and Embassies.

The only thing that is obvious beyond this, is that the land continues to be highly militarized, geared towards defense. All else was like trying to guess what is in a closed box by staring at it intensely.

The future of the former Germanian Ministers, the Althing, the Martens Family and Others are still rumors at this point.

Dierik Martens has been spotted in Moscow, where he's retiring to with a modest fortune.
Dietrich Tambarskjelve's boat was seen sailing off of Königsberg and eventually tracked to Manneligia in the far north, where all detail is lost.
Van den meer had decided to remain in Martensheim, while von Falkenhausen was seen taking a plane to Asgaard with several members of the former government. Foch-Glassermann decided to join the Francogerman Brigade, and Lange reportedly shot himself outside of the Reichstag on the head when realizing that his country did no longer exist.

The rest of the staff, ministers and Martens family seem to be scattered throughout Europe. Kaiser Martens himself has not been found, but he had been last seen in Germany years ago. Still, nobody is concerned, as he has a history of appearing and dissappearing haphazardly.

The new country appears to have a very high population density, but conclussive data of a census is secret, and the majority of the population is known to have been Germanian Dissidents, which explains why the majority supported Dalmatia at first - because the rest simply left.

Some of the rumors spreaded seemed to have been mistaken. Iceland itself appeared to be completely closed off to the public, but then, the small islands off its coast, seemed to serve as Public Sectors, as first described. The same happened with Faroe, the main island being off-limits, but not the rest. And, so far, the heart of the foreign-oriented part of the economy seemed (Unsurprisingly, to any analysts) Hamburg - to be more accurate, Hamburg's Outskirts.

There were three main exporting branches so far: Fish, Machine Tools, and finished, complex machinery such as Tanks, Cars, Engines in General, but the field of Nanotechnology was booming as of lately. The land didn't readily seem to import anything in particular, but merely took an opportunist stance, taking whatever they felt to be suitable and not overpriced at the moment. Whether if Hethnamark could produce the rest of the goods by itself or if the population lived a fairly spartan life, was a mistery. They seemed healthy, in any case, but quite cold towards most visitors.

As time passes, less and less is known about Hethnamark, which is either odd or remarkable in a globalized age. Though many see different vehicles roaming about, mostly small to medium vessels, sometimes private aircraft. Given the nature of the territory, conventional vehicles like trains and cars were not common, and most would find that even within the cities, the car-to-pedestrian ratio is much smaller than those of most developed areas. That is, if they could visit Hethnamark proper at all...

In the meantime, the Navy and Aircraft have begun making standard patrols over the skies and under and on the oceans, while some border guards with Armored Units were seen on the outer perimeter of the different landlocked regions.

As of lately, strange lights and UFO sightings have been reported over Icelannd and Niflheim. Unsurprisingly, there would be no reaction nor reply from the Hethnamarkers. Apart from that, upon Kurland's restoration, the large number of Vikings which had found profit in the area have returned to Hamburg and Magnhildsborg carrying with them their profits.

The Holy City, Asgaard, has released to the world an official message in which it states that it will host public fests and blots on its very outskirts during the different Germanic Festivities, but that as an exception, during Midsommerfest and Julfest, the city will open its gates to the Loyal for one week. During this period, there will be very high security measures. There are rumors that there will be sacrifices as parts of the blots - some including human beings.

"The idea of Human Sacrifice is deplorable. If these Viking customs are going to persist then the Commune must step in to restore moral order to the people. We hope these rumors are simply what you say they are; rumors."

"The Kingdom of Sweden must express some outrage at the rumors of these coming sacrifices during these events, the act of human sacrifice, at such an event, if condoned by the government, is an act of injustice and immorality. Such behavior is not conducive with society today, nor humanity in general. While we respect all cultures, there is a limit to such respect, and state-sponsored murder for spectacle is not one of them."

"The Athenian Federation must echo both the Commune and Sweden, human sacrifice and sacrifice in general is deplorable and has no place in the modern world. No government that cares for its people should support murder in any form, especially not for purposes such as these."

As of lately, a series of space shuttles on rockets have been launched from Jotunheim, the half-Hethnamarkish Island off the coast of Africa. Every ten days, a new shuttle is launched, shuttles which then return to the Island. Hethnamark is known to have started populating its Space Colonies at a slow, but nevertheless constant pace. Regularily, new aircraft from the other parts of Hethnamark land on the Island, constituting greater-than-average traffic, this leads to speculation that people across Hethnamark have been selected to resettle to the space assets. For once, one of Hethnamark's movements and actions seems to appear fairly transparent in spite of lacking official announcements.

The wandering group of callous and greedy mercenaries known simply as the Mando'ade which in their tongue translated as "lost souls" found these rumours intriguing and would attempt to contact the Asgaard authorities so that they could find out what restrictions were going to be put in place in regards to personal weapons as well as attempting to gather any further information on Julfest itself.

Their efforts to obtain information would be largely futile, as people would invariably avoid them, unless if they got too close to Hethnamark's many walls, in which case they'd be threatened by military forces. It turned out that only Asgaard itself was currently open, so only the ones which decided to head directly there would be able to see what was going on. The mercenaries were made to leave their heavy weapons aside, on the custody of the defense forces, but carrying with them self-defense weapons such as a handgun or a non-firearm would be allowed, if they should proceed into the Julfest proper.

"You're too late for the sacrifice, too bad..." Spoke one of the gatekeepers, watching the proceedings on a small flat screen.

Holiday season was over, and slowly but unstoppably, Asgaard closed its gates, removing the tourists, one by one, until the usual order of things had been restored all over Hethnamark. The regular Space Colony Population Effort rockets continued to launch, and this winter was unusually mild in Iceland.

Although the only hint was an amount of inflation when the Nordmen traded with the outside world, the economy of the Hethna-cities had been deacreasing. A two-year investment and stabilization plan was announced in order to counter these unforeseen bumps in the road, but it would take some time to see any results.

The end of the Alsatian Matter?
At neither German nor French Hands

Earlier today it was announced in Luxemburg that the french part of Elsass-Lothringen which had de-facto seceeded from France had made a request to join Hethnamark for protection, which had been approved by the Government. The small region would continue to function in a fairly autonomous fashion, and would continue to use both French as well as German for communication. The people had become tired of the endless back-and-forth and decided to pursue their own identity while using Hethnamark as a type of unbiased, protecting agent.

"We may have wanted to be our own country, but such a thing is not viable, and out of the options which we have, I believe, we chose what is best for our people. Maybe this will be the end of the border issues between Germans and Franks." - Lothair Perrin stated as he received his Hethnamarkish ID and then showed the picture. "Now we have the backing of an institution we can trust, and we are thankful. Es lebe die liberté!"

The region will remain very militarized, but due to the fact that all of Hethnamark is, this in fact is hardly a surprise.
