Hello. I'm Ylva Dahl of FARN news. This is our first broadcast so I hope you enjoy watching, about as much as I enjoy reporting.

Political - Today the President's approval rating dropped 3% as the Regional and National government declared a state of war with Athens. The president said that the un-aggressive Norwegians were wrongly attacked. So far there have been no casualties but the president did state that "The invasion of Norway calls for a swift and brutal retaliation. I just hate to see that we have to do that to them after they sent us 10,000,000 arcs for our people to eat on." The president went on to exclaim that the Embassy between Athens and The Federation will be kept open to ensure a quick and positive resolution.

Economic - The Arc went up in value today, remarking that several treasures were donated to the government by anonymous senders. These valuables were set as government property and the gold went straight into the national treasury to help our economy. An expected rise in value of the Arc will continue over the next month. In other news about the economy, several jobs open up as the war takes place, raising support for the war. The Regional Government of Spitsbergen has declared that its people can get 5% off of their income taxes when working for the National Government for a war cause.

Diplomacy - An air raid has taken place off of the coast of Norway. The Federation's Air Force fired a massive amount of torpedos, cruise missiles, and heat seeking missiles at Athenian Ships that were stationed outside of the Norwegian Bay. No remarks from the president yet about Casualties or if Athens-Arctic Relations are improving or worse.

Social - A cruise missile was fired today into an Un-Governed African land. The people of the federation were worried but the Federation of Arctic Regions assures the people that it will be ok. A no-fly zone was enacted over the perimeter of the missile's landing and troops were there to secure it. The people of FAR have mixed views towards this, but wonder how this will effect them. In other FAR news, A bill was proposed to the senate today. It was proposed to restrict the use of Air Conditioning. The senators believe that as cold as the country is that there is no reason to have the air on, only the heat. He also went on to say that fuel is not cheap and the cold air has an increased use of fuel than heat.

"We got 'em were the words out of President Varin's mouth as a massive air raid was concluded over the Norwegian Bay. Several Athenian ships were sunk and The Brother of the emperor had been killed in the Attacks. This gave the citizens a huge morale boost. The citizens celebrated and were certain it would be a quick and swift victory. Parties broke up all over the capital. President Varin was quoted to saying "We took a nation on 3 times our size, and we did great doing it. The only thing I fear is if there will be a retaliation from the Athenians. Some old war veterans have moved to small towns outside of Spitsbergen. They are afraid of a retaliation from the Athenians. The victory over the Athenian navy was a quick one and one worth celebrating here in The Federation.

Today 3,840 Hypersonic Cruise Missiles slammed into the Federation. Athens had shot the missiles in retaliation to our massive sinking of their ships and the killing of the Emperor's Brother. Propaganda had been passed around heavily criticizing the Government of this. The nationalism in The Federation has greatly increased, Mostly all of the people in the Federation had been touched by this tragic event. If they had not lost a family member or a friend, they lost some of their bank account. A huge financial loss for the Arctic included Lennon's Corporation which was a huge supplier in the Nordic Fur trade. Many government buildings and other buildings were hit. The nation is in peril. Approximately 48,000,000,000.00 arcs worth of damages was done. This will take a lot of time to re-building. The President has left the words "We can rebuild. I do not care at all about losing these buildings. I care about losing my people and the ones I cared for. We entered the war to fight the Government of Athens. Not even to fight them, we entered to defend Norway. We lost a lot of citizens in this act. Citizens cannot be rebuild. Im so greatful for my life and so greatful for yours. Where ever you are, you are my people and I am your people. Together we fight a common enemy."

The Federation of Arctic Nation's has approved over 500,000 applications for citizenship in Svalbard. This is a massive amount and is expected to help the economy and the culture and life of the Federation. A massive amount of new citizens will prove a huge impact on svalbard.

After the war comes to grinding halt, the Arctic's economy slowly falls. Self sufficent on war-time purchases, it was one of the most powerful and prosperous economies in the world. Today the fall of labor and finances caused the arc to be worth 48% less, and this is just the beginning experts say. The GDP has lost approximately $328,000,000 in the last week a lone. The economic prosperity will depend on the government's next move. The senate has issued a statement regarding that they are currently deliberating on dropping the "Arc" as the Federation's national currency due to were the only nation that uses the arc and that we determine the full amount it is worth. Stores are also having a tough time updating their prices on such short notice, The consumers of the nation rushed out this morning hoping to get cheap deals before shops and markets heightened their prices. In good news, the more purchases they make will help the economy but since they are getting it at such a disadvantage for the companies, the companies will lose money making it an even worse deal. Many businesses closed their doors today until the economic decline of the Arc comes to a stop. Some businesses that were not doing good from the start permanently closed their doors, fearing even greater losses. The president remarks "It will be a tough road ahead, but i have no doubt that we can make it through."

Today the value of the Arc dropped 200%. An extremely major drop in currency value. The Federal Government has encouraged investment in Diamonds due to the extremely sharp fall of the Arc. With more people not taking the Arc as currency, it is sure to take another plunge. The currency was once a very strong one but now it is dropping down to nothing. With the Federation of Arctic Regions being the only nation that uses the Arc, it is to said it will follow the down spiral with the Arctic Economy. The Federation of Arctic Region's Stock Market is beginning to get extremely unstable as the Arc's prices are not even known to most investors. The changes in value of the arc change so quickly that no one will spend due to fear of the Arc going back up, some spend it all due to fear of it going down more. Time will tell, yet businesses remain leary of taking the currency. Most grocery stores do not allow use of the Arc, they rather pay by credit. The Credit system in the Federation of Arctic Regions is also taking a plunge as it is running out of Arcs to loan out. Panic is setting in and President Varin and the Government are making plans to start rationing out food.

In other news, many businesses close leaving Federation of Arctic Region's Citizens jobless and without income. The government is sending money out to help the jobless but it cannot provide much as it is getting dangerously close to a deficit. A trade deficit has also taken place as businesses are buying more foreign supplies, rather than national supplies due to national supplies being "Extremely over priced". Time will tell, but panic has definitely set in at the market place. Unemployment is at a reported rate of 17.8%. A recession is in place, but Varin fears depression may be coming in the next month. The government has no insight on when this Panic and Economic Catastrophe will end.

Many businesses, insured by the government cannot be rebuilt from the Athenian's massive missile barrage. The government is too close to debt to rebuild any businesses, forcing more Arcticans out of jobs. This number has not even been counted yet. Varin fears depression as the number is said to be in the 100,000s.

The Economy has been declared as a depression. Rations are being deployed. The estimated cost for 1 gallon of milk is 50,000 Arcs (USD $50.00). Jobs have been completely lost. Super markets have AAF Government Forces constantly patrolling them due to looters. Jails begin to fill full of violent protestors. The people of the Arctic are being given 1 free meal a day. Many fisherman begin selling fish under the table to avoid sales taxes. Government subsidies to the unemployed are at an all time low of 850,000 Arcs Monthly ($850.00). The Bank of the Arctic has given a loan to the government of 100,000,000,000,000 (USD: 100 Billion), putting the government into deep debt. Houses are being foreclosed at the rate of 8 houses per 10 seconds. All flights in and out of the country have been cancelled as the Government is using civilian aircraft to bring soldiers back home from Trondheim, Norway. This is only causing the economy to worsen as this is severely limiting transportation for imported goods. The cost of the transport for troops and weapons to come home in fuel alone is estimated at USD 180 billion. Many citizens turn against their government and refuse to pay their taxes, causing them to go to jail. Citizens refusing to pay income taxes are making the unemployment rate increase. Businesses are closing rapidly due to being damaged by Athenian Rockets and not being able to afford repairs. Military pay is decreasing rapidly as well. The Government is stumped and the economy is falling into turmoil. The current debt rate is increasing dramatically due to government money going to feeding the unemployed citizens. The extreme few jobs that are available are reported to only pay at a low rate of USD $0.50 per hour. The Government is working out a plan to borrow USD: 500 billion for the sole purpose of creating businesses and jobs.

Spitsbergen City Bank, The First Arctic Bank, and The Federal Arctic Bank have given a joint loan of USD $530 Billion to the Federation in order to improve government resources. A recent oil pocket has been found off the coast of Svalbard and an oil pump has been dropped onto the site before any other nation can claim it. Suspected to provide around ~1,000 jobs for the economy. $300 Billion was sent to damaged businesses in order to fix reparations, and establish re-in statement of jobs. President Varin also ordered the use of a controversial method of retaining money. The government has began killing Narwhals and using their "horns" made of ivory to sell to citizens and export them to black markets. Suspected to bring back USD $43,000,000,000 in profits going directly back to the bank's loans. It will take time for the reparation of the buildings. The government has also put USD $100 billion into construction companies in order to improve their resources and speed up construction also increasing jobs. The Federation workforce is considered fully "mobilized" as the remaining USD $130 Billion has been invested into stock markets and such in order to improve the Arc currency. The Federal Government Budget Deficit is reportedly at USD [color="#FF0000"]-$730,132,314,142.92[/color]. President Varin issued a statement "Id rather see my people fed, in work, and enjoying what they can out of life, instead of seeing them hungry and miserable so that the government isn't in debt." This improved his popularity rate and the job market has improved drastically. An estimated +13.9% spike in employment. Government subsidies to the remaining unemployed have improved to a minimum of $1,943 as there are now less unemployed persons. President Varin said issued that The Federation is still in a depression, but is recovering. When employment would sink below 25% he would remove the depression phase and re-establish the economy as in a recovery phase. The Arc currency has jumped +58% but investors and Entrepreneurs remain skeptical to weather the recovery would last. The government continues to borrow money from Federal and Regional Banks to cover the amount of money put into the economy.

As reparations begin taking place, Construction teams rotate to maximize the effectiveness. The reparations gave to businesses would be enough to get them a "basic fix". The long repair jobs gave more citizens jobs and an income. The Arc Value increased 138% with Federal Investments into the markets. The Debt increased to USD $752,423,251,352.23, Approximately nearly two and a half times the GDP of The Federation. President Varin released a statement that he plans to make the debt even greater as long as The Federation gets back to a better state. The debt is controversial among Arcticans but it has increased public opinion of the President. The President is visiting Newfoundland today to speak to the government there about a combined currency deal, and also to speak about economic affairs. The citizens of The Arctic are getting back to work despite the recent prices. As unemployment went below 25% to 23.9% The President lifted the Depression and the Economy of the Arctic is on a Recovery base. Citizens are wary weather the unemployment will stay this low due to most of the jobs are in construction, but few jobs have been restored as of yet from the Athenian attacks. Time will tell the fate of the Arctic.

As jobs increase due to business and financial reparations, the Government continues to borrow more money while also investing it into the Stock Market. While this is largely giving money back to the citizens, the Government will be paying dearly for it later in Interest payments. The stock market's effect has increased the Arc another 321% making it worth 102.58 Arcs per $1 USD. As the arctic value increases, citizens scramble to gain as much money as they can, in hopes that they're money will soon be worth 2-3x what it is worth today. The Stock Market also yields extremely large investment opportunities to citizens as the Government poured in 130 billion into the stock market last Tuesday. The Federal Government Deficit has reached USD [color="#FF0000"]-$832,642,165,312.32[/color]. Citizens are deeply concerned about the debt but at the same time are celebrating the luxuries of a prospering economy. The Stock Market has also yielded major results in expanding businesses and causing large amounts of new jobs. Immigrants are currently being denied access into the country until the economy is deemed stable. The Government also noted they would not be borrowing any more money to invest into the stock market. The Federal Deficit is around 3-4x the GDP and that will take a large amount of time to re-pay. Large amounts of the more "wealthy" families are starting to feel the plunge as Varin threatens to enact a 20% One-Time tax on families worth over USD $250 Million, a tax considered to "Help out the less fortunate". As many of the wealthy are upset about this, Varin deems it needs to be done. The taxation would yield around USD $132 Billion Dollars in income to the nation's debt. The Government also let it be known that printing of the Arc will be ceased until further notice due to a potential currency exchange or joint currency program with Newfoundland. The Newfoundland nation may hold the fate of the Arctic Economy. Time will tell.

The Federalist party split in two last night. The Liberal Socialists on one side and Capitalist Monarchists on the other. In the middle, the centrist party arrives. These 3 political parties were now in charge of The Federation. The Socialist and Monarchists were fully at each others throats. While the big debacle unfolded, the debt increased to USD [color="#FF0000"]$832,523,532,723.52[/color] and the Arc Increased in value to 352%. The debacle started over the taxing issue. The Monarchists are against all taxes on the upper class and the Socialists are heavily endorsing the tax. The Senators were equally split among the parties as one senator declared apart of the centrist party. Varin publicly endorsed and became a part of the Socialist party as he places these heavy taxes on the rich. The centrist party remains at a small 7% of the nation. The Socialist and Monarchists are heavily against each other. In some parts of Spitsbergen small protests began to break out. Socialists support the increase of the debt to help out the lower class peoples, while the monarchists believe the debt shall only increase if the rich do not get an extra tax for being "successful" but everyone should get taxed a fair amount. The GDP per capita is recovering at USD $62,192. The Monarchists are in the works of establishment of a "Commonwealth of Arctic Regions." The socialists support the "Union of Arctic Regions". The rich seem to be the main ordeal of the debate. While many rich people highly disagree with the "unfair" tax, they mainly make up parts of the Monarchist parties. Varin fears a coup as the anger insures the country.

The Arc's value has increase another 152% this week. Making it a very strong currency once again. The debt doesn't increase by a major amount but is not exactly getting better. More focus is watched on the Monarchist threats to split the Federation in two, to form a better Commonwealth of the Arctic People. The Socialist president has received 100s of death threats and the country seems to be in a nation-wide debate on Socialism and Monarchism. Few of the centrist find themselves agreeing with both sides, but those that do usually are the most popular among both parties. The Monarchist keep pushing for reforms but the senate is also in civil strife as Monarchists always vote No on Socialist bills, and the Socialists vote no on monarch bills. The Centrist Party is making the full decisions of the nation. The Monarchists have already threatened to establish an army and they plan to highly reduce the debt in an economic alert tactic. Their plans have not been revealed and little is revealed. The nation is in a state of alert. Varin threatens martial law once again towards the ones who are conducting treason or are establishing a rebellion against the Socialist Party. If economic strides weren't enough, the civil strife will be.

Improvement in All Sectors/Tensions Calm/Prosperity Runs through Arctic[/center][/size][/color]

The debt has increased to around ~600 billion, through many major financial programs set out by Socialist President Espen Varin. The economic sector has greatly improved, as the Arc reaches an all time high of 1 Arc = 1.50 USD Dollars. The debt has greatly increased due to this as well. Production runs through the nation as unemployment is reduced to a mere 7.8%. A great improvement from the major disasters caused by war. The President has announced the country will soon be in prosperity rather than recovery. The economic sector has never seen gains this high. The monarchist party has seem generally pleased with the socialist party and the tensions are rescinding. The country is back on track and free at last from all the economic and political troubles caused as of recent events. The country seems to be all around happy with the current administration, especially as they become closer together.

Varin today declared that he will be retiring soon. It came as a shock to the nation, with his announcement of retirement soon, he also noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be changing the justice system. The Death Penalty has been enacted within The Federation. Jail times have also been extended. The Ministry also announced that the bill is currently in the works. The senate has approved the bill, but Varin spoke out against it. "We cannot return to old times and turn ourselves to the barbaric past fought off by our ancestors. These times were known for their brutality and overall harsh punishments." - Stated Varin. The Senate announced due to a Unanimous vote for the bill, Varin was over ridden from not supporting the bill and it was passed due to the signature of the Minister of Defense. The bill enacts that anyone serving time for Murder will live for 5 years until death. Rape cases will insure 15 years in prison then in severe cases the death penalty may be enacted. Anyone caught stealing will pay the person back, and then all assets will go to the Government, no jail time need be. Any one with a traffic violation is ordered to go home for the rest of the day. The Minister of the Interior said that crime has risen and that this new bill will scare people into obeying the Law. So far this bill is set to be enacted today.

The payment of this debt hereby opens more opportunities for The Arctic Nation. The Government's policies will be considering the lack of a debt and more forward to the betterment of the nation. The country currency, the Arc, has became about 1 in 1 with the USD currency. With a small difference it still is a huge improvement from the earlier depression seen by many Arcticans. The Country also roles in huge technological advancement during this time as the country has invested more in research programs. The Technology is considered first rate and largely advanced then previous technological advancements. The Federation of Arctic Regions is on its way up in the world, and improvement is the main goal. Advancemos Arcticus!

The Satellite's mission is to orbit around the North Pole and Arctic Regions and take pictures in order to establish a better database for location and research purposes. The Satellite is not able to take any pictures of foreign nations in compliance with their national security. The Jötnar I however does take pictures of the Arctic Ice Structures that are not claimed by any nation and also takes pictures of land masses and seaways belonging to The Federation of Arctic Regions.

President Espen Varin announces it will not tolerate Greenland claiming Bear Island off the cost of the the Svalbard region, Satellite images reveal 50 soldiers as well as The Greenland News confirmed that 50 soldiers have entered the Island. Varin deems the island as in FAR waters and is dangerously too close to Svalbard for foreign unknown settlement to be on the Island. The FAR government asks kindly for the Greenland People to "Back off" the Island. It has not been claimed by FAR but FAR considers it to be a wildlife reserve controlled by FAR Government.

Earlier this Morning, President Varin approved the "Cadillac Bill". The bill would use $19.2 Billion Dollars in Federal Funds to invest in a Cadillac Plant in Spitsbergen. This would set the Government back around ~$4.8 billion in debt, but Varin promises it will be paid off swiftly. A new Cadillac Escalade would cost $78,000 if bought today in Spitsbergen. After the building of the factory that price is expected to be reduced to around $23,000. The Factory will produce around 4,700 Cadillac Automobiles a day, using the most up-to-date technology. Most cars will be exported, but those remaining in Svalbard will be extremely cheap to those that wish to purchase one. The Opening of the Factory is expected to reduce unemployment a whole 1%. The factory will be opening up around ~48,000 new jobs to Spitsbergen. This is a major economical gain and the Government overall approves of it on the Monarchist and Socialist side. The New Factory is expected to be up and running in about a months time.

Varin also used approximately $29 million in funds to upgrade the Spitsbergen police cars to a new cadillac styled cruiser. Approximately 15 new cruisers are already in place and used by the cops with the most seniority on the force. With a new delivery coming shortly, the whole department shall shortly be using the new Cadillac Cruiser.
