OOC- sorry for this second thing, just that it's late and my mind doesn't seem to know how this works yet, funny as i do tho. Hopefully a innocent mistake can be forgiven.

The term for the Republic of Newfoundland's representatives are up, and it's that time when we need to elect 200 new members for the senate. Politicians from around the country are now campaigning, and mostly being funded by their respective parties. As of now, there are three main parties, with two that could change how this nation works. As of now, the polls are open, and for the next month (ooc- about 3 days) the polls will be open, and anyone registered to vote is welcome to cast their ballot at anyplace that allows.

The polls are open, and now the citizens shall vote for their representatives in the senate. The chairmen and such in their respectful parties will answer any questions.

Socialist Party

Ideology: Socialism
Chairmen: Aron Burks
Motto: Prosper and prosperity for all!
Overview: The people in this party call for everyone to share the wealth, and the government to help the people when needed. Their views tend ro range from radical communists, to various socialist ideas. Tho, most of the people in this party support the general forms of socialism, with the government encouraging small businesses, larger taxes to the wealthy to give back to the poorer, and various programs and projects to share the wealth. And maybe state control of some industries and companies. As this party is one of the younger parties, and believes in the shearing of wealth, several people are naturally drqwn to this party.

current issues

Foreign affairs: try to establish trade agreements and allow contact with other countries, va treaties and etc, to open ourselves more to the world.
Currency: get rid of our current gold and silver standard, try to establish a fiat currency system.
military: decrease funding by 2%
Health care: keep the hospitals and such privatized, allow subsides for medicine companies, and hospitals. Adopt a healthcare plan to help pay for healthcare. Create subsidies for clinics, and hospitals.
education: Increase public funds by 12% over 5 years. Set up loans and plans to help students pay for colleges and universities.
Transportation: keep funding for current roads and such. keep current airfare taxes.
Energy: Continued support and subsidies for the two current clean energy industries; 'Sunny-Skies', and 'Burning Sun Energy'. Introduce special taxes on 'dirty' factories.
Nationalization: Keep current gold and silver mines, nationalize other industries only as needed through court appeals and proceedings.
Taxes: slightly higher income taxes for the wealthy, slightly lower for the poor and middle class. Lower Tariffs, and inheritance taxes. Set corporation taxes to around 10% .
----
Island First Party
chairmen: Dominic Johnson
Ideology: Conservatism
Motto: Au nom de la vie (On behalf of life)
Overview: As the founding party of the current Republic of Newfoundland, it is only natural that these people wish to see that it doesn't change too much, to ensure stability. As these people prefer stability over change, they will rarely make strong changes to the current government. They also don't want to get involved in international politics, as they feel that some other nations may force us into some conflict.

Current Issues
Foreign affairs: Keep our current form of isolation, with minimal contact with other nations va treaties and trade agreements, etc.
Currency: Keep current gold and silver standard.
military: 15% increase in funding over the next 5 years.
Health Care: keep current hospitals and such privatized. Introduce tax breaks for the better clinics, and hospitals. As to attempt to lower the cost of health care.
education: Increase funding by 5% over 10 years. Encourage attendance to public schools.
Transportation: Keep current funding the same, lower Aviation Tax from 1.38% to 0.7%.
Energy: Continued support and subsidies for the two current clean energy companies; 'Sunny-Skies', and 'Burning Sun Energy'. Encourage use of green and clean energy by means of tax breaks for any company that creates and/or uses green energy.
Nationalization: Keep current gold and silver mines, tho we promised we won't take over any other industries or too many companies.
Taxes: Lower taxes for all forms of income tax. Lower tariffs. Lower corporation taxes.
-------
New States Party
motto: Qu'il y ait des richesses, la santé et l'éducation! (Let there be wealth, health and education!)
Chairman: Nathan Salopek
ideology: Tends to vary from person to person.
Overview: This party is one of the newer party to be seen, and it appears that it is hoping to make some impact on the Republic. Headed by the Republic's minister of education, this party's main belief is that investment in education is the key to success. As with more education they believe, will leave citizen healthier, happier, and wealthier.
-----
Current Issues
Foreign affairs: Try to establish connections with other nations, va treaties and trade and trade agreements.
Currency: Keep the gold stranded, as to make our money worth more.
Health Care: keep most hospitals privatized, with a few state clinics in every city to ensure a minimal health care for our citizens. Create tax breaks for private hospitals and clinics a swell.
Transportation: Keep current transportation and aviation taxes the same.
Education: Increase education budget by 16% over five years. Encourage attendance to colleges and universities by setting up long-term, low interest loans. As well as state funded grants for our best universities and colleges for those students who clearly deserve one.
Military: Increase military budget by 3% over 5 years.
Energy: Continued support and subsidies for the two current clean energy companies; 'Sunny-Skies', and 'Burning Sun Energy'. Encourage use of green and clean energy by means of tax breaks for any company that creates and/or uses green energy. Introduce special taxes on 'dirty' factories, and plants.
Nationalization: Sell our state owned gold and silver mines, no need to nationalize industries and companies.
Taxes: lower all forms of income taxes, and lower tariffs.

OOC note: I have planned to have your votes count. I'll also let my 'citizens' have a say, but that to me that wouldn't be fun. So remember, have your voice heard, and feel free to vote here. Also, this election will last for three days. And lastly, just want to say that I'm still sorta new at this, so some of the parties may look the same, but I don't intend to keep them like that.

From the Chairmen of the Socialist Party, Aron Burks. "We appreciate The Arctic Federation's support. We hope to do well at these polls."

(The following is on the Newfoundland's news comet news channel. Right now there is a Irish male speaking, in his usual brown news desk with his usual papers. )
The Newfoundland News Comet, showing you what's going on in our island nation

"When these polls first opened nearly a week ago, we weren't sure which party would take a lead. And today, with over 15 thousand votes counted, and several thousand more expected to come, we still aren't sure which party will win the majority. We have the candidates of each of the parties trying to secure votes by promising lower taxes, and attempts to build up our nation in one way or another. So far; the the Socialist Party has received about 38.3% of the votes, the Island First Party has received about 28.4% of the votes, and the New States party has received about 33.3% of the votes. Even tho it seems that the Socialist party has the most votes so far, one has to remember that of the 15 thousand votes cast so far, that there is expected to be several thousand more. There has also been reason to believe that the Arctic Federation may have helped the Socialist Party, as they seemed to support them. Anyways, only time will tell what happens, and one can hope this nation can only grow stronger and go forward. And now Mark Lewis with sports...
OOC: Telling me I dinnae have the permission to vote or some !@#$...

IC:

"Though we find it a bit unusual that the Socialist Party contains adherents to all spectrums of the left, including radical communists, as a fellow member of the CAN, the Northern Federation will state its hope that the people of Newfoundland will elect the leader they judge the most capable."

OOC- don't know what that ooc was about, I just said in some long way that I plane to have your votes considered, to 'help' me choose witch path to take.

Aron Burks- chairman of the Socialist Party: "Tho it is unusual indeed to have most to all the spectrums of the left, you have to understand that we are a small nation. As such, we need like minded, or sorta and or almost like-minded people with us. As a fellow member of CAN, we can assure you that our peoples will elect whom they trust."

(Once again, the following is on the Newfoundland's news comet news channel. Right now there is a Irish male speaking, in his usual brown news desk with his usual papers. I guess he is the same person as last time)
The Newfoundland News Comet, showing you here and now the results.

"Today, after a good month, and over 300,000 votes tallied, it's time to say the results. As the days passed, it seemed at first that the New States Party would take the majority of the votes, and therefor receive the majority of the seats in the 200 seat senate. Tho today, with approximately 119,000 votes, is the Socialist Party! As such, they have received the majority of the seats in the senate, while the New States Party shockingly receives about 87,000 votes, putting it in the minority. Not that everyone actually expected the New States Party to surpass the Socialist Party, but it seems they may have got all their votes earlier. With the Island First Party going with about 94,000 votes. It seems that the people really liked what the people running in the Socialist party wanted for the nation.
As of Now, here is what the new Senate of the Republic of Newfoundland looks like: The Socialist Party holds 112 seats, The Island First Holds 43 seats, and the New States Party has received about 35 seats. With only 10 being independent. And with me right now is the chairman of the socialist party, Aron Burks.

So, Mr Burks, tell me. How do you feel now that your party was not only lucky enough to receive a majority, but a overwhelming majority?"
Burks: "My friend, I'm honored that our people has chosen to help lead and represent them. I can't believe that our people has chosen us, and I still can't. I hope that we will do all in our power to help improve our nation, to help us create a better state."
Reporter: "So now that you managed to have the majority, what do your representatives plane to do?"
Burks: "First things first, go out and say 'Hi' to other countries and nations and the like. Then see how the economy is doing, and have a try at that to make a economic power house. And lastly, to be there to serve the people." *With this, Mr. Aron Burks gets up and leaves*
"And there you have it. Now, let us go up, on, and forward, to see what the future brings with us. *Scene cuts to commercial.*

The Arctic Federation applauds the Socialist Partie's expected victory.
Aron Burks: "As such, we think the Arctic Federation for their support of us."
