He stood up on a podium marked with the symbol of his new nation. All of the walls in the room were draped with the flag of the Liatháin. He then laid out his short speech before him: [u][b]Declaration from the Ard Rí na Liatháin:[/b][/u] [i][color="#006400"]Centuries ago, many of our ancestors came across the Irish sea, to bring with them the renewed joys of Celtic culture. Their impact on our land was so great, that it still remains to this very day a large part of our culture. Its also the reason why you stand here before me today. I, Eochu Liatháin, declare a new age of Celtic revival for Cornwall and her Tuatha. No longer shall we be associated with the people of the east, but with our own unique culture. Henceforth we shall be our own nation. I now declare the Ríocht na Liatháin in existence! [/quote] During the 8th-9th centuries the Irish, mainly in Leinster, started to raid Britain. The Irish then gradually settled in Wales, Cornwall, Isle of Mann, and Scotland. Many ogham writings are also found in these areas, showing a strong Irish presence. The Ui Liatháin developed a large influence in Cornwall, until the time of the Normans. Now the people of these lands call for their return after many years of turmoil in England. I do not expect my people to speak Gaelic but, they will be offered the choice to learn the Gaelic language. Until we have sorted this out, English will be spoken. Note that their representative addressed them in English save for the last sentence. You are trying to find problems where none exist. Your state, on the other hand, appears to address its Spanish and North African populace solely in English. Who are you to criticize Liathain for its bilingualism? All correspondence from what is spoken to our people is translated from our mother tongues into english when put into the public domain as it is a very widely spoken language. The reason being, the fact that there is no vibrant Celtic culture in these lands. We believe it better for a future English nation to be established in our stead. Until then, our lands now refer back to our Germanic brothers who granted us our independence in the first place. May these lands return to peace and prosperity in the future.
