Restoring Peace and Security to a Lawless Region

The atmosphere was calm on the Bohemian border. Nordic forces, at the border, had been preparing for weeks. Day after day, tons of supplies in the form of ammunition, fuel and various foodstuffs were constantly being shipped to the jump off point. To hide this massive supply train, Nordic officials simply stated that they were preparing for war-game exercises and that all necessary supplies were being shipped to the area. None the less, some had their suspicions, but they were silenced by the Nordic Socialist Protective Service.

That attitude changed, when they were briefed by their commanding officer, Grand General Malcor Brashin

Soldiers of the Greater Nordic Reich

We are about to embark on a journey, not yet seen before. Before us, the forces of Germany are progressing through Bohemia with one target in mind. The Greater Nordic Empire. This evidence is supported by satellite photos, which show concrete proof of the approaching German offensive force. As such, Emperor Visari has decided to take the objective first and strike into Bohemia to stop the German forces head on. In three hours, we will be marching into Bohemia, in a bid to save our Empire!

Of course, Brashin was just echoing the official party line, which was to be disseminated to the Nordic populace. In reality, the Emperor had ordered the invasion to expand the Empire, and to bring “peace and justice” to a area of the world he had considered to be lawless.

Opening Strike: Artillery and Air Barrage

Combination of air and artillery strikes

As dawn fell across the border, the atmosphere began thick with tension. Nordic tanks and Infantry Fighting Vehicles stood still, with their engines on. Infantry were prepared as well. Finally, the signal was given.

The quietness of the front was broken by the sound of thunder as thousands of artillery pieces were launched across the border into Bohemia. Artillery from the pre-positioned Self-Propelled Howitzers fired thousands of high explosive artillery shells. These shells were mostly unguided, as to completely saturate the area and obliterate any border defenses. After the first initial strike, a second strike was launched. This was in the form of Multi-Launch Rocket Systems. Nordic soldiers and other crews looked in amazement as thousands of rockets launched into the sky.

These rockets were equipped with cluster bomblets, which would explode over the given area, killing any personnel or soft shell target. Indeed, it was a terrible and awe aspiring sight to see, as thousands of explosions lit the border area. In the end, the barrage would last over two hours and would exceed the tonnage dropped by Western Allied bombers on the city of Berlin, in WWII.

The Airforce began it’s attack, almost simultaneously with the Artillery. Lu-67 Tactical Multi-Role Fighters flew along the border. They unleashed their deadly payloads, which were one thousand pound GPS guided munitions. The Lu-67s would act in direct support of the ground forces. On the other hand, Xenian AWAC had set up an air defense perimeter. This would extend the range of the Lu-65 and Lu-67 RADAR systems, allowing them to detect incoming airborne threats and react quickly.

Bombers were tasked with knocking out Bohemian RADAR systems. Each bomber held a maximum payload of five hundred Anti-Radiational Missiles. They mostly flew behind friendly lines escorted by a squadron of Lu-65s. Upon reaching the border, they unleashed their payloads. The HARMs would turn on their active radiation detectors and dart towards enemy RADAR, at a speech of Mach 3. In the end, the Bohemian RADAR network close to the border would stand no chance; thus, blinding them to the activities of the Nordic Airforce.

After the initial attack, a second was launched. This time in the form of fifty hypersonic cruise missiles and eighty sub-sonic cruise missiles. The hypersonic cruise missiles targeted towards energy supply stations, railroads, factories, and gun emplacements, which were spotted by satellite. The subsonic cruise missile attack was mainly targeted at military airfields, which the rest of the missiles going towards important government buildings.

Second Strike: Ground Offensive

The massive air and artillery barrage had concluded, yet the next step was yet to begin. From the various jump off points, the rumble of Nordic amour could be heard. Leading the massive amour assault was the latest in Nordic technology, the Arca IV Nakil Main Battle Tank. With their advance optics and other technology, they would be able to engage enemy amour far beyond their visual range. Basically, the enemy wouldn't know what hit them, until it was too late to react.

Behind the tank push followed the Arica I Armored Personnel Carriers and the main warrior on the ground, the Nordic Infantry soldier. Each soldier was equipped with their Xenias Combat Infantry Gear and AVIR Assault Rifles. They would be more than a match for the infantry of Bohemia. Some infantry units were also equipped with Man Portable Anti-Tank Weapons and Man Portable Surface to Air Missiles. This gave the typical Nordic soldier the capacity to hold out against heavier threats, at least until support in the form of amour arrived.

Supporting the infantry were the Arica I Armored Personnel Carriers. A formidable infantry support vehicle, capable of killing soft and some hard shell targets. They would support the infantry in their quick advance, following up the breakthroughs achieved by the heavier armor divisions. Supporting the Ground attack around the clock would be the massive 254mm Self Propelled Mortar system, as well as regular Self Propelled Artillery and MLRS. The Luftwaffe would run the occasional air to ground assault, if needed by the Army.

BattleGroup Visari's Hammer will advance into Bohemia in multiple directions. Karlsbad Gegend, Pilsen Gegend, Aussig Gegend, and Liberec Gegend will all see Nordic troops enter simultaneously, which will possibly overwhelm Bohemian defenses and allow for a quick victory.

Official Statement from Kaiser Frederick Von Hapsburg I:

Today, Deutsche-Bohemia, was suddenly and deliberately attacked by ground and air forces of the Greater Nordic Empire of Dalmatia. I am truly saddened that the nation which gave us independence and hope for the future has betrayed us. But we will not stand by as our nation is slowly destroyed by our former Allie. Having said this, the Deutsche-Bohemia Army and the Government of Bohemia will do all they can to save our nation from utter destruction. For every piece of our land they take we shall make them pay dearly, for every Bohemian they harm or kill we shall make them repay it, for every harm they cause to us we shall make them repay it. We will not go silently into the night without a fight, for we are Bohemians and we have something they don't. We have something worth fighting for! We have freedom!

Bohemia will not fall!

Classified:

After the Kaisers speech to the world, the DBA began moving 50,000 troops into the city's, towns and villages of Bohemia. They are to disperse among the many various buildings in each settlement to lay ambushes and to delay the enemy. If possible, the troops are supposed to create urban battles in these settlements. If they can, they will be capable of evening the odds with the Nordic invader. The remaining tanks of the DBA were placed in amongst the major cities such as Karlsbad, Liberec, Pilsen and Eger.

The other 40,000 troops of the DBA are to disperse among the wooded areas and hilly countrysides of Bohemia. Once again their purpose is to lay traps and ambushes for the Nordic forces, and disrupt their supply-lines.

Causalities:

Over 20,000 troops were killed during the first attacks of the Nordic Empire. Over 45 tanks were destroyed, while 5 aircraft were destroyed on the ground. The Von Richter line was completely destroyed. Infrastructure was also damaged by enemy missiles, and aircraft.

Initial battle reports were received by Grand General Malcor Brashin. So far, the offensive had exceeded the expectations of the Imperial High Command, and they expected Bohemian to fall within days. However, just as soon as the offensive started, Emperor Visari ordered it to a halt. Emperor Visari then sent an ultimatum to the Bohemian government. One he thought would be accepted rather quickly.
Government of Bohemia,

It pains me to see both of our nations locked in conflict. It also pains me to see your people suffer in a war that can be ended so quickly. Therefore, I offer you the following terms for peace.

1. Bohemia becomes a Reichskommissariat, under the total protection of the Empire
2. The throne of Bohemia is to be abolished.
3. Kaiser Frederick Von Hapsburg I shall become an Imperial Governor of the Bohemian Reichkommissariat, who answers to the throne in Welthauptstadt Tiblisi

We do believe these terms to be fair, and we await your response.

Reply from Kaiser Frederick:

With combined agreement from my office, the Imperial Senate, and the Bohemian High Command I have decided to accept these terms offered by the Nordic Empire. We hold our citizens lives in High regard, which is the reason why we accept such an offer.
With the acceptance of the terms by Bohemia, the Imperial Government began to enact plans to assimilate Bohemia into the Greater Nordic Empire. Under orders from Emperor Visari, Imperial Moff Josef Brant was deployed to Bohemia, to act as governor, chief of all administrative affairs, and chief of military forces in Bohemia answerable only to Visari. Kaiser Frederick Von Hapsburg I would become an Imperial Governor, answerable to the Imperial Moff. He would have civil control of his country as well. Moff Josef Brant will only interfere if need be. Visari's Hammer, the invading battlegroup, would be disbanded with the remaining troops being deployed to the Eastern Military District for security reasons. Of the two hundred fifty thousand troops, only twenty thousand would be left in the country.

The Rear Services of the Nordic Armed Forces, which was tasked with the upkeep military infrastructure, was tasked with rebuilding runways, power stations and any infrastructure damaged by the offensive from Nordic forces. The Nordic air defense network would also be integrated into Empire's network, allowing the utmost protection against air threats.

"Completely unnecessary. They could have achieved the same diplomatically and sparing the massacre. All they have done is generate an anti-dalmatian sentiment among the Bohemians, which until this operation viewed the eastern neighbors very favorably. Congratulatios on doing surgery with a caveman's club instead of with a scalpel." - Haas

We note no denials from the traitor Haas or the former Bohemian Regime about their intent to betray the GNED. The UFE supports our allies in the GNED in helping stave off aggression from Haas. We'll buy you guys all a beer as congratulations... in Berlin.

Also I look forward to personally kicked your ass Haas. -Jia

Last Official Statement from the Bohemian Royalist Government:

It has been claimed by the Nordic Government, that German military forces had entered into Bohemia. We deny this statement as no foreign military power has ever set foot on our sacred soil, until only days ago when the Nordic Horde destroyed our independence which is the only betrayal that has taken place.

It is true that our Nation was friendly with Germany, but we would never allow our German friends to attack through Bohemia at our creator. We held our motherland in the highest regard until now. Our people only feel hate and resentment to our so called 'brothers'. Now our people live under a government of fear and oppression, supported by an Asian Empire which deemed the massacre of Bohemian people correct to achieve something which could have been done diplomatically.

It might have been better for our nation to be destroyed free, rather then live under oppression and fear.

Chancellery of Cyrantia Official Statement

We of the Chancellery of Cyrantia feel this unprovoked invasion of Bohemian soil is grossly uncalled for and rash. Have the Nordics no ethics at all? It appears not; no sensible nation who have granted independence to a state would then invade and massacre civilians and soldiers to achieve what could have been done through diplomacy. Firstly, we believe the Nordics have no right to challenge Bohemian sovereignty at all, and secondly, if they had wanted to, why not negotiate a change of political status with the Bohemians? Why did the Nordics feel it was appropriate to present this farce of an excuse for invasion and then go to kill thousands, rather than simply present their desire to control Bohemia to their government?

We also understand Bohemia's acceptance of the terms offered by the Nordics, rather than fighting a large-scale war at the cost of possibly hundreds of thousands of lives. However, the Nordics should not feel at ease or victorious just yet; remember, what goes around comes around. Soon enough, the GNED will get a taste of its own medicine, and it may be wise for them to prepare for it. Enjoy your "conquest" for now, Nordics, it will not stay quiet in Bohemia forever.

While the Chancellery of Cyrantia and Bohemia were never formally diplomatically tied, we of Cyrantia do not take kindly to hypocritical tyrants like those of the GNED. It is the evils of the Nordics that have caused conflict, not the Germans, we know and accept that. The acts of bloodshed and violence occurring in Bohemia as a result of their unprovoked and greedy invasion are inexcusable. Thus, we want your government to know that should your government desire Cyrantian military or financial support, it will be provided. Meddling in international affairs is not our usual method, but we will support you against your oppressors should you call on us.

"Hass, I'd love having a chance at kicking your goose stepping sorry behind. Machetes or pistols, your choice, if I win I'm going to mount your head on a pike and make all of Berlin bow to it and apologize for allowing a scum bag like you to even come into power. If Jia says no, let me know when and where."

"This could have all been accomplished easily enough without depriving 20,000 plus families of their parents, siblings, or children. If you sought to give a message of shock and awe, you have succeeded; the Duchy stands in shock at this needless aggression, and your complete disregard for the life of innocent civilians is truly awe-inspiring."

High Chancellor, your support of my country is most appreciated. You go a step further to prove your statement by offering military and financial support to our suppressed nation. I thank you dearly. You are correct in your statement that us Bohemians are enraged by this unprovoked attack, by GNED. This anger will eventually erupt into open rebellion, and perhaps one of these days we will request your assistance. But I could not risk your own country's independence from allied powers of GNED, if you decide to aid us.
