Fatherland Defense War

Several millions of years ago a star went supernova. In the cosmic scheme of things a pretty irrelevent event. Few would suspect the impact it would have on a blue mote of dust in space.

For by pure coincidence, the various EM waves emmited by this natural phenonnom, intersected a particular antenna whilst at the same time waves from several other deep space objects hit. The combined energy was just enough to create a current on this particular antenna, and unfortunately by complete coincidence the waves added and subtracted from each other in such a way to precisely match a signed and encrypted signal that once would have been used to remotely activate a very secure device. Yet it continued to get worse! Somehow the false signal also included random bits that could be interpreted as targetting data. Three locations in fact came through, due the slight variation in the signal. The area's of Seoul, South Hamgyong, North Hamgyong and Ryanggang each would, purely by cosmic chance be on the receiving end of 4 nuclear warheads.

Still it got worse! The last warheads loaded upon the rockets were the kind used for excavating mountain ranges. 500MT* Penetrator rounds that could bury themselves several hundred metres into solid rock before detonating. Due to the shallow depth it did little to prevent fallout. In fact such a large yield would irradiate millions of tonnes of material and fling it into the atmosphere, but it also created a powerful seismic wave within the bedrock.

Under normal circumstances. The control station that received this message would have been adequadely shielded, maintained and staffed. Such events, as unlikely as it is, would have never have happened. However derelict, abondoned and just slightly exposed, it was the perfect situation to create the perfect storm.

And so 16 rockets were launched from their silos, still pristine from their preservation systems and propelled themselves towards their destinations. As they approached, they began to follow their standard routine - with MIRV's banned, the extra payload capacity of the rocket was instead dedicated to lunching dummy warheads to confuse SDI systems.

It was an unfortunate event, one that could have just as easily hit anyone and only served to startle the trapped inhabitants of those who once owned them.

IC: The nuclear bomb exploded over the Sea of Japan, as the Canadian Paratroopers were headed for Busan. The 500kT warhead destoryed all the Canadian aircraft in the area. With nuclear attack on the aircraft, the rest of the forces remaind in Japan for the time being. There has not been any word of survivors.

Outside of Manila:

As knowledge of the Korean intranet grew, the programmers of the Electronic Warfare Brigade would turn their attention towards more pressing matters: stop the weapons of mass destruction the Korean government was indiscriminately throwing at every army to land upon Korean shores. Their first goal would be to sever the lines of communication: specialized viruses, designed to work in the simplest of computers, supercomputers or anywhere in between would be inserted into the computers responsible for communications between the Korean command and the weapons of mass destruction. The viruses would seize control of the systems and block communications both ways to blind the missile crews and mute the Korean command.

MoG[Corp] transported by plane all 50 of the still experimental LSD cruise missiles to the Tanegashima, along with 50 or so MoG[Defense] air servicemen in the Ryukyu Islands, setting up the missiles took only a few hours, the workers well trained at doing their job, but some still "stupid" enough to allow a bit of the aerosolized substance to be released to get those close to the missiles nice and hallucinating, upon the completion of the first 20 missiles being set up, orders were sent from MoG[Tower] to launch at the 2 largest above ground population centers still remaining in the Korean peninsula, with the next 20 to be set up then aimed at the 3rd and 4th largest remaining population centers, leaving the rest on standby.

The missiles exhaust burst into flame, launching the Cruise Missiles into the sky, giving a show to the hallucinating workers, amongst them Captain(OOC: someone got a promotion!) Emi Natsuki, the commanding officer of the ground forces, she stood in wonder watching the beauty of the fire and clouds created by the cruise missiles as she watched them streak across the night sky, over the ocean to their targets in Korea.

Emi's subordinate, LT. Emem Mazin, a Western African, stood beside her watching the missiles in awe as well for a moment before asking, "is our involvement in this just Captain? What is our angle in this war across the world, the Koreans seem to need no assistance in the destruction of their nation." she stood silently for a moment, lost in the world the drug was creating for her, before replying, "Why shouldn't we be involved? If I learned one thing from my history classes, it's that civilians deserve happiness, even under the worst of government and circumstances, we get to improve our technology to deploy the drug on our future enemies, and give those lost souls in Korea a chance to experience some joy before nuclear fire engulfs every one of them, turning them into shadows on walls, it's the least we can do for them." As the missiles disappeared from view, she walked away from the influential, popping a Soma® pill in her mouth on the walk back to the barracks they were staying at, deciding she would take a detour after the mission was over, wanting to see the night life in Tokyo while halfway across the world, putting some music on from her laptop, laying back and enjoying the high for a while, deciding she would just take a drop or two of the large backup supply they had brought with them to relaunch missiles more easily from halfway across the world, along with the needed parts to modify a cruise missile into essentially a crop duster for another 40 missiles if needed.

The United Federation of the East appreciates the aid which you have given us thus far in engaging the Koreans in Space. I am afraid I must request further aid through our Treaty of Amity. It is my wish to see this war ended as fast as possible. This can only happen with the end of the insane Juchist Regime.

Therefore, we would like to request your assistance in three areas:

The Zargathian government would issue the following statement:

"Some time ago, a contigent of Korean military personnel have made their way across the Zargathian border. Upon their discovery, they had proceeded to open fire on our forces. Due to our defenses in the area though, these attackers have been quickly overcome, and we are currently in the process of interrogating the survivors to determine what their goals were."

"HOWEVER, we are downright appalled at the actions of both parties involved in this nuclear war. Due to targeting of the Zargathian-Korean border with nuclear weapons, close enough that not only the fallout, but also the blast itself reached into our nation, the use of weapons designed to create a geological instability and liberal use of nuclear weapons on anything that could even be perceived as a threat, including civilian population centers, again at times within visual range of civilian settlements inside our borders. Therefore, the Queendom of Zargathia hereby declares the following."

"Given that we are apparently left with no other choice than to participate in this war, the nation of Zargathia hereby declares war upon the nation of Korea. Let it be known that Zargathia will not be using nuclear weaponry, nor damage the Korean infrastructure where it can be avoided, and will provide aid to the civilian population while any Koreans that wish to surrender will be transported to POW camps led by members of the White Cross, in accordance with humanitarian laws concerning basic needs and requirements. Due to the use of Megaton-class weapons both by the Koreans as well as the Coalition, the effects of whom could and can still be felt within Zargathian territory, Zargathia sees no other choice but to invade Korea and thus create a buffer zone to ensure national safety from what can only be called rampant cowboyism."

-----

The forces close to the Korean border, put on heightened alert after the Korean attack, started to move into Korea. Light and heavy tanks and forces from bases near Tonghua, Baishan, Helong and Longjing joined up with other groups of infantry from smaller bases, and started the journey that would take them over the Korean border. With them were a contingent of Rangers, all proficient in Korean, that would move in to scout ahead for signs of resistance. Due to the relatively quick deployment orders, troops from all over Zargathia would start to move towards the border, building up in the bases in case of a Korean counterattack, and to gather troops to coordinate future attack waves.

Regardless, White Cross personnel crossed the border in the shadow of the military, both to provide immediate care for any POW's that required it before being sent to camps within Zargathia, and provide relief in the form of food, water and shelter for the stricken civilian population while radiation teams saw to containing and cleaning up the nuclear fallout. They would soon notice there was fewer radiation than they had expected there to be, but this fact became a mere note in a battlefield report as the radiation teams started their work.

Deployed troops:

25,000 soldiers (of whom 10,000 reservists)
450 tanks (of whom 200 light)
200 APCs (used to ferry troops to the front and back)
15 Mig29 fighter aircraft
10 Hind-E anti-armor helicopters

Imperator Jia,

About the war itself, I will only say that the Koreans are getting what they deserve. such subterfuge as they used it is unforgivable.

Regarding your request of assistance,
1) Is most certainly possible. We will aid however we can with radiation clenup and medical aid once the conflict is over.
2) will be difficult, considering that we only have satellites at our disposal, but perhaps there's something in the hard drives of the captured satellites that is useful. Nevertheless, we will direct some of our satellites to try and find those bunkers.
3) We will immediately begin with this project. It may take a day or two to get the KE weapons into an appropriate position, but they will deliver enough energy to wreck any bunker's day.

With regards,

Laura Leclerc,
CEO, Sostra Holdings,
Chairwoman of the Board of Directors & CEO, Corporate Republic of Ceylon
[Classified]

Immediately after the reply was sent, some long-unused cogs in Ceylon's war machinery began to turn. Laura had promised KE weapons by the end of the next day, and she'd deliver them, costs be damned.
Thus, a massive, if short-lived effort went to melting tungsten into 15-ton rods, each of which would be fit onto a powerful rocket booster. The final weight before being launched roughly 18 hours later was well over 800 metric tons, most of that highly volatile rocket fuel.
According to the foreman of this effort, there was a relatively high chance of the release-mechanism failing, anywhere between 50 and 70%, according to various estimates.
Good enough for this operation, it was decided. However, the kinetic weapons were only brought into position for the time being. First, bunkers had to be located.
With some luck, up to two could be located - each would be a target of six of the supermassive KE weapons, totalling twelve. This left thirteen more, which would be targeted at all known and assumed nuclear/uranium enrichment facilities owned by Korea.

If successful, this would not only expose two of Korea's precious bunkers, but also massively cripple any capability to manufacture further nuclear weapons.
For the time being, the KE weapons were floating far above the planet's surface, waiting to deliver their payload.

The nuclear sub fleet moved in to position and were given the coordinates from the Novaki Commander. The six subs, each armed with 3 19.9MT nuclear warheads, were ordered to fire upon Hyesan, Kimchaek, and Hamhung, and underground bunkers in those provinces. Two airburst warheads were fired upon each city, careful to avoid friendly fire. Twelve ground-penetrating nuclear warheads were fired at the locations of underground bunkers, tunnels and supply depots throughout provinces 8, 12, & 14 (OOC: RL North Korea provinces for reference). These, too, were targeted carefully to avoid friendly fired.

In the UFE Base, 50 thermobaric, ground penetrating and airburst warheads were attached to the Hypersonic missile Novak developed many years ago. Acting like a barrage of arrows, these were fired at Korean bunker entrances, military factories and Chosun data centers. Roughly 15 airburst warheads were fired at military factories, 10 ground penetrating warheads were fired at various bunkers, and 13 airburst & 12 ground penetrating warheads were fired at Chosun data centers to ensure complete destruction of facilities.

Private to the UFE:

"Your offer is appreciated, but for now we feel we must decline. We feel that any sign of Coalition troops among ours will be the proverbial lit fuse in a powderkeg, and going on information gained through the interrogation of members of the small force that attempted to sneak past our border defenses has shown... interesting sentiments among the Korean soldiers. We ask that you trust our judgment. However, for the purposes of avoiding friendly fire our troop movements will be sent to your military command."

Added to the message was a chart where lines were drawn heading from the border into the provinces of Chagang, North Pyongyang, North Hamgyong and Ryanggang, including the city of Rason and the Sinuiju Special Administrative Region

Private to Mongolia:

"Your offer is appreciated, but for now we feel we must decline. The current military pressure on Korea by Coalition forces is strong enough that activating our defense treaties is not considered necessary at this time."

The entry of Zargathia into the conflict caught the Kim Regime completely by surprise. Just as the Japanese Imperialists were shocked at the USSR invading Manchuria, the tables were completely turned. Disray spread quickly among the troops.

This chaos was compounded by the massive nuclear barrage being unleashed upon the north. While the attack itself was militarilly inconsequential, with a vary low casualty ratio per successful bombing (around 5,000 troops), the mass deaths of civilians from the attacks on the cities and turned opinion against the self-proclaimed Enternal President. The last order sent to all forces before all communications were deliberately shut down and disconnected was "Fight to the death."

Propaganda streaming from the Korean-majority regions also helped turn the situation more volatile. Anti-UFE sentiments had replaced anti-Zargathia feelings, and the intervention of Zargathia was seen as something to be welcomed, rather than repelled.

Finally, the will of the executed Emperor was the last straw that broke support for Kim. The will was short, but the message was enough to spark represcussions: "The Mandate of the Phoneix has moved north. May Heaven bestow its Mandate on the fairest one." Fear that Korea would be under the yoke of the Chinese became widely spread, and the entire north fell into civil war.

The masses which had been preparing for war deliberately allowed the Zargathians to pass through without hinderance, guiding them through the intense maze of mines and traps which had been established all around the country. Thousands of Korean-Zargathians also particiapted in the intervention, helping with the . The situation was pure and simple: Koreans wished for integration into Zargathia, rather than face occupation from the blood-thristy Chinese.

In the midst of all this, all nuclear forces had been split up to the point it was impossible for there to be any way to destroy all of them. Each mobile launcher was with a dozen near-invisible UAVs, enough to fire a nuclear missile at the coalition if needed be. Meanwhile, the Kim Jong Un government, the ones that had grabbed power under the UFE and started the entire conflict, was moving south into Daehan Gangwon. This was certainly a bad move, since Daehan was also in full rebellion against Kim Jong Un.

The decisions were now clear: The Koreans would never accept the coalition, with only country, being the "Other Korea", so to speak, being welcomed. The conflict will continue on, until the Koreas were completely unified under one throne.

OOC: You better be happy I'm delaying work for you, Triyun.

The nuclear bomb hit Busan, as the last elements of the Labrador Dragoons were deploying. The 500kT warhead destoryed all the Canadians in the area(as well as half of Busan and any civilians unlucky enoguh to still be in the area), with the exception of about 17 reconnaisannce troops who were deep inside Gimhae just, beyond the blast range. There were original more, however, many of these troopers suffered terrible burns, some died soon after the blast, other a few hours later. The suruivors were orderd to moveto the fields south-west og Gimhae, were an evac would be arranged.
The Zargathians were surprised by the amount of support they were getting, and suspected that for a large part this could be blamed on the effect the Coalition's continuous bombings were having on morale. Most Zargathians had been brought up knowing firsthand the tension between Zargathia and Korea during their childhood, and to see them be welcomed as friends felt like a great relief to the Zargathians. Thanks to the civil war most of the work of rooting out an entrenched enemy had already been done for them, allowing them to move south at a faster pace than anticipated. More importantly, the unexpected public support gave the White Cross and radiation cleanup troops following the first attack wave information as well as access to the most devastated areas, where work could begin on setting up camps to provide basic humanitarian needs and medical care for those in need of it. Civilian engineers were used to restore access to clean drinking water and even electricity in some cases, and truckloads of food were being driven in from Zargathia so the people would no longer go hungry.

In short, the Zargathians were intending to use this unexpected development to its fullest potential by providing large amounts of aid to the population, by doing so riding the flow of pro-Zargathian sentiments further to the south. With the rebels' knowledge of the less known roads that were still operational, the Zargathians were steaming through the North at high speeds. It was however expected that the major cities housed most of the loyalists, and the Zargathian troops knew that sooner or later, they were going to have to earn some of the respect they were getting.

Classified:

An updated map was sent to the UFE, showing lands held by the Rebels and Zargathian forces. Though additional troops and armor were still pouring into Korea from bases in Jilin and Liaoning, there was very little resistance encountered in the areas marked as blue so far, whereas the brighter red sections marked areas where resistance was expected to be high. The darker red sections were areas of which sufficient information was simply not available, and could swing either way.

What might have been a bloody battle for Zargathia was almost overcome casually by the rebels pinning down the Kimist forces in the underground bunkers. With most pro-Kim forces having already moved south, it was extremely easy for Zargathian forces to administer the surface as it proceeded down the peninsula, with almost all of northern Chosun occupied in two days

However, hopes for continuing cruising was blocked by South Pyongan and Pyongyang. The region was the core of the Kimist regime, and 100,000 troops of the Capital Defense Command still maintained its presence. The fighting was brutal as the Zargathians and rebels (who did most of the actual fighting, with the Zargathians mainly doing the commanding) started its assualt into central Pyongyang, compared to the relatively easy advance along the east coast. Yet, one moved put extreme pressure on the "loyalist" Koreans.....

From a bunker in Chungcheondo, the former president of Daehan made a declaration.

"The Republic of Daehan can no longer tolerate the atrocities of both the hypocritical coalition and the Kim Jong Un government. We hereby secede from and declare war upon the so-called Greater Korean Republic, in order to bring down the menace that is destroying Korea..

Furthermore, we shall resist all attempts by the UFE to establish a colony in Korea. It is probable that Jia will attempt to use the brief occupation as his legitiacmy for reestablishing its foodhold on the Korean Peninsula. We shall say: It is the Koreans that chooses its destiny, and with full independence granted to the GKF with no treaty at all concerning succession, the UFE has no claim over Korea. A nation shall choose its destiny, and our destiny lies within our hands."

The relatively small Daehan military had been hiding presence so far, conserving its high tech land and marine forces. WIth the declaration of independence, the Daehan Marines began operations into Hwanghaedo from its main base in Baekryeongdo, capturing much territory in a single day. The Taegukgi and the Zarghatian flags would both be raised and used among the Daehan forces.

The conflict had turned into a 4.5-sided war, as the UFE coalition, the coalition connected Zargathia and rebels, Greater Korean Republic, and the Republic of Daehan going into a battle royal.

North Korea:

Captain Vitoldo Sang starred up at the gray sky, then to where is men were: Advanced Boarding Team 1. He stood at the edge of an outcropping of four- and five-meter tall rocks that hid his men from aerial view, in the mountains of northern Korea about ten clicks west of the ravine where they had ditched and sabotaged the damaged black hawk helicopter. Their chopper had been hit by anti-aircraft fire, killing two of his men and the copilot outright and hopelessly damaging the laser transmitter their mission depended on. Captain Sang dared not transmit anything via radio, lest he give away their position to the Koreans but under such circumstances they were effectively blind. The only signals Sergeant (II) Carrasco had been able to receive on his wide-band radio were Korean propaganda: no good for news and worse for morale. At Sang's request, Carrasco's radio had been silenced since they'd landed…

Captain Sang's train of though was interrupted as he brushed at a sudden pin prick in his face: it felt almost like a bug bite, but for the fourth time in the last few minutes he found no bug to swat away. Feeling slightly sick to his stomach, he slung his Pulse Rifle across his chest and reentered the rocks where his men waited.

The ground shook again as he walked, as if by a weak earthquake. "Another nuke, sir," Private (II) Yong Raya commented weakly from where he sat, slumped against a large rock. "Must've be a far away one, though." Sang only nodded as he brushed away another pin prick on his face; Raya looked paler than usual and had faint traces of vomit on his chin.

The nuclear detonations had begun five hours ago, they'd felt the first one before they heard it, a massive tremor in the ground that shook dust and small rocks into the air. The thunder arrived not long after, a dull roar that lasted much longer than the thunder of any lighting he'd heard before. The ground had trembled many more times since then; Sang had lost count, but he knew it wasn't good.

He had hoped his men would be far enough away from the blasts: so far they hadn't seen any flashes, a small blessing Sang was thankful for. He'd been through the radiation hazard prep courses though. He knew radioactive isotopes from the blasts could be carried for tens of kilometers and still be lethal. He also knew the symptoms of radiation poisoning, but was doing his best not to think about them.

"I s-sure h-hope the Koreans d-don't find us now, s-sir," Private (II) Joshua Hanuel stuttered. He too looked ill, slumped in a sitting pose against a rock.

"Why's that, private?" Sang asked; he knew Hanuel didn't usually stutter.

"My h-hands, sir," Hanuel held up his right hand weakly; it shook as he did so. "How am I-I supposed to put a bullet in a Korean if I can't h-hold my rifle?"

"Don't worry about private, a Korean would have to get past me first before he reached you and we all know that ain't happening," Sang forced a smile at Hanuel, ignoring a pin prick in his face to do so. "Just rest right there and you'll be find private. Try to think about your family, you know we'll all be heroes when we get back? We're on the front lines here, forcing Korean assets to look for us instead of fighting elsewhere. Hell, Manila should give us a medal this: just think what your son Seok will say when Carlos Burke himself pins a medal on your uniform."

"Y-yes s-sir, Seok would be p-p-pround." Hanuel paused. "M-may I have some w-water, sir?"

Sang nodded, passing Hanuel his own canteen. When Hanuel fumbled with the cap, Sang took it from him, opened it and handed it back. Sang picked up Hanuel's own canteen from the ground while Hanuel sipped the water; it was still full.

Once Hanuel finished drinking, Sang replaced the cap and continued his way through the rocks. "Sir, is that snow? I don't think I've ever seen snow before." Private (II) Ecio Jin asked as Sang wandered past the team's sniper's position. Jin was a Kyokujitsu Manila native; he'd grown up in Selenarctos and this was probably his first time out of South East Asia.

"Snow, private?" Sang glanced up and sure enough, small white flakes were falling from the sky. He held out his hand and a soft, white flake of ash fell neatly into it. "No, I'm afraid this is not snow private."

"Ah well sir, one can alway hope, right? I've always wanted to try skiing, you know but never had the chance… Maybe once we get back and this war's over-I should have some leave time racked up and some combat pay to go with it, right sir?"

"If you don't private, I'll march into your commander's office and make sure you do."

"Aye Captain, I'll hold you to that." Jin brushed the falling ash off of his rifle and began to wrap its optical scope in cloth for protection.

Jin and Sang both tensed as crunching gravel announced the return of Private (II) Kyung Almaraz. Sang relaxed once he saw Almaraz's face, but only slightly. Almaraz was a big man, eighty or eight-five kilos but the man's skin looked patchy and his voice sounded hoarse has he spoke. "Captain, sir, any new orders for us?" Almaraz's teeth were pink, stained with a touch of blood Sang noticed.

"Afraid not private, we're holed up here until an extraction team arrives or the Koreans force us out."

"Ah well, I've taken cover in worse places: at least this one is dry." Almaraz ended with an 'oof' as he dropped to a seat against one of the rocks, unclipping his Pulse Rifle and setting it next to him.

"Aye, indeed it is," Sang agreed with him, "take care of yourself Almaraz, and keep me updated if you spot and Koreans."

"Don't worry sir, those Koreans know what hit'em."

Another tremor shook the ground as Sang moved on, stirring up the ash that continued to fall from the gray sky. He ignored another two pin pricks in his face as he worked his way to the top of the outcropping and turned around to survey the survey the outcropping again. Sure enough, his men were well hidden: you wouldn't see them until you were right on top of them but it didn't hurt to be cautious and besides checking kept boredom and fatigue away. It kept radiation training memories away too.

Though the advance of the Zargathian forces went far beyond even the most optimistic of expectations, the Zargathian Commander Yelena Muromets decided that the advance would halt for the moment. While her forces had definitely come far over the past few days, it was also true that the actual amount of Zargathian forces at the front was vastly insufficient. In addition, the amount of relief goods distributed to the area under Zargathian control was starting to stress supply lines, and so the order was given that for the next couple of days, the Zargathian advance would hold as more troops were being sent to the front, forward supply bases were being set up to counter potential shortages in relief goods, ammunition, gasoline and army supplies. In addition, destroyed infrastructure was in need of repair -- at least to the point where APCs and trucks would be able to drive back and forth without too much trouble -- and there were still numerous regions where the Zargathians still needed to build up a small presence to assist the rebels in keeping order as the nation started to break apart. Where Korean AA could be repaired it was, where it could not the Zargathians attempted to install their own from either fixed or portable installations. Counterstrikes would be expected from the GKR's extensive arsenal, and there was a lot more land in need of defending.

After the declaration from the Republic of Daehan, it took a while for communications to be established between Zargathia and the new Republic. Once such a transmission was established, the territory under their control was subsequently added to the map, and an updated version sent to the UFE's Central Command. Due to not having actual visual confirmation, nor the means to establish such, the Republic's area had been marked in dark blue as per the latest reports of their Northern Rebel contacts.

Deployed troops:

29,000 soldiers (of whom 9,800 reservists), 1,200 casualties.
400 tanks (of whom 180 light), 50 severely damaged or destroyed.
195 APCs (used to ferry troops to the front and back), kept out of the fighting, 5 broken down due to mechanical failure.
15 Mig29 fighter aircraft, no losses
10 Hind-E anti-armor helicopters, no losses

Two bunkers in Gangwon were hit with 5 thermobaric warheads a piece. Two 19.999 megaton warheads were launched to low altitude airburst over the province to suck the oxygen out of and create shock waves against caves across the area.

Somewhere in the North Pacific

The last few months had been trying for the crew of the SMV I Don't Give a Flying F&@%. Having ceased all radio contact and running on minimum power to remain undetected, the crew had been living in spartan conditions, just trying to survive. They had surfaced near a small uninhabited and unmarked island in the Arctic and had set up a small base. Besides adding a small amount of fowl and fish to their diets, it allowed them to restock their nuclear arsenal. Black market dealings had been quite successful and enriched uranium had been delivered to this remote location, enough for the submarine to be well-stocked to cause quite a bit of chaos.

But the biggest boost of morale came when Captain Triyun had landed on the island by helicopter a little over a month ago. It was a surprise as numerous reports had stated his submarine had sunk with all hands on board. Triyun emphatically recounted how he had bravely tried to save the sinking ship, leaving the vessel only when the last crew member has gotten off. He then recounted about his detention in the UFE as well as exploits in Australia with piracy. Triyun gained prominent status amongst the men and was revered almost as a hero, a god amongst men. It was a matter of days before he was elected to command the crew for Operation Return to Sender.

Now, the submarine lay somewhere in the North Pacific. Two nuclear warheads had already been manufactured, and there as plenty of enriched uranium on-board to create more. Without warning, the ship fired the two missiles. Both 19.9999999999999999999999 MT warheads were aimed at Seoul to cause as much devastation as possible. The submarine began to surface to make a broadcast to the world...

To aid the UFE as per Ceylon's treaty of amnity with them, several satellites, civilian and military, had been tasked to survey Korea, to try and find out everything that could be found out.
They had been successful. By locating relative clusters of exhaust, patterns for camouflaged roads and entrances, comparing the details of old surveys to new ones and a few other techniques, two bunkers had been located.
In a stroke of luck, this effort had also led to finding several mobile launchers, which were apparently capable of launching nuclear weapons.

With all targets found and designated, the 25 supermassive KE pods were ordered to ignite and propel themselves at their targets.
Various problems with the speed of assembly could lead to a malfunctioning of ignition, guiding parameters, a release mechanism for one rocket stage and a few other things, so any malfunctioning rocket was likely to sputter out, simply detonate or fail to redirect itself towards the surface, slingshotting itself far away from the planet into deep space.
Those latter ones would ruin somebody's day, sometime in the future.

The targets were designated as follows:
Six superheavy KE pods for each of the two located bunkers, total of twelve.
Eight pods to destroy mobile nuke-launchers.
Five pods to annihilate any nuclear manufacturing capabilities that Korea had, and were known to the Coalition. If none or too few could be located, the corresponding pods were redirected towards further nuke-launchers.

The order was sent from Vanguard's command post into space.

All British Forces were recalled to the fleet, the Company of soldiers on Jindo retreated to their boats and made their way back to a pickup point where the helicopters would take them back to the fleet. On their return Joona, on orders from the King commanded the taskforce to return to Britain. The coaltions reckless use of nuclear weapons had caused the deaths of too many civilians and had achieved little in the way of exposing anything remotely useful and had certain done near to no damage to the Korean military.

The Paratroopers in Japan flew home the way they came, back across the Pacific and over Ursalia into Blue Heaven before refuelling and continuing to fly back to RAF Brize Norton.

Joona sent a message to the Greek Commander
"Commander of the Athenian Taskforce and the Coaltion,
His Majesty the King has commanded that all British Forces return home. He refuses to be associated with this war any further, regardless of how it started because the Coaltion will not show restraint with the use of nuclear weapons.

Signed
Admiral Joona
Commander of the British Expeditionary Force"
Due to the high levels of radiation currently in the atmosphere above Korea, bombing runs by the 420th and 430th Strategic Squadrons are to cease for the indefinite future in order to prevent unnecessary exposure to the pilots and avoid expensive cleanup on the planes. All forces in the theater are to take anti-radiation precautions as needed based on on-sight radiation measurements. Finally, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Brigades, plus 1,500 personnel from the 1st Brigade of the 1st Mechanized Division are to return to Selenarctos; they will not be needed.

OOC: I posted on before the weekend my troops moving (all the way back on page 3) so I assume they're in position by now.

IC:

"The Eastern world, it is exploding. Violence flaring, bullets loading. You're old enough to kill, but not for voting. You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're toting?"

"Sarge, what the hell is this !@#$?" Private Harry Warton looked over at Staff Sergeant Zach "Killer" Tanner, a grizzled vet who looked far older than his 37 years of age. His taste in music was much older than that as well, apparently.

"!@#$, Private? This is a classic song, and very appropriate for what we're heading into. Learn to appreciate the older stuff." SSgt. Tanned looked around outside their hovercraft. The five hovercraft from each of the three landing ships had been deployed, along with three dozen semi-rigid inflatables. Each of the hovercraft held 50 troops, and either two tanks or APCs/IFVs/CCVs, and each of the semi-rigid's held 10 troops, bringing the first wave 1,110 troops, ten light tanks, 10 APCs, 9 IFVs, and one CCV. The rest of the troops and their equipment was still on the three landing ships. In a way, these troops were the "lucky" ones. A nuclear missile aimed at the three ships wouldn't take them out now. The two nuclear submarines were submerged near the landing ships. The behemoths were large enough to save at least some of the surviving crew on their decks should the nuclear strike hit.

Their target: Mokpo.

SSgt. Tanner sat back down, strapping his helmet tighter.

"Take a look around ya boy, it's bound to scare ya boy."

"White Leader, this is Empire command, you are go for launch."

"Roger that, Empire command. White Squadron, we are go for launch." Commander Lavernius Tucker pushed the throttle forward as his FN-20 Seahawk shot of the deck of the ENS Empire. The carrier was based out in Chinese territorial waters near the Korean-Chinese border, but certainly in the Chinese side. Though the original thought had been the Koreans wouldn't nuke the Chinese, now commanders weren't so sure. The carriers were put on two separate randomized patterns aimed to keep them apart and moving constantly to lessen the chance of a nuke hit. The Seahawks, three squadrons worth, would attempt to fly cover for the landing troops.

It was up to the Koreans now. Would they fight hand to hand to start lobbing nukes again?

The First Marines Division moved into the merchant marine ships and began sailing towards the southeastern coast of Korea with fighter support.

Inside Korea, the 2nd Airborne Regiment would split up into four groups and move quickly towards the Korean coast to make sure that the landing of the Marines went smoothly.
