A Nation No More

"The Commonwealth of Canada has, in the past, shown itself to be a very aggressive nation, trying to seize Nova Scotia when its government was in turmoil. It was only the actions of international assistance that kept the Free State of Nova Scotia alive, and forced Canada to withdraw a large military force that was basically an invasion, rather then peacekeepers. The Empire of Pravus Ingruo has shown to be a much more stable influence in the region, and has allowed for other nations, like our own, to gain independence, when our lands were under EPI protection.

The Commonwealth acted in a unilateral move, without trying to talk with Pravus Ingruo, instead deploying troops in what could easily be described as a 'brutish' move. It is our opinion that perhaps the United States should look back into regional history and learn it before trying to talk with authority on the matter. The Cajun Federation recognizes this move by the Empire of Pravus Ingruo as the best result in this saddening situation."

"We, once again, have to state that the United States of America is no longer a tyrant imperialist, and uses democracy to gain any land, which as you see we haven't. If you rely on the far past to make a judgement of a revived nation, then perhaps you should not be listened to. We are in the present, not the past."

Official Imperial Statement

Statements such as these do not help the United States' claims that they are different from those in the past. Nor do they help the United States in their quest to end the blockades and embargoes placed upon them by a number of other nations. The United States should remember that in all technicalities, they are an illegal nation under the Harland Haiku. The Midwest Republic was given the land they currently reside on from an Imperial Protectorate. Seeing as the former state of Ohio fell into revolution and disarray, the Empire had every right to enter and restore order under the Harland Haiku. But we did not. Our actions your very own situation refute your claims of our nation being an imperialistic force.

The Empire has shown itself to be very generous in the past in regards to letting new nations form on her protectorates. Every single southern Canadian nation, and nearly every nation east of the Rockies owes their formation to the generosity of the Empire. Your claims are not backed up by a history of fact.

Our policy with protectorates is simple: the power is with the local governments. A Protectorate Governor, normally a retired legislator, is appointed to coordinate with local governments. The people of the Protectorate are largely responsible for their own local security. Imperial troops are not seen marching through the streets. The reason for a larger initial deployment was because of the unrest that precipitated the country's downfall, coupled with the aggressive moves towards the territory by the Commonwealth. We anticipate deployments will be down to 2,500-5,000 troops within two months.

Finally, they are not a voiceless protectorate. Each protectorate state, as Nova Scotia now is, are allowed non-voting representatives in the Lower House of our Legislature, and will participate in the Protectorate Legislature. In the Protectorate Legislature, representatives voted on by the people of Nova Scotia can help draft legislation to improve their state, or all protectorate states. At this point, it would go to the Lower House and Upper House for approval. They are an integral part of our legal process.

Signed,

"The United States of America will do the mature thing, and fully apologizes to the Empire of Pravus Ingruo. Perhaps we have acted aggressively in this debate. Furthermore, we recognize the Empire's ownership of Nova Scotia."

"We were speaking of the Commonwealth of Canada's past history of brutish, unilateral moves, not your own. When the Free State of Nova Scotia was in disarray, the Commonwealth of Canada tried to capitalize on the turmoil to seize key points within Nova Scotia and try to force a change of government by itself. It was only be the grace of international pressure that they relented and left.

We are not making a judgment on the far past, we are speaking of recent history, one that shouldn't be forgotten so easily. Our statement regard Canada, not you. This is our final statement in the matter, we are glad to see that this situation was resolved amicably, and wish the Empire of Pravus Ingruo the best in securing the futures of the citizens of Nova Scotia, we know they are in fair hands."

"As Speaker of the Tribunal I advise the United States to watch its language and its tone when addressing one of our Tribunes. If this is how you intend to speak with foreign dignitaries and address other nations' leadership, then I shall not have to wait long to see your nation join the long line of failed 'United States' incarnations."

As most American nations feel ill will towards the United States. Even west of the rockies, where the United States never even organized the states before the civil war erupted and the Tahoe Republic was formed. Our people see the failure of the United States, and do not want to see it rise again. I will, however, admit that this incarnation has fewer brass ones than any other incarnation.
