***CLASSIFIED TO UNITED KINGDOM***

Minister of Defense Harrison Finley,

The Kingdom of Cochin has attempted to claim multiple islands in the Atlantic in an attempt to gain control of large swathes of ocean halfway across the world with complete disregard for the local peoples and nations. This blatantly expansionist maneuver reeks of time old foreign imperialism and we request assistance in order to ensure that the situation does not escalate, and that islands are removed from Kingdom of Cochin control.

Our naval capabilities are not yet online, and we request the United Kingdom reinforce a convoy of Greenland assets en route to Tristan da Cunha if possible. You will have the gratitude of your allies.

Respectfully,

Harald Armansson
Greenland Minister of War
With diplomatic negotiations effectively over at this point, the Greenland Ministry of War took shared responsibility for securing the islands. Minister of War Harald Armansson was determined to utilize an overwhelming show of power to show Cochin that maintaining a grip on some rocks in the middle of the ocean would not be worth such high costs.

Transport craft carrying a 1,000 man expeditionary force was dispatched from the Sao Tome port to Tristan da Cunha, where they would land and reinforce the small detachment already present on the island. Two squadrons of fighters would be sent to provide air cover for the ships and the United Kingdom had agreed to deploy a battlegroup to escort the men and provide naval support if required. A further force of 3,000 men would also be shipped after the expeditionary force.

Greenland satellite assets would be re-positioned to provide real time updates as the situation continued to unfold. It was noted that a standard Athens patrol in the Atlantic had altered course and was set to interdict the Greenland convoy. The War Ministry immediately contacted their Athens counterparts to ask for the nature of the course change, and ask for additional protection and naval support of Allied Atlantic Forces headed to Tristan da Cunha.

The communication line would be left open between Greenland and Cochin however no further attempts at a diplomatic resolution to the situation would be made after Cochin had confirmed its intent to secure Tristan against the wishes of Greenland.

Instead, the following diplomatic communique would be made public:
Open Request to Preserve and Maintain Atlantic Sovereignty

In the past week the Kingdom of Cochin has taken advantage of the recent collapse of Transvaal and attempted to claim the Atlantic islands of Ascension, St. Helena, and Tristan da Cunha. By rapidly deploying troops, Cochin has committed an act of opportunism in an attempt to assert its continuing dominance of the Atlantic. The Kingdom of Cochin is a southeastern Asian nation and by attempting to secure these islands, one of which is already utilized by Cochin as a military installation, it is projecting its power over thousands of square kilometers of Atlantic waters halfway around the world. We take no issue with nations who wish to peacefully be involved with a thriving Atlantic neighborhood that includes nations from five continents, however we will not allow this power play to happen unopposed.

The Federal Republic of Greenland calls upon the nations of the Atlantic and world to come together and issue a clear and united statement that the Kingdom of Cochin will not be allowed to exert unlimited influence across the world from its homeland. We stand together and demand that the Kingdom of Cochin immediately remove its assets and personnel from the islands of Ascension, St. Helena, and Tristan da Cunha. All Cochin vessels and men will be granted safe passage back to the Kingdom of Cochin.

Should the Kingdom of Cochin refuse to heed this call, Greenland is establishing a temporary Atlantic Allied Forces unified command to remove Cochin forces from these islands. Any nation that wishes to join us in reclaiming Atlantic sovereignty is welcome to join the AAF. Through united military, political, and moral support we shall ensure these islands are removed of foreign elements.
For a long time the Athenian Federation has watched from the side hoping a diplomatic solution would be possible. It has become more and more clear each hour that this will remain hope. As such we will back Greenland in their call and have deployed our naval forces to the South Atlantic to protect the Greenlandic convoys. Do not take this limited declaration as a sign of reluctance. We will use all force required to keep the Atlantic clear of unwanted military occupation by non-Atlantic powers.
Finally after the announcement the Greenland Ministry of War would receive an overview of the planned routes of the patrol ships and that their objectives were to protect ships from Greenland.

The United Kingdom will stand by it's allies in Greenland and has deployed the Atlantic battlegroup to escort Greenland shipping and military convoys to the South Atlantic. The battlegroup will also protect allied soldiers in the theatre against all forms of aggression.

An act of aggression against the Greenland taskforce will be seen as an act of war against the United Kingdom and we will respond in kind.

Messages were sent to the Athenian fleet nand Greenland ships in heavily encrypted code detailing communication and radar details for the fleets to work together effectively.

Military Dispatch from the Greater Nordic Empire

Just like our allies in the Athenian Federation, we have been watching this situation. From the point of view of the Empire, it seems that one side is destined for war; while the other side has exausted all diplomatic options. Therefore, we have come to the following conclusion. We will stand with our Athenian allies, and dispatch two carrier strike groups to escort and protect Greenlandic convoys. An attack upon any Greenlandic convoys will be seen as an attack upon our fleet, and we will respond with all available military options.

--

Upon sending the dispatch, the Supreme Command of the Navy ordered two carrier strike groups to leave Porto and head south. Upon reaching it's destination, the fleet would then set up an area of operations between Sao Tome and Tristan.

"Well, bugger. The Greenlanders are being idiots."
"Who wouldn't have expected that? They're all too eager to try and enforce some arbitrary 'atlantic sovereignity', which, as far as I'm aware, never existed previously. They escalate things just to get their hands on a few more islands they can't even use, lacking any sort of naval power other than transports."
"And of course they call in their allies to help because they can't do anything by themselves."
"Naturally. Ah, well. Let's move some ships into the Atlantic."
"And those islands we gave them so recently?"
"I have something in my mind, regarding those."
"Oh?"
"Just you wait."

Tensions rising, Sri Lanka's forces around South Georgia would be reinforced.
Carrier battlegroups 03 and 04 - at the time without nicknames - would find themselves in the region soon enough, having been ordered there and incorporating ships that were there at the time into them.
They consisted of the following ships:
CBG 03 - 2 carriers; 6 submarines; 2 Destroyers; 2 Frigates; 3 Cruisers; 3 Battlecruisers; 3 Corvettes
CBG 04 - 2 carriers; 6 submarines; 2 Destroyers; 2 Frigates; 2 Cruisers; 3 Battlecruisers; 3 Corvettes
With a total of 41 ships, this was a considerable part of Sri Lanka's naval forces.
In the case of a conflict, these two fleets alone were capable enough to stand up to entire navies of other nations.

That is all for now."

The increased deployments by Sri Lanka had not gone unnoticed, in response the minimal escort would turn into a full combat group. The entire Atlantic Fleet left port heading in the direction of the conflicted islands strictly following the course followed by ships from Greenland. Constant communication lines would remain open with Greenland, Great Britain and the Dalmatians. In addition any new party to join on allied side would be added to this network.

Naval Command has ordered the eighteen submarines of the Nordic Submarine Force to move towards the mouth of the Strait of Gibraltar, where the submarines will sit at absolute silence. Satellites with EO (Earth Observation), CCD Imaging (charge-coupled device), and SAR (Synthetic aperture radar) will be directed towards the oceanic area surrounding Sao Tome and Tristan. In addition, radar altimeter, to measure the ocean topography, a comm relay network for data-linking the radar information from the other assets (awacs or the like, 400km from the target) and GPS down-linking will constantly feed information to the Submarine battle group, allowing them to act at a moments notice.

There is no reason for conflict to spread that far south. Sri Lanka and Greenland have reached a mutually agreeable decision that we recognize and respect. As such we see no reason to remove our troops which for the time being will remain on Saunders Islands. They pose no thread to Sri Lanka as long as it does not join in any hostilities against Greenland or her allies.

"If the Kingdom of Cochin is attacked, they may activate the defensive treaty we have with them, forcing us to join the conflict. If that happens, we will have to remove threats to our holdings on South Georgia, in the SSI and on Bouvet Island.
We would prefer to minimize damages to materiel and personnel of either side in the SSI, hence our request for you to temporarily vacate the SSI. Whether or not you will fulfill this request lies in your hands, and we will respect your decision, whether it is to leave for a time, or to stay."

The two carrier battlegroups were ordered to anchor near the Crozet Islands. This was considered close enough to be capable of intervening in conflict, if at all necessary.
Regardless of this, eight further submarines were ordered to move near Bouvet Island, where they would remain for the time being, sitting and listening.
Announcement from the Kingdom of Cochin

Such are the powers of propaganda that lies of any venality may be assumed halos of truth is spoken repeatedly and excessively. Let history stand testament to question on who is at fault for the crisis blooming in Atlantic Ocean. Let the world nations take note of our unilateral gesture of goodwill in which we relinquished claim on Ascension Island despite being the first to stake our claim on it. To the allies of Greenland, we take no offense in the fact that you have decided to step in to assist your allies, we just hope you know that you are aiding an act of aggression.

Any Greenland deployment or presence within a 50 NM radius of Tristan da Cunha would be considered hostile. The Greenland troops currently present on the island of Tristan da Cunha would be considered combatants in war.

While the conflict may for the time being remain limited to a sector of Atlantic, we hope that Greenland, its allies or any opportunists would not take this chance to expand the war. If you do, the Kingdom is prepared to meet you in war. Woe be to any one who thinks they can treat with the Kingdom unfairly or disrespectfully. The channels of diplomacy are open, we are not thirsty for war, but by God we shall not bow down to unilateral aggression.

His Highness Kerala Varma,

To: Sri Lanka, Minilla Island, United Federation of the East, Selenarctos, Arctica, Serene Republic of Vaule, United States of the Islands

As you may have noticed we are poised in the brink of a war in Atlantic Ocean. The claims and counter claims in Atlantic Ocean may have muddled up the scene such that even an act of defense may seem an act of aggression. We request you to assist us in securing our sovereignty over the islands in question viz, St Helena and Tristan da Cunha. If that may seem like a conflict of interest or an issue of treaty lock, we understand it perfectly. In that case we request you to prepare to defend us if opportune and nefarious elements may choose this time to threaten our other sovereign realms.

Yours Sincerely,

Kerala Varma,
The King of Cochin
The United Federation of the East notes troops movements on the Cochinese-Nordic Border. We urge both our allies to exercise restraint. Lack of conflict is preferable, but if conflict does occur we urge Asia not be a theater of war. Escalation there will be taken as a most unfavorable action and put us in a position where we would be force to make difficult decisions.

The landings on Tristan da Cunha soon turned into a bloodbath. The transports had successfully reached the island and had begun disembarking the Greenland marines when all hell broke loose and Cochin forces began firing upon the men. The landing craft were careful to ensure they landed on a part of the coast that was more or less secured by Greenland troops already stationed on the island, however they came under heavy fire from the Cochin air assaults and ground forces which had turned up in number. The transports were on the beach and staying on them meant certain suicide, so the troops knew the only way to come out alive would be too quickly secure a beachhead and take cover from the foreign airships. The Greenland men scattered in their squad groups and began to engage the enemy ground forces. Using the rocky Tristan terrain as cover, the Greenland forces sought to establish and secure their beachhead in order to create a permanent presence on the island.

Over 150 men died during the landings and another 45 died during subsequent engagements. Slightly more than 200 were wounded and most of the wounded would be transported back behind cover where they would be tended by the battlefield medics. Those that were only slightly injured returned to the front lines and helped their Greenlandic brothers return fire. However, the aircraft were the biggest nuisance to the ground forces and the ground commander radioed to the nearby friendly vessels asking for immediate air support to engage and destroy enemy aircraft. In addition, coordinates of Cochin forces would be relayed to the fleet so that naval guns could provide the necessary firepower to push back the Cochin forces. Satellite imaging would pinpoint other targets of interest including command structures and armored units for the naval cannons to destroy.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE REPUBLIC OF GREENLAND

The Kingdom of Cochin has elevated the current hostilities and has fired the first shots in this conflict. They have aggressively engaged a Greenland expeditionary force attempting to secure the island of Tristan da Cunha. Let it be known to all the nations of the world that the first blood spilled is on the hands of Cochin and it is already responsible for over 400 casualties of Greenlandic men and women. The Federal Republic of Greenland has no choice but to declare a state of war between itself and the Kingdom of Cochin for launching an aggressive attack on the Greenland people.

We humbly request the assistance and support of allies and friendly nations in the current conflict. We were not the first to spill blood and we do not wish to infringe upon Cochin sovereignty or escalate this conflict outside of the Southern Atlantic. However we will defend our men and repel these foreign aggressors.
The 1st Fleet of the Aviatrix and Exterminatrix fleets 1 and 2 would leave Lamu Naval Complex, heading to reinforce undisputed Cochin positions in the vicinity of the present conflict. The 3rd Exterminatrix Fleet would also leave, headed for the position of BBGN-06 'Calamity' and CGN-05 'Transcendent''s position within the USI's EEZ waters. The entirety of the 3rd Exterminatrix would reform, and immediately leave USI waters to act as a reserve fleet in the unlikely scenario that the conflict would spread. Remaining fleets would protect the Aeon's southern flank, as well as set themselves up for movement within the Indian should the Cochin and Sri Lankan homelands be placed in jeopardy.

Times were precarious, and with the high volume of traffic within the contested Ocean, care would be given to ensure no Aeon submarines would be involved in pre-emptive hostilities.

With Groups Alpha (NPO), Beta (SPO) and Gamma(NAO) still within Aeon waters following the general retreat of Nodic reprisal attacks created by the Aeon during the Monacan war, only Groups Delta (SAO), Epsilon (SO) and Zeta (IO) were in any position to affect the current conflict. They would remain at the heightened alert status they always enacted, but would focus more on evasion and reserve fleet activities in the interim. Care was to be given that the subs would not draw the ire of the Greenlandic coalition.

All Naval assets would observe complete discipline when contacting foreign forces. All anti-torpedo ROV drones would be deployed from their hosts to detect any immediate undersea threats. While not appearing to be at full combat stance, their crews would be instructed assume it. Multi-function (AESA/PESA) radars would sweep the skies and space for satellites of potential interest, keeping note of their positions incase the need to destroy them would manifest itself.

Strategic as well as Tactical Air defenses would be at an all time high, with Airborne Early Warning, Control and Response (AEWCR) aircraft rotating at constant escorted patrol intervals to protect the fleets from air breathing assets. A perimeter of 100nmi would be set up immediately around all Aeon vessels, within which an extreme level of caution would be exercised. Conventional search and detection tactics would be employed, along with specially designated vessels within independent fleets who would be tasked with imaging wind velocities, with high resolution doppler radar. The swirls of air bogeys would leave in their wake would be sought out. Should contact be made, an intercept craft would be sent to the wake location and search for abnormal thermal patterns via their advanced Integrated Infrared Detection Units (Type-II Strained Layer Superlattice combined HgCdTe Infrared Detector). A combined electro-optical and infrared system, this system would allow the intercept aircraft to search the skies for distinctive airframe friction patterns, and thus track down stealthed targets.

Air bases in potential 'Frontline' positions would be on full combat alert status, the designated stationary Point Defense units active and ready. Combat engineering teams would begin to disperse from their stationed bases and prepare for emergency placement of the entire inventory of the deployable Point Defense systems outlined in the Omega Imperium Doctrine via 5 ton crane trucks. Anti-ship, and strategic air defense transporter erector battalions would be ordered on rotational patrols throughout the Aeon holdings.

Component sites of the Nodic DEW Network and other unaffiliated stationary and mobile radars would begin cyclic testing of their AD-MARS (Active Denial- Mission: Anti-Radiation Response) systems. In anticipation of Anti-Radiation missile attacks aimed at hindering or outright crippling Aeon search, track and fire-control assets.

The IWAn'SEAUP AshM launch Grid would be set to full combat alert status via passive electronic detection in the interim, as well as their own tests of the AD-MARS. Upon notification of hostile Surface activity, all three stages would immediately ramp up their fire control systems to Active Detection and peripheral target acquisition modes from the friendly ships.

All Aeon forces under the command of the Aeon not currently taking part in present hostilities were also placed on high alert, with extra care to screen for unconventional operations. Border security placed near the Horn of Africa, Eritrea and Sudan ramped up precautionary measures. The border with the GPn'S would be instructed to look for 'allied' reinforcements should they be declared.

T-280 'TRANSCENSION' HSAM-II's would be placed on alert to engage any attempts at interdiction or strike sorties against moving and stationary Aeon Forces. All stationary surface-to-air batteries within the homeland, as well as the frontier were instructed to regularly redeploy and displace current positions with a maximum allowed break down time of 25 minutes on pain of death. Batteries would consist of a 2 x 3 formation of the afforementioned HSAM-II's and Spangle Two-stage SHORAD Missile systems, separate from stationary and deployable Partisan launcher units. T-280 'TRANSCENSION' Hyper Velocity HSAM-III's remained on standby to engage incoming Intercontinental Threats alongside the S-117 'SENTRY' Ground-Based Anti-Ballistic Missile Defense systems.

A full nuclear response was placed on standby from Mobile Missile Erector sites, traditional terrestrial based silos and Submarine groups
