"Dia duit! [Hello!]

"I am Aoife Ó Cuinneagáin, Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland. Over the past several years, Ireland has come under the rule of people who, quite simply, were not from the Isle itself. From the English to the Scots to the English once more, Ireland has only recently had itself under its own rule: and she saw her economy, military, culture, and influence grow in leaps and bounds. Historically, others ruling over our Island have not had great rules: it was only after our exit from the United Kingdom that we rose to the top, becoming the nation with the highest standard of living in the world and one of the premier non-superpowers. The Schism, of course, saw the world decline and in the intervening some 50 years since, we have been with only one real Irish nation.

"However, that nation made several mistakes. Rather than stick to the same policies that lead us to greatness, our rulers were intent on forging a new path. While we climbed once more, we fell with the collapse of our Scottish brethren. Now we rise once more under the rule of the Irish. Nations rising and falling have been commonplace in this part of the world the past few years, and we intend to change that.

"I would first like to say some things about my our current status, followed by my goals as Taoiseach and the future of the nation of Ireland.

"Under direct 'United Kingdom' rule, we lost over half of our technological progress from just years previous. The status of our roads and power grids, hospitals and other infrastructure plummeted in quality by over a third. Maintenance was ignored and we lost in quantity what we have in quality. We lost our major programs for defense and civil engineering; our naval academies were shuttered, our barracks were destroyed and trillions of dollars worth of high-tech investures were shut down. We lost nuclear strike capabilities and the ability to defend ourselves from strikes. In short, we were as we were a hundred years ago.

"My goals as Taoiseach are broad. I wish to bring us above the technology level currently employed by the British and increase it by a 13% margin. I wish to restore our infrastructure to the levels the Scottish had before their downfall: to the point of economic stability without growth or risk. I wish to restore our defense and civil engineering programs; to restore our navy to powerful levels, to rebuild our army and restore the majority of our previous investures. Effective immediately, I have ordered a restart to the Nuclear Program, both offensive and defensive in nature - but only retaliatory in practice. Finally, we will seek not to be aggressive as we were only a few short years ago, but to seek out partnerships with all we can. Hard diplomacy is preferable to hard war.

"I wish for Ireland to return to its high rankings in freedom of the press and economy, democracy and political freedom. Ireland will officially pledge a minimal but sizeable amount of money to the International White Cross; any attempts at a European-wide bloc will result in Irish participation rather than resistance.

"Éire is here to stay. But, enough about us! We would like to formally announce the creation and Independence of the New Republic of Ireland, or simply the New Republic. Despite my rhetoric we owe our peaceful independence to Britain and thank them.

"On this note...

"The New Republic formally invites all nations of the world to come to the New Irish Gala, a month-long celebration of our newest independence and a chance for us to broaden our horizons and our formal relations. I hope to personally meet many world leaders - and many normal citizens who travel to participate as well. Thank you, and good days and nights, citizens of the world."
