Justinian the Mighty Posted May 28, 2011 Report Share Posted May 28, 2011 For weeks the Torun Research Station in Antarctica had been under constant surveillance by the Slavorussian military’s Main Intelligence Directorate. Although it was thousands of miles away the military had reason to believe that hardliners in the Torunian military may have fled to Antarctica and therefore the threat had to be neutralized. Using high resolution satellite photos, eyewitness accounts and old news reports the military had sufficiently mapped the territory and created a plan for an assault on the station. The military believed that the population of the station consisted mostly of scientists and construction workers. The exact number of soldiers, if any, was completely unknown. Nevertheless they anticipated that armed force would be required to capture the research base from the Torunians and finally end this wretched war. Polar darkness which affected the Antarctic circle this time of year and the pretense of commercial shipping masked the Slavorussian “navy’s” approach. A fleet of cargo ships containing vehicles, equipment and soldiers deployed a squadron of transport helicopters escorted by Mi-28 gunships to begin the assault to capture the station’s runway. Soldiers in white camouflage pour out of their transports and seize the buildings that will be needed to operate the facility. They are ordered to shoot Armed resisters immediately and without hesitation while anyone who is unarmed and resists is to be incapacitated. Once the soldiers had captured the airport planes from Slavorussia would land, unload cargo, refuel, return home for more supplies and soldiers continuously until the battle is officially won. The young blond commander got on the red phone and picked it up, "Now hear this - a resupply ship with 100 Marines is on the way to bring more food, water, and hands here... That is all." Several Marines let out a huge, "HOORAH!" All of the Marines were armed with M-16s and had plenty of ammunition since there wasn't any crime among scientists and no wild animals to kill. (OOC EDIT: My flag isn't the American one sorry)A large Islands flag flew under Torun's flag. The flag wasn't too high so it could be made visible from a far enough distance. Commander Edison walked outside to the flagpole and brought the Torun flag down... He raised a large United States flag on the flag-pole while several men saluted. The Torunian scientists were told that since there government was no more, the Congress and President had ordered them to claim the Research Facility for the United States and to protect the scientists saying they could return home if they would wish to. Commander Edison walked and looked at several bunkers that were destroyed by the snow and harsh winds. He had made sure that there were enough to sustain the population of the Research Facility however the "Research" part wasn't that prevalent anymore.. The civilians were just trying to survive while the Marines and Army Corps tried to guide them in the right path. A few Marines were sent on a little expedition to see if they could find any type of dry land along the coast however they were having trouble even finding grass.. The two National Guardsmen, each armed with sniper-rifles, Peter shoved his buddy, "So I was telling her, 'You can't kill a chicken without wringing the next first' but she was trying to tell me that it really didn't matter.." George laughed and shoved his buddy, "Women." George and Peter were in their white ghillie uniforms with the US flag on each of their shoulders and, [i]United States Marines[/i] embroidered below the flag. George pushed peter down and he looked through his scope at several large tanker looking ships. Peter looked at them, "They are probably just heading East to Athens's Antarctic land.. What's wrong?" George pulled out his radio and looked at Peter before he spoke into it, "We are suppose to report any suspicious activity Peter.. Plus cargo ships don't travel in fleets." --- Commander Edison listened to George softly talk and then told him to stay with Peter and watch the ships but to keep their low profile. Commander Edison grabbed the red phone, "Now hear this. We have several unidentified vessels in our area. Take defensive measures." The Marines and Army Corps rushed out of buildings with their ghillie suits which would keep them warm with body armor and artificial materials underneath. The Commander attempted to make whomever bordered the ships talk, "This is Commander Edison of the United States Protective Military Base in the Torunian Research Facility. This land has been claimed by the United States Congress and is now under the protection of the United States of the Islands. These are sovereign waters." Commander Edison waited for a reply. While this was happening, many of the men were getting thermal sights on their guns. [b]Public[/b] [b]The Orange House[/b] President David O'Reilly stood at the podium holding a dry rose, "I announce today that the United States Marines and United States Army Corps have claimed the Torunian Research facility for the United States per request of I and your congress. We are sending a resupply vessel which will be there in about a few hours to help the soldiers there and rescue and scientists that wish to return home.. However all scientists and peoples in the Torun Research facility have no government, therefor they have been given the title of United States citizens. When they return to the Islands they may request to either stay with us and keep their title or renounce it and leave to return to Torun. God bless the people of Europe." We were not aware Slavorians were taking any actions against us? We also would like to know why England does not support their closest neighbor in an attempt to help fellow Europeans survive and live. They made no attempt to broker peace during the Finland/Sweden/Slavorussia peace aggreement. We do not support the USI's attempt to hide and protect possible high profile members of the Torunian Government from Slavorussian authorities. Moreover we never stated that Slavorussia would take action against the USI. Infact, we never stated Slavorussia would take any action at all. IC: Yes and the scientists in a remote research facility are the evil masterminds of it all? The Torun Research Facility is under the flag of the United States of The Islands. king of cochin Posted June 1, 2011 Report Share Posted June 1, 2011 Kavaratti class cruiser CNS Excalibur (CR04) is nearing the USI Antarctic territories aka former Torunian Antarctic territories for the port visit. The fully armed warship has been sent with the express determination to provide security assurance to the Cochin allies in their stabilization of the territory. As soon as the warship nears the territory it would launch rocket launched S-RECO UAVs which would henceforth conduct 24X7 surveillance and reconnaissance of the region. The RF16 "Paraspears" Regiment of Jadayu Mark 4 fighters of the LAK-GAN Sector has also been alerted for possible Combat Air Patrol Operations and the regiment which has the mandate of protecting Station Gangothri already has a squad of 4 Jadayu Mark 4s stationed in Gangothri and another squad of 4 JM4s stationed at RCNB Ile St. Paul for immediate backup and support to the CNS Excalibur. The army support would be provided in the event of hostility by the 4th Infantry Regiment aka Tibetan Grenadiers, permanently stationed at Gangothri and heavy armor back up by the 7th Armored Cavalry Regiment, "The Zamorin Horse" which is based at Lahaul but has prepositioned equipment at Gangothri. If things heaten up one or more aircraft carriers patrolling the Indian Ocean would also support the combat operations. The research facility occupied the northern portion of an icy peninsula and was therefore easy to isolate. At the base of the peninsula where the Torunian territory ended and the unclaimed wasteland began a larger force of over 1000 elite combat troops landed on the shore. They planted the flag of the Slavorussian Empire in the icy ground and named this unclaimed wasteland Petrovia. The small isthmus of land that connected Torun to Antarctica was to serve as the rally point for Slavorussian forces. The military operation was already well underway and nobody had made any attempt to stop it. The airport only an hour to capture the airport and begin building a secure parameter around the facility. The USI's announcement hadn't reached the fleet for good reason. First the operation was already in motion when it was released, secondly the USI's action was considered illegal in the eyes of the Slavorussian government who saw the action for what it was, USI invading its "ally." [u][b]Moscow[/b][/u] The USI's announcement came across the Prime Minister's desk in written form. He had a message sent to USI's government via the Slavorussian Foreign Ministry. He acknowledge USI's invasion of Torun and informed the them that the research facility is a safe haven for Torunian hardliners supporting the war against Slavorussia. Any attempt to impede rounding up these people would be taken as a sign that USI was harboring these people and was an enemy of the Slavorussian Empire. We will not tolerate any aggressive moves this close to our own, fragile and important research." Just in case, two Jayasagara cruisers, four Yuhai frigates and two Sukanya destroyers were sent to the Sri Lankan base to protect it. They would arrive within 2 days of the statement. Would they really do this? Now? Here? This was suppose to be the easiest job.. Who would invade a block of ice? George radioed in to Commander Edison, "This is Browning and Remington to Game-Warden." Commander Edison echoed back, "This is Game-Warden. Continue Browning." George continued to speak, "The ducks are out of the pond I repeat the ducks are out of the pond. Orders?" Commander Edison signaled for an officer to come help him when he was done speaking to the two men who were watching the ships, "Return to reload Browning, the both of you." Commander Edison ended the transmission with that and the two men slowly crawled back out of view of the ships and made their way back to the facility. --- Commander Edison gave the order to an officer to have the battle sirens switched on. Commander Edison grabbed the red phone and spoke into the loud speaker, "Now here this! It has been confirmed we have a large number of bogies heading towards our area. Prepare for battle." All of the men in the base began running. Several snipers equipped thermal scopes and made themselves ready while many of the other men did the same thing with their M-16 semi-automatic/automatic rifles. They were all dressed in white and in the appropriate clothing to keep them perfectly warm. Several United States flags proudly waved off the sides of the buildings as all of the men prepared. The officer ran outside and shot a red flare in the air. It was the signal for the ship carrying 100 United States Marines and about the 10 United States Coast Guardsmen aboard the [i]Anastasis[/i] to come onto the mainland and into the facility. The United States Military helped Torun build this facility and has ensured the survival of all the scientists and children remaining in said facility. They have been given the status as citizens of the United States of The Islands. The United States Territory of Antarctica is sovereign United States soil. Any attempt to invade or blockade United States Territory, abduct United States Citizens, or kill United States Military officials will be taken as an Act of War against not only the United States of The Islands but several other sovereign entities. We wish to prevent bloodshed on this peaceful and beautiful continent but we will [i]not[/i] hand over our land, our sovereignty, our people, or our dignity as a free nation of the world. king of cochin Posted June 3, 2011 Report Share Posted June 3, 2011 CNS Excalibur steamed into the Unites States Territory of Antarctica's territorial waters and maintained position to optimally target the Slavorussian flotilla. A Bell 212 from the cruiser was sent to reconnoiter the Slavorussian flotilla and would also attempt via multiple frequency radio to contact the Slavorussians and urge them to move away from the USTA. As per the USI request a battalion from the 4th Infantry Regiment has been sent from Station Gangothri with an air convoy bringing their equipment to reinforce the USI forces. A flight of four Jadayu Mark 4s from the RF16 regiment has also been deployed to the USTA to support the operations and another flight of 2 ASPER stealth bombers from the RS02 squadron in Itanagar has also been rushed to provide heavy fire support in case of hostilities. Considering the escalation of tensions by Slavorussia, the 7th Armored Cavalry Regiment has deployed personnel for one brigade to Gangothri where after being mated with their prepositioned equipment would await sea lift to the USTA. Currently carrying only their basic infantry man's loadout their heavier equipment would arrive in subsequent airlifts. The 1250 strong battalion is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Heinrich Richter. The 18 BTRs, 30 BMPs, 12 155mm field guns, 12 helicopters, Axes and Trucks would arrive in the course of the next few hours as a dedicated airlift is in process from Gangothri to USTA. Thus the Infantry soldiers of the 2/1/4 Battalion would soon receive their heavier equipment to mount a really potent defense to support their USI allies. To assist in the defense operations a Merat AWACS and a MERAT ELINT aircraft has also been deployed from Station Gangothri. They would coordinate the 4 JM4s maintaining Combat Air Patrol over USTA territories. The rest of the RF16 regiment has also been alerted for possible combat redeployment in case things heat up. Commander Edison took control of a 50 caliber rifle from the top of his makeshift office and adjusted his sights. Private James was to his left spotting for him. Commander Edison looked down the sights using his thermal vision and couldn't see anything yet.. Hopefully it would stay that way. [b]The United States of The Islands The Island Douglas[/b] The few-hundred congressmen and women that helped run the nation were literally running into the capital building as David took his seat eagerly waiting for everyone inside. For the first time in Islands history, an emergency join-session of congress had been called. "Good evening my fellow colleagues. Time is short so let us pass what we need to." David read several bills. The first was a temporary defense bill that gave the Kingdom of Cochin full access the the USTA which meant the grand kingdom could sail any ship, deploy any soldier, and land any aircraft they saw fit for the defense of the United States. David looked down at the results and said, "The bill is passed unanimously." Every single member of Congress had approved the bill.. That was new. David looked through the remaining bills and passed several other emergency bills. A commander center had been set up in the capital building so that he could stay with congress. Robert took his place in the seat David was just in and he radioed in too OverLord. "OverLord this is President David Anthony O'Reilly. Come in?" OverLord, from his secret location, replied, "You are with OverLord Mr. President - awaiting orders." Robert ran over to David with a bill that was just passed and needed to be signed. Seeing that it had to do with beefing up defense, he stroked his full name and title over it. The Third Marine Division stationed at Camp Barra is fully alert and ready to deploy to defend USI in case on an attack on your home territories. Our Air component, GSF202 has already mounted a Combat Air Patrol by a squad of four Jadayu Mark 4 fighters. The frigate CNS Guderian has set sail towards your capital to provide extra defense assurance. As per directive from the King of Cochin we urge you not to escalate things in your home territory. A conflict, if it breaks out in Antarctica is best contained in Antarctica. Escalating the conflict to Europe would be extremely counter productive. A military and intelligence liaison staff headed by Brigadier General Thomas Antony is being sent to your capital so that the Command, Control and Intelligence assets of the Kingdom of Cochin may be shared with you in real time.
