Cloe looked out the window of what might as well have been her cell and schemed quietly. She'd been used so viciously over the last pair of years that it didn't even phase her anymore, but there was no question that escape was still heavily on her mind. Even moreso than usual if anything. Her mind had become strong from the long years of torture, her master had forced her to submit, broken her mind, made her his pet, kept her beautiful just for his use, but she had built herself back up gradually, in secret. Yes, escape was practically all she thought about. Some nights she would slip the loose bar out the window and squeeze through to walk along the little ledge just beneath, looking for some way to tell people about her suffering, to find some rescue, to escape. She had several options she knew of, though none of them were sure things in any way. Tonight would be different though.
She was standing on the little ledge, knowing she couldn't leave the grounds without being caught and punished viciously, having already tried that once. There was a shortwave radio in one of these rooms, she would just have to find it and it would be game over. She had no idea how to use a radio like that but she had to try, there had to be someone listening somewhere that she could transmit to. There had to be something. She edged along the ledge carefully, the thing only being an inch or two wide, her heels the only things that were on it. She nearly fell, catching her breath after the slip of her foot. The fall from here might - might - not be fatal, but she was sure that she wouldn't be walking away at very least if she fell off of here. She moved more carefully, opening the window to the little room from the outside. and moving in to do her business.
A transmission over Shortwave

Way Up North Where the Air is Cold France has, for the purposes of drilling for oil, begun establishing platforms on the East Greenaland Rift Basin and West Greenland-East Canada Basin, each of which is far enough from land to not have any posibility of claims of sovreignty violation in the future or present. Naval Movement The French North Seas fleet has been dispatched to conduct exercises off of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, it's standing colony in North America in combination with a detatchment of the French Army-Marine. The exercise, French Officials say, is aimed at assuring the people there that France is prepared to defend them should they require.

L'Empire Occupies Borders The French Empire today moved troops across the border of Alsacs-Lorraine into German territory in order to secure the crossing and ensure that there was no chance of the chaos now engulfing the nation from carrying over into French territory. The borderlands which have been occupied are 80 kilometers out from the French border, including the cities of Freiburg and Heidelburg. French troops have fired no shots at anything during the occupation thusfar, and are now fortifying positions to ensure that the nation of France remains safe through the disaster that is the collapse of Germany. Statements from her Imperial Highness are that as soon as things have settled within the nation, as they appear to be doing with the further occupation by Alvonia and the Northlands, that they will as well hold elections on the fate of the territory in their control, and that the sudden, disastrous collapse of a nation in such close proximity is a shock and discouraging to all who have seen it. No generals have been reached for comment. The number of troops within the borderlands have been determined to be several divisions of combined arms, but it is unknown how many troops France has held in reserve in the case of an incident.

German France was imploding "Deutschland fur die Deutschen!" the crowd chanted and walked down the street, elsewhere in the group where the chant hadn't caught on they were singing "Deutschland Uber Alles." The German occupied territory had been almost entirely shut down with protests such as this. French Authorities had categorized the protests as nationalist in nature, rather accurately, and reacted by attempting to contain the chaos to peaceful protest. The Occupation had gone well for years, French rule had brought a great deal of liberty to the German people, prosperity they hadn't enjoyed before, but the prestige of nearby Alvonia had finally begun to make them look away from France, and then become angry at being a part of it. Protests abounded The French legislature of the region promised reform, but none of it was satisfying. The people would take no less than autonomy, and in truth wished the right to merge back with a people who meshed better with their culture. Nothing out of the ordinary, as expected protests continued at a slightly slower pace than the days prior, the government were optomistic that they might collapse within the week, more realistically by the end of the month. But they rebounded back, full strength. Government buildings were almost entirely blocked off by the heated protest. A Catalyst... While some of the more hardline within the Imperium Council wished for more extreme actions in order to ensure Pacific Security, Hawaii was no longer in the hands of TIkal, but instead the Plains Federation, a nation that had also assisted in the Tripartite War. Rather than provoke their friend, Kazuko elected to arrange a conference between the Pacific nations.

France hereby requests the privilege of sending an ambassador to Oceania in order to discuss bilateral relations in the South-Pacific region.
-
Earlier today, a summit meeting was proposed by the Oceanic Federation. Oceania's president, Charles Bloy, cordially invites the leaders of Northlands, France, the United Kingdom, and a few other concerned parties to a conference in Midisle. The conference will pertain to the overall disposition of the Pacific region. It is expected that the President will have little pink cupcakes available to quench the leaders' munchies. A birds-eye view of Midisle.

When Romanians envisioned a nation state, they most often had a reference in mind - france. The powerful Latin nation state in the West, modern and respected, was the model from which Romania sought to learn and which Romanian inteligentsia fell in love with. Francophilia in Romania shows itself not only in flag and language, much of which was borrowed or inspired by the French, but also by much praise from Romanian scholars, which sought to immitate French culture, which they saw as what modern Latin civilisation meant, contrary to Russian Slavdom, which inspired most of Romania's neighbours. Still, the relations between the states on a political level, were rather lackluster, with no formal contact since long ago, and while Romania had been ambitiously working on itself for years, France seemed to have been preoccupied with its own problems. Maria, Queen of the Romanians had often stated, a meeting with the French would be a bit of a dream come true, however, the Queen had died just a short while ago. Her successor however, Mihaela Constante, was no less convinced, that talks with France would be a good idea, especially for Romania, that once again was the bastion of Latin culture, surrounded by Slavs and Magyars, and so, a message was sent, in French, to the French government in Orléans...

France at War! [All movements herein are Classified] A French declaration of War (To follow) was issued today to Britain and Romania in well translated and unencrypted versions of their respective languages just thirty seconds before the first missile from over three hundred unmanned aerial vehicles flying high over the British channel would land. The aircraft would be making for key British aerial bases, and major ports, as well as Army bases across all of the South, specifically prioritizing any aircraft caught on the ground. Following closely behind were thousands of cruise missile strikes, Japanese supplied BrahMos and French Perseus* missiles alike, targeting basic infrastructure, roads, railroads, electrical power plants, power lines, and cellphone towers all over the British Isles, so long as the destruction of these targets would cause no unnecessary civilian casualties. Manned strikes would follow shortly but were not yet in attacking. Meanwhile the French Submarine Corps sortied forth from its Atlantic posts to patrol for enemy ships and submarines. Forces of the Army are fully deployed throughout France to counter any kind of domestic incursion. Any British warships passing through the English Channel would be fired on by long ranged French artillery and the channel was lined with anti-air defense points. Text of the Declaration France hereby declares open war on the governments of Britain and Romania for violations against the allies of France, with the following assertions. Should all hostile parties agree to cease hostility against all allies of the French government and accept reparations, hostilities will be immediately cancelled, but should this not happen within the first month of the conflict France will be forced to pursue the war to the fullest extent possible, unto the surrender of all hostile nations. France will not cause undue casualties to civilian populations unless it is first done to France, nor will France deploy any manner of WMD in a first strike. France will not surrender under any terms should defeat come to it by some unforeseen circumstance.
*Seriously guys, even if it was the legit Perseus it would only be a little above the BrahMos. I didn't think I had to state this because you were all thinking individuals, but what I have here operates on only existing technology, meaning No, it isn't the actual Perseus, it's a BrahMos that looks different and is French.
One of the unfortunate byproducts of the relationship between the two Empresses was that neither of them held the equipment required to produce an heir, and bringing in a third party would mean the child was not entirely theirs. Kazuko especially was quite interested in producing an heir, she was getting older and her husband had died before he could manage to do so, the poor sap. She looked upon herself in the mirror and sighed, she was not getting any younger. Technology meant she hadn't aged a bit since 25, but the biological clock was still tick tick ticking. She arranged for a trip to France, and sent word to Jeanne, perhaps a night together would give her the courage to discuss that subject with her secret lover. The world was a powder keg, with Romanians threatening the nations surrounding them, a state weakened by tragedy lashing out at their neighbors. In another world she would have reached out to the new Queen, having been in that position previously, but unfortunately it seemed they would not listen to reason. The trip went by in a flash, the hypersonic aircraft made flying much less of a chore, though she counted every minute, this would be their first "date", in years, hopefully everything went by perfectly.

"Your Highness, it's so wonderful to meet you finally." the gruff looking Frenchman said to his Princess, "Though I wish the circumstances were better, I think everything's gone about how I thought it would." The plane was a disaster area, to say the least. It hadn't been a heavily booked flight thankfully, but those who had been unfortunate enough to have gotten a ticket on it were now quite deceased, each and every one of them shot, some unexpectedly, some in the panic that followed. The Princess' guard in First Class had hardly had any time at all to react before a pair of gunmen had burst in and cut them down with military efficiency. It was just the ten of them and her now, and supposedly two of them were now piloting it. So Cloe was left with their leader, who had managed to smuggle on a few heavy grade assault weapons onto the plane somehow, and was now sitting across from her where a close friend of hers had been sitting minutes before attempting to console her, now laying on the floor next to the chair having bled out some seconds ago, "I was hoping that you could help me with something." He was dressed in simple business dress, and spoke to the now horrified princess as if nothing had happened even as his handgun still poured a wisp of smoke, "You see, I've been having financial troubles and a man's come forward offering to fix them for a certain price." "That's where you come in of course." he continues, twirling the gun without putting a finger in the trigger well, proper discipline was required to keep an accident from happening of course, "I need you to come with me and be worth a lot of money to some people who probably don't like you. That way both me and my employer make lots of money." The Princess, terrified as she was and partially covered with the blood of several people she'd cared a bit about, could only muster up a weak whisper, "Who are you?" she whimpered out, still curled up in the chair her eyes blurred from the intensity of tears pouring from them. The man gave her a cruel grin, "Isn't this the part where you ask me what I want from you too? Oh gosh, I suppose I already told you that." He stops twirling his gun, the handle landing squarely in his palm pointing at her; she flinched, "Well hon, you can call me Gaston. I'm going to put you on Ebay and sell you to some crime lord or hostile head of state." His grin widens, "One French Princess-" he nods at one of his comrades sitting nearby, who smiles evilly back at him and stands, beginning to stalk over. They'd been promised the opportunity to have some fun first... "-Heavily Used, free delivery." She screamed, but there was no one within three miles who cared.

Chef de Guerre - L'Imperatrice, Jeanne De LaQueu Maréchal de l'Armée - Halefort "La Hire" Arsenault The French Military, much like in the Napoleonic Era, is organized into self sufficient Corps of 50,000 troops, able to operate independently of each other or in larger, more cooperative actions. The Army, at present, has 17 such Corps, each with its own traditions and superficially different dress uniforms. Rivalry is supported between the corps and competitions happen frequently to see which has the greatest degree of readiness when it comes to armed conflict in areas such as marksmanship, physical fitness, discipline, and ability to operate within the bounds of standard communication doctrine. The competition is given the incentive of additions to the pay-grade of all involved in the winning Corps. This rivalry is closely monitored to keep it from getting heated, but thusfar it has had the desired effect, training in all Corps continues well past the initial period, mandated at the lower levels by the officers within instead of by the greater organization, which might have generated resentment from the individual soldiers towards their government, instead of the officers directly above them. The games are some of the most highly anticipated events in the entire Army, and for the entire year outside of them the individual Corps prepare themselves in their own way, within their budget of course. All Corps are defined in the same pattern except the two special Corps, with Five Divisions each, One Armored (Cuirassiers), one Support (Artillerie, Génie, Logistique, et Communications), Two Mechanized Infantry (Fusiliers), and one Light Infantry (Chasseurs). The two exceptions to this rule are the Airborne Corps and The Marin Corps, which both operate on a different formation. The Marins are the go-to group for amphibious warfare, and as such they have one less Fusilier and one more Chasseur. The Airborne have a reduced division for support, and are entirely without Armored support, electing to instead have a pair of Divisions Fusiliers and a pair of Divisions of Chasseurs. Forces de la Patrie I Corps (La Guarde Corps) II Corps IV Corps VI Corps (French Foreign Legion) VII Corps VIII Corps IX Corps X Corps (L'Aéroporté) XI Corps XII Corps XIII Corps XIV Corps XV Corps (Les Marins) XVI Corps XVII Corps (Les Novices) Forces des îles du Pacifique III Corps (New Caledonia) V Corps (New Caledonia/Wallis et Futuna) Forces de Sécurité

OOC: Observer states are not listed. They have all received a private invitation. If you have not received this invitation, you are not present. *All transmissions are assumed to be fully secured using 2048 bit encryption and all available security measures.* Mount Kenya was a swarm of activity, as soldiers of the Republic ran to and fro in their duties. Queen Akinyi stood in the heart of her command center, dozens of maps, charts, and lists glowing on screens around her, listing the Republic's mobilizations and movements. Though the Republic had contained its activity to the African continent, save for its two island bases, its assets were not swarming across its territory and the world. Officers rushed by her, speaking rapidly into headsets, and the entire facility had been placed on maximum security lock down. For the first time since its rise from anarchy, the Republic marched to war with another world power. Catharine waved the reports aside and the screens went blank. She gave a curt nod to her communications officer, and the transmissions went out. The screens lit up with images of the leaders of the primary participants in the conference: France, Tikal, the East Asian Imperium, Yugoslavia, and Alvonia. Untold others were relegated to observer status, their faces lined up neatly across the bottom of the many screens. "Friends, allies, colleagues," the Queen began, and translators rushed to ensure that all could understand her words, "It is with a heavy heart that I come before you. While some few of us have gathered already for friendly exercises, intended to bring us together in the name of peace and cooperation, war looms upon the horizon. As you are aware, Europe has never been a bastion of stability, and now the rogue state of Romania has taken direct action against both the Great Lakes Republic, and Yugoslavia. This is in addition to its history of aggression toward Alvonia, and all other states that do not bend the knee to its agenda of domination." "History has shown all too clearly that we cannot allow such a rogue actor to move freely in the world. We must take drastic action to curtail the aggression of Romania, and we must do it now. The Republic has already diverted forces to engage the Romanians when they begin their war against Yugoslavia. We ask now that you all join us in the war for liberty and stability."
