  1. Tonight on the Factor! The NSO Coalition shatters! After months of tough talk GATO, ODN, TLR surrender! What this means for the future of NPO. Also, the Revolutionary Order Party -- and a rival -- announce their existence. Thank you for joining us tonight on the Lannister Factor. Over the course of the last month, the Lannister Factor projected that the NSO coalition would shatter if Polar coalition showed unyielding resolve. As expected, the NSO coalition has finally cracked, so far seeing three core alliances surrender. Unconfirmed reports from within Pacifica indicate confusion at the apparent backtracking from Emperor Farrin's earlier bravado. The Factor will soon invite Emperor Farrin to an interview to better serve our audience. We will keep you informed on this. This coalition political victory coincides with the formation of the Revolutionary Order Party and the publication of its Cybernations Little Red Book, which the Party calls a "living document." With its core of Vladimirist-Francoist ideals, it seems to especially target alliances with a history of or a desire for the efficiencies and wonders of Stability with Order characteristics. In a future segment we will take you on a tour of the party and introduce you to some of the people who are working towards a better future. Interestingly, Yolo Swag created the "Entropic Reaction Party" which mock-imitates the ROP. In other news, Franz Ferdinand, whom we had interviewed previously, has formed a new alliance. The Lannister News Network wishes him the best and has learned that the Revolutionary Order Party will be happy to lend advice and assistance to Franz in his endeavor. We also want to wish the best for the GOP who celebrates their fifth year on CN! This fine neutral alliance militarily assisted in the Peacekeeping effort against lulz Mushqaeda terrorists. Fine forward thinking alliances like these help keep the peace for All Nations and should be commended.
  2. The Lannister Factor is on! Tonight: Emperor Farrin remains defiant in the face of defeat! Why prolong the war and refuse to negotiate? Tonight we will tell you in a no-spin talking points memo. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aloha, I am Tywin Lannister, and thank you for joining us tonight. Emperor Farrin of the New Pacific Order launched a PR offensive today with an aggressive OWF post accusing the Coalition of obstructing peace. Now as you know this wasn't the first time Farrin has been combative during ongoing negotiations. Interestingly enough, Farrin begins his address by saying his alliance values it's foederati allies. This seems to be an acknowledgement that NPO's obstructiveness continues to be very harmful to Pacifica's friends. Let me ask you something Mr. Emperor: If you entered the war to defend NSO's interests, why don't you cooperate and negotiate in full faith rather than extending the war. Of course, from here the address illuminates little in the way of Farrin's true intentions, and instead devolves into a sea of bloviating: Now as you know Pacifica has not been reduced to the same extent NSO, NG, or TLR has. Two weeks ago we revealed that in an LNN exclusive: Despite the facts revealing that NPO has not suffered comparable reduction, they continue to bring up irrelevant NS numbers despite the fact that much of the NS was generated via cheaply purchased <1000 infrastructure purchased for nuclear warfare. A more genuine measurement involves meaningful statistics that indicate combat effectiveness, but of course Pacifican spinsters won't use those. The peace mode terms are fair and invite an alternative: NPO should commit their nations hiding in peace mode like their core allies have. But of course, the oppositions Grievance Industry are quick to label these terms "reparations:" Of course this is just silly. Reparations involve wealth redistribution from the defeated to the victors. Of course these are just more talking points attempting to distract the folks from what is really going on. Farrin wasted a golden opportunity to make positive overtures to the coalition and embrace negotiations, and instead decided to utilize colorful propaganda to sway the opinion of the public. Indeed, his defiance has likely made his allies position worse. Do you really expect people to believe this, Mr. Emperor, when the language of your announcement is so bombastic? I think it's reasonable to assume based upon this latest address that NPO wants a long war. Which is fine with the majority of the folks. Turning this war into a long term Stability Operation could be considered a good thing from some perspectives. But of course the PR hustlers will continue to paint the war as a "war of aggression." Talking Points agrees that Farrin should take a public stand on the issue, but the degree of vitriol used is counterproductive and makes the Emperor look like a curmudgeon. It is time for some straight talk, and I hope the Emperor is listening tonight because we need him to take leadership on this issue and begin negotiating in good faith, for peace. Stop pandering to the pundits and act in a responsible manner. And that's tonight's Talking Points Memo.
  3. The enemies of intellectual freedom and champions of lulz have continued in their campaign of blog spamming as I revealed in my latest blog post. My intent in utilizing the blog is allowing for freer discourse away from the rules of the OWF in my comments, and to keep everything I publish in one central location. Since this campaign of speech suppression has begun, I will now also post directly to the OWF so people can continue to view my analysis of current events conveniently. I apologize for the inconvenience.
  4. NUKES FIRED! DOOMBIRDS ASSAIL VALHALLA THE TYWIN FACTOR ICON, ROMANS JOIN AN EXPANDING EMPIRE -- PACIFICAN ALLIES DISMISS FRANCOISM -- IS BUCKAROO BACK... ALREADY? -- RIP TITO... YOU WILL BE MISSED -- RAYVON COMPLAINS OF OOC ATTACKS... AGAIN -- NSO RANKED #57 BY SCORE, NPO STILL #4 -- NPL CALLS MOGAR "ROGUE," THREATS HURLED -- UMBRELLA "LEAK" SUGGESTS NG ESPIONAGE -- DBDC ANNOUNCES "HUNGRY GAMES" POST-WAR -- -- NPO STALLS PEACE TALKS, FARRIN "COMBATIVE" NEWS SUMMARIES DBDC is maintaining a high profile, announcing the initial plans for a global Hungry Games in which the top 20 alliances will participate. The rules are not however set in stone, and the games will not take place until after the war. However, DBDC has also engaged in an upper tier offensive against Valhalla. Valhalla Marshall Windbender noted that DBDC has not presented a reason for the attack, and that Valhalla authorized nuclear retaliation in self defense. The Marshall went on to note that DBDC is "really in it to cause damage this time" and considers DBDC to be an aggressor. One "raid" stated "give NPO better terms" as the casus belli. This is the second DBDC attack on Valhalla since the war began, but the prior raids never escalated to nuclear conflict. On the Pacifican Front, further evidence of an empire in decline. Francoism, once considered the dominant ideology of CN, is now being dismissed by NPO's foederati allies and even by the newest generation of Pacifican membership. A sort of neo-imperialism has emerged, hungry for the power of the old hegemony but lacking its earlier philosophical nuances. This comes as a grave concern to those who suffered under the oppression of the Mad Emperor Moo-Cows who reigned in the last years of the Hegemony. The fear of such ambitious Pacifican sentiments is perhaps part of what continues to fuel the global war today. While NSO and the other foederati allies have suffered severe reductions in military capabilities, NPO continues to reign at #4 while preserving its highly potent upper-tier "banking" reserves and offensive capabilities. Thus, while the war began with countering NSO's brand of neo-imperialism, NPO has in time revealed itself to still be the primary political player of the sphere, and still a dangerous force to be reckoned with almost three months later. It remains to be see whether "Farrin's Gamble" will pay off with a coalition white peace. Is Mogar in trouble? NPL's leadership declared Mogar a rogue after he demanded R&R's surrender on the OWF. While RAGE represents a powerful low level wrecking ball, NPL govt noted that R&R is busy fighting a war and that Mogar's capabilities would diminish with a lack of foreign aid post-war. What all seem to agree on is that NPL wants their pound of flesh for their ally's defeat. Finally, a final goodbye to Tito of Non Grata. Our prayers go out to his family and his alliance.
  5. Although I had only been back a short time, I conversed with everyone I saw and pretty soon had developed a network full of interesting people. Franz Ferdinand was one of those people. Franz was the interior minister of Non Grata and represented the younger generation. With Non Grata's connections to DBDC, it seemed to me that a new generation of leadership would eventually bring Non Grata away from Pacifican Neo-Imperialism and into the mainstream. Of course, things didn't pan out that way, so Franz Ferdinand joins us today to share his perspective of Non Grata's decline. Thank you for joining us today Franz. Now, a while back as our viewers know, you were kicked out of Non Grata without any apparent reason other than perhaps opposing Steve Buscemi's political machinations. You were in charge of Internal Affairs, correct? Can you share your history in CN with our viewers along with your experience in government and leadership? I've served at every government level. I founded the alliances Black Dragons, NES, Monolith and Team Rocket within CNSE, and Pond Pirates within TE. Indeed, one of my better memories is of Pond Pirate achieving sanctioned status and a brown co-prosperity sphere. I was a founding signatory of the Red Dawn treaty bloc and supported the New Pacific Order after their defeat in the Karma War. These are a few of my achievements; however as I'm certain that you would like me to keep my answers short, I will cease on this vein otherwise Id be here forever. Haha! Continuing with the initial question, you are correct that I was the Minister of Internal Affairs within Non Grata. Non Grata has raised quite a few eyebrows in the last few months. From plotting to destroy Polar, to Steve's bloviating, it seems as if Non Grata's leadership is deeply entrenched in the Pacifican power structure. What was your relationship like with the three triumvirs? Which of the triumvirs do you think is the most reasonable in the face of the current global situation? At the time of my appointment as Minister of Internal Affairs, the Triumvirate was made up of Caustic, Tito and Dane0. Tito still reigns as one of the Triumvir's today right? Correct Tywin. Eventually it got to a point where I felt that the Triumvirate were not doing their job correctly and were actively withholding information from members along with lower government. The last straw was when Caustic decided to issue a demand for DEFCON 1 which apparently had not been sanctioned by the other Triumvirates. This resulted in me challenging him and Tito in the government channel and threatening to invoke a vote of no confidence in them if they didn't get their act together. Of course Tito threatened to smear my name on the Non Grata forums if I did that (and I expect he has done so after expelling me). Wow, so perhaps perceptions that Steve Buscemi was the sole bad guy here was incorrect. It sounds like Tito is quite ruthless with his membership. In the end, concessions were made where they allowed for a somewhat more open approach to things; but it was a minor concession, because the power remained in their hands. Eventually Caustic and Dane0 had to step down and were replaced with Steve Buscemi and Erwin Schrodinger. Comprising the current Triumvirate. In terms of these guys, I would say that Tito is too concerned with holding onto a seat of power and is very negative to opinions given by members. Steve Buscemi is a fun guy to talk with HOWEVER he does have problems communicating effectively on the OWF which affects Non Grata's reputation outside the alliance. That could be rectified is they employed a Minister of Foreign Affairs for this purpose however with the way the alliance is run, I dont think well be seeing that anytime soon. So Tito is the dictator, Steve Buscemi is the popinjay. Who is Schrodinger? Erwin Schrodinger is a great diplomat and leader and if Non Grata decided to go for a one leader approach, he would be the perfect successor to the legacy of King Xander the Only. On a side note, http://jsbin.com/EqAVELE further expands on my views and were a point of contention between me and the Triumvirate. Wow, well that's a lot of information even for me, but there's more. Rumors have surfaced that Non Grata utilized OOC hit squads to carefully monitor their rivals on the CN forums and report rules violations in an effort to intimidate and ban it's political enemies. As NG government, were you ever asked to conduct these efforts? What other unorthodox tactics does the Triumvirate use to eliminate both their internal and foreign enemies? I won't discuss all the details, but I have filed reports for a Triumvir as I knew the ins and outs of the rules. Generally, however, my services were rendered to Non Grata to pull off acts within IRC which were outside the bounds of sovereignty as a continuation of Team Rocket, with the most notable act being breaking into the private channel of RIA and listen in on their actions. This was done more to show that I could rather than a proper action. Recently I had compared the statistics of several Pacifican alliances and I noticed that between September and now, Non Grata has lost nearly 40 members, bottoming out at around 100 members today. One of these members was yourself. That's almost a third of their membership Franz, a third. To be more accurate it was around 28.5% of the member base. That's almost a third of the membership! Was the membership loss due to poor morale in the face of an un-winnable war, or more removals of internal political enemies of the triumvirate? Well, I personally think alot of the losses are due to automatic nation deletions after 25 days. I know that post-war, there was a rumour circulating the alliance of a splinter alliance forming to go after Valhalla yet I am unsure if this is still going to happen as the most notable participant of that (Sunny Side King) is no longer around so this might possibly no longer be planned. Woah, so a splinter alliance of ex Non Grata members could be hovering out there somewhere targeting Valhalla. Well, I don't know how probable that situation is. Non Grata recently published an OWF piece that apparently used espionage to condemn the opinions of an Umbrella alliance member. This seems to be a mendacious low-blow and an attempt to shatter the will of the coalition. Do you think this was another one of Steve's political manipulations, or simply a poorly thought out idea from the author? I personally think that it was an interesting tactic employed by the triumvirate posting that information because it highlights that Umbrella had a security breach. The information highlighted an Umbrella member's private opinion, HOWEVER, the problem with it is that it was not attributed to a particular person and thus could have been faked or were from someone who was not a major player within the alliance. Please opine. My personal view on the whole incident is that this wont break the Coalition. At the moment Paradoxia have set up the war in such a way that they have Non Grata and their allies in perma-PM and I'm sure that Umbrellas allies wont care about the triumvirate's propaganda. In the end though, Non Grata could really do with someone to perform an assessment, because at the moment, anything they post just doesn't carry any weight. I'd like to conclude on a note of hope. Non Grata currently doesn't face significant terms, and still has the opportunity to walk away from the Pacifican power structure and start fresh. But with an unelected and spurious Triumvirate, I suppose this may not be possible for some time. If you had the chance to lead Non Grata to a fresh start, what would you do as leader? Well, if I was to lead Non Grata, I would consider reconciling with The Order of the Phoenix in order to prepare for a revenge hit on IRON for their betrayal. Well, certainly an animated foreign policy ambition! I would also consider looking for more unconventional allies. When I was in the government of Non Grata, work was undertaken to get close with The Imperial Order and The Terran Empire. Unfortunately neither venture bore fruit due to the disjointed way that the modern Triumvirate operates. The loss of Doomhouse crippled them as a genuine threat. If I was unable to rehabilitate Non Grata, I would say that the only other thing might be to wind them up and allow for them to be remembered for their glory days rather than continue down the path of self-destruction which will ultimately engulf them. This is the second war in a row that they have fought on the losing side, and I have a feeling with the direction the alliance is currently going, this streak is only going to continue. Thank you for joining us today for this segment Franz. Coming up next, why Peace Mode terms are not really that harsh. Up later, why Neo-Imperialism won't be gone for long.
  6. Thank you for joining us today in a new segment called Global Analysis. GA segment will break down complex political debates analytically, allow you to make an informed decision as a loyal alliance member and citizen of the globe. Many years ago, this world was discovered and invaded by colonists. The first to arrive in their ancient ships were the proud and free people of GATO. They established the ideals of open government, freedom of speech, and civil rights and staked their claim on this world. Soon after, the might of Pacifica arrived, bringing Order to Chaos with their mighty war machine. From these origins sprang the original political philosophies of CN, which would impact both war and peace. With Francoism held high by Vladimir and the founders of the Order, NPO dominated CN for years with complete control of the hegemonic superstate founded in their image. They eventually broke GATO's will, and their ideology stood unchallenged until the foundation of Vox Populi. Vox proved that Pacifica under the reign of the Mad Emperor could be defeated with a coordinated network of revolutionaries and political enemies. Less than a year after Vox Populi formed, the Pacifican hegemony crumbled. If GATO was Greece, and NPO was Rome, then Karma was the barbarians at the gate. An era of Global Feudalism followed with numerous wars between various coalitions and alliances, and world population fell radically. Enter today's political atmosphere. Much has changed since civilized times, but several spheres have developed, most of them formed around an ideology. Today I will go into a brief analysis of each political ideology, and how each relates to the post-hegemonic world. Neo-Imperialism Mirroring the decline of Rome or even modern Russia, Pacifica's modern ideology is a descendant of what was in its prime called Francoism. Francoism was written by Vladimir and sought to establish both historical materialism as doctrine, and Pacifican history as proud. Over the years, Pacifica's retained her culture and pride, but generally abandoned political doctrine. This has resorted in a form of militant neo-imperialism which attempts to regain Empire openly for the sake of national pride and power, rather than on any materialist context. Neo-Imperialism holds together Pacifica and her foederite allies such as NSO, Non Grata, GATO and TLR. NPO is considered undisputed political leader with Pacifica's Emperors time and time again declaring themselves leader. Democratic Liberalism Generally, democratic alliances have either been resoundingly successful or abject failures. With a limited, educated membership democracy can perform very effectively, and elected government tends to represent their members interests well, and often produce the best FA leaders. Platysphere is very democracy oriented, with TOP, MI6, Umbrella and a number of direct and indirect alliances utilizing democracy. With a solid membership, democracies tend to produce stable FA plans and cool-headed thinking. Democracies require good membership, while autocracies need good leadership. Aged democracies Democracies like ODN, R&R and GATO (and many others) are often high in membership, indicating strong culture and an extensive history but sometimes also inefficiency and bureaucracy. Leadership is sometimes weaker as a result compared to more streamlined and active democracies, and often find themselves confused by the frequent wars that envelop them. Polar Liberalism If NPO is Rome, then NpO is Byzantine. Polaris has been much better positioned after Karma, and today has become a beacon of the CN Enlightenment. Many ancient philosophers (including from Vox Populi or Cult of Justicia) reside within Polaris, likely helping lead to Emperor Dajobo's benevolent style of leadership. This strength of philosophy has gathered unto it many lower and mid-tier allies, and Polar's star guide many in this age of conflict. Modern Neutrality Neutrality is not always so gentle. Neutrality has been attacked twice, once many years ago by the Mad Emperor Moo, and once more recently by Mushqaeda. Indeed, neutrality has revealed several shades, with some alliances like GOP reserving the right to engage offensively on behalf of neutrality. Still, even with Mushqaeda, the general sleepy quality of neutrality has not been shaken much with neutral nations continuing to grow while wars envelop the power spheres. The Lulz Most Lulz players are long gone, inevitably losing influence in the continuing struggle for survival that CN represents. While still culturally celebrated in many alliances, lulzy political moves are generally discouraged in the modern age as the global situation slowly stabilizes over a period of several years. Generally, even historically lulzy alliances comply with diplomatic norms today. Some believe Mushqaeda was the last gasp of lulziness in CN, and consider the phenomenon a coincidental 2000s fad. Doom Politics, Isolationism and others Doom Politics generally revolve around the alliance DBDC and represent an extremely powerful, high tier group of individuals who believe that friendships and relationships should guide foreign affairs. This point of view is celebrated by a number of alliances allied to or near DBDC on the treaty web. Isolationism is, of course, isolated in phenomenon but represents a number of alliances who are not neutral but also try to avoid entangling treaties. Isolationism varies greatly from alliance to alliance. OOC Ideologies like Communism still inspire a number of modern day alliances like INT and often still lead to bloody disagreements on the small to medium alliance scale. This is, of course, not a rigid interpretation. It is merely an analysis, and like all analytic products it can be wrong. So share your opinion on how modern politics works!
  7. Before we begin this segment, I'd like to to present a video highlighting the strength of will of the coalition: Recently I was fortunate enough to run into Chimaera at the Museum of the Imperial Assault Alliance in Yerushalayim. The nuclear warfare had taken it's effect on the Capitol, but of course the museum still stood. Chimaera and I both carry the status of Imperator Emeritus, although we shared different reasons to be there: whereas I visited to honor the IAA I had joined six years ago that day, Chimaera was apparently headed to a secret war meeting under the museum. It felt like old times to run into Chimaera, and I quickly proposed an interview. It's a pleasure and an honor sitting next to you yet again Chimaera, even if it is just for this interview. I know firsthand that your services to this coalition are unnumbered, and yet the world may never thank you for your hard work. How different is it to help lead a coalition, rather than just govern an alliance? Well, Tywin, it's a pleasure to speak to you again as well. An alliance, as a general rule, is a group of individuals with one overarching goal. Sure, there are some smaller machinations and plans in place amongst the individuals, but it is NOTHING like trying to help arrange and lead a coalition - the best way to describe coalition warfare is to imagine two large men trying to herd cats in the general vicinity of the other large man, except the cats have grenades strapped to them. There are so many covert (and overt, in modern Bob's case) political desires for each alliance you have to take into consideration - the whole thing is rather exhausting. Could you provide an example of such a stressful situation for our viewers? The most notable example of this, this war, was one alliance begging for a particular target. They were assigned that target, and then the night of decided not to hit said target. Now, they'll tell you it's because they didn't want to oA in, but I don't for a second believe that. You don't sign onto a coalition war thinking you're going to be using nothing but MDPs. Ah, I remember when that happened. It's always disappointing when someone backs out from a commitment. Indeed, there were many disappointments on the path to victory. Halfhearted commitments, coalition withdrawals, and the usual unpredictable chaos of war. Were you ever caught by surprise? Was there any point where you doubted that victory could be achieved? The only thing that surprised me about this war was how unbelievably BLATANT certain alliances were in attempting to backstab people. No-nuke agreements, plans (and leaked screenshots) indicating preparations to go BiPolar on the coalition, refusing to play by gameplans they'd already signed off on - in wars past, leaders kept that sort of skullduggery under wraps. I think its presence in the light during this war speaks to the general decline of leader (and member) quality in this game. As our viewers know, NPO is effectively stalling peace talks. Some have predicted this war now lasting through June, and siege warfare tends to be strenuous on logistics. Should the enemy refuse to yield, do you think the coalition is solid enough to contain the enemy for half a year or longer? At some point, war becomes massively unprofitable for both sides - what we're betting on is that the terms we've offered will be more amenable to the opposition than the continued obliteration of their allies and their lower tiers. I do not think this war will drag on much longer - either Pacifica will come to the table and negotiate (rather than the stonewalling and outright refusal to parlay we've seen thus far) or they will continue to be engulfed in the fires of war. This is not Equilibrium. Our resolve will not break simply because it takes a few weeks longer than planned. On that note, what do you think were the primary military objective(s) of this war? Which enemy alliance has performed the most effectively under the circumstances? Least effectively? The primary military objective, from MI6's standpoint, was to showcase ourselves as a premier military alliance at our tier. We feel like we've done that - we effectively blunted the early Pacifica attack on our Paradoxian allies and have dealt more damage per capita than any alliance on our side (and it really isn't even close). It was a bit of a coming-out party - most alliances' first wars are far from perfect, but I am quite proud of how we've performed overall. As to the coalition's primary objective, well, I'd say it was returning the game to a state of parity. There's 3 or 4 loosely affiliated spheres now, each of which could be the dominant power in CN should the winds of war blow their way. I think that's a vastly more exciting state of politics than a larger dominant force. Despite the taunts of the enemy, NpO and TOP seems to have synergy and really work well together. It seems to me that relations within the coalition will solidify in the wake of this war and cement into something stronger. What do you think? I believe you're implying a bloc status there, Tywin, and to me that just seems folly. Blocs are good for one thing, and one thing only - becoming a target. TOP and Polaris are both better off working together and being solid allies to one another than in planting their roots together. Blocs are too inflexible, too rigid a structure, too unable to change as politics necessitate. The only constant in Bob is that dominant blocs fall. I would rather not be party to my own downfall. Well, I'd love to ask you more questions Chimaera, but unfortunately we're out of time. Thank you for taking the time and joining us today for this interview. My pleasure Tywin. Up next, more on Non Grata's massive membership decline... and later, talking points will discuss the political highlights of the weekend.
  8. It's a bit of an adjustment changing careers like this. One day, I was the Hand of the King, arguably the most important and most powerful man in Westeros, and the next I was fired. It came as a surprise losing my job in the middle of a war. Generally, cutbacks only happen in post-war periods. The Tower of the Hand sucked compared to Casterly Rock anyway. Still, I was honored to meet Mogar in my brand new studio I had financed with my nation's remaining warchest. The news studio was arranged much like the one in ESPN's Sports Center, with up to-date monitors and equipment, and a highly trained television production staff. I would not tolerate a typical boring news channel. I had implemented all the lessons of journalism from Anchorman 2 I could absorb. The Lanisport News Network (LNN) would be the world's premier 24 hour news network. The LNN is not yet available in most nations, but I am pleased to provide you, my loyal readers, with a transcript. TYWIN: Thank you for taking the time for an interview with the Lanisport Journal, Mogar. I'm proud to say our very first interview was with someone as high-profile as yourself. MOGAR: Thank you for having me, I definitely liked the idea when you mentioned it to me and I'm happy to help get this started TYWIN: So what's your story? I've seen your nation, and you have a number of powerful wonders despite being at a smaller NS level. What happened? MOGAR: This is my third nation, and since my return I never really had motivation to spend more time than absolutely necessary in peace. That coupled with losing the first two global wars I fought in on this nation ensured I would remain in the low to mid tier forever. Basically, I'd rather collect casualties than Infra. TYWIN:: I think R&R can attest to your effectiveness at smashing their lower tier. You essentially seem to be a high profile member of the coalition filling a unique niche. MOGAR: The Polar coalition has had a few fronts with the need of my unique abilities, should an alliance actually declare on me, I effectively remove 6 nations from the war thanks to my nukes at the cost of only my nation. My wonder advantage coupled with my ability to figure out when my opponents are usually active ensures even in what would normally be a losing war I come out on top. TYWIN: So what's the seeming obsession with Ariana Grande? I think we've all cracked our share of jokes about it on IRC, but I'd like our audience to hear your take on it. MOGAR: I've always used a theme for my sig/avi combos. Ariana made a great choice because I am easily provided with alot of content without having to do any work, and get new content weekly basically forever At this point of the interview I decided to start breaking in some important questions. Pausing, I threw away my script to ask some real questions: TYWIN: Alright, IC fun aside, I really wanted to get and in depth perspective on this war and the coalition. Some people believe you are simply bandwaggoning with the winning side. Is there any truth to this? MOGAR: I would have fought alongside Polar whether they got rolled or were doing the rolling. I've been involved in the Polar Sphere through RIA for 2 years now and I generally stick with my friends; I have taken my beatings with a smile. Pacifica and the Sith wanted this war earlier, they just didnt have as many allies as they'd like on their side. TYWIN: Why do you think NSO coalition is in the wrong here? Do you believe they represented a real threat to global stability in the months preceding this war? MOGAR: I don't believe NSO is in the wrong per say, but they definitely should have made further political moves to attempt to prevent this type of backclash from occurring. You can't put forth the effort to plan to roll someone and not expect them to just wait for you to strike. This is not to mention if one were planning on rolling someone and then changed one's mind. one should probably do some FA work to make sure there's no bad blood. TYWIN: What do you think will be the political fallout from this war after it is eventually over? Do you think with NPO utterly defeated, they will cease to be a threat, or will they attempt to rebuild their power and strike again? MOGAR: IRON is going to be in an incredibly weak position for some time after this war is over. US is going to be in a weaker position due to them throwing their stats away for little reason, and I think they will lose some of their political capital because of it. Pacifica is always going to be a threat no matter their NS value though, they are one of the few alliances that genuinely plays the long game, and I wish more alliances had that level of drive and commitment. TYWIN: Polar coalition has taken alot of criticism for the use of overwhelming firepower and number of optional aggression treaty activations. Does this represent a legitimate global concern, or is this just more whining from NSO and their allies? MOGAR: It has always been a strategy to use whatever weapons at your disposal to force your enemies to surrender. The "optional aggression coalition" is just a propaganda line, using oAs to cover needed fronts has happened in every war ever pretty much. TYWIN: In as much detail as you can provide, how do you see world affairs shaping through 2014? What relationships will maintain and develop between the various power spheres? MOGAR: I think IRON will be politically isolated in the months after the war, they threw their lot in with TOP and because of that, they have to remain there for the long haul. Polar and Platyspheres should intertwine more than they currently are and realistically may become essentially the next hegemony. TYWIN: It seems to be a popular hope that the alliance between Polarsphere and Platysphere will result in a new Hegemony after this war. How would Pacifica feel about this? MOGAR: I am assuming Pacifica is already planning their revenge and may throw a wrench in my predictions, but I am thinking Polar/TOP will work towards keeping Pacifica isolated for at least another 6 months or so. We're in an interesting time period, I do not believe the next war will be as one sided as this one, due to no ones ability to deal with DBDC. TYWIN: DBDC is a whole other animal, and perhaps we will be able to cover that subject in the future, but for now we need to break to commercials. Thank you for joining us Mogar. MOGAR: My pleasure! TYWIN: Up next our senior panel will discuss NPO's true motivations behind holding up peace, and later, how long term warfare can improve an alliance.
  9. Prior to the beginning of the war, I had posted a few blog posts, a number of which illuminated a number of global issues. Readership increased and views reached into the thousands. However, I neglected my journalistic duty as editor of the Lanisport Journal Editorial to achieve my objectives as Hand. The position of Hand was very political in nature, and I was House Baratheon's primary high government intermediary with the coalition and head of foreign affairs. Because of how sensitive my position was, I had to stop writing editorials, delete my blog entries, and severely curtail my public activities. Now that I am no longer government, I can return to providing my perspective on world affairs to you, my loyal readers. Although my views are often unpopular, that is no reason to hide them. Generally, forward thinking individuals shake things up too much for the establishment, but in the end history looks back upon them favorably. Hopefully the Lanisport Journal Editorial will be remembered for in depth journalism and clear ideological perspective. Lord Tywin Lannister Lord of Casterly Rock Editor of the Lanisport Journal
  10. "Any man who must say 'I am the king' is no true king." -- Tywin Lannister The world has devolved considerably in my absence. It took years for the old hegemony to be overthrown, and what has followed the Karma War? Recklessness, irresponsibility and destruction. Vox Populi was formed from the remnants of alliances crushed by the Mad Emperor to combat oppression, but what followed was not what many of us had hoped for. In the beginning, the hegemony was not such a bad thing. Pacifica had forged the realm from the ruins of a thousand nations that had stood against her. A few neutral alliances and rebel strongholds remained, but most had bent the knee before the NPO. Guided by the strong philosophy of Francoism, the world experienced a golden age under Pacifican rule... so long as you didn't stand against it. It was Pacifica that defeated the lulz and brought order into the world, and helped influence such traditions as the Casus Belli and legalistic agreements. These practices contributed to prosperity and global stability. But the good times would not last. At the very peak of Pacifica's might, the Mad Emperor Revenge took the sigil of a cow and inherited the throne. Abandoning the pretense of preserving global stability and following Francoist doctrines, the Mad Emperor waged countless wars of aggression. Stories were whispered of how he brought the family of defeated leaders before his throne to be burned alive as his men watched silently. After his public enemies were all killed and driven underground, he began to turn on his allies, and alienated Pacifica's ancient Polar allies in the Far North. With these excesses, Vox Populi was formed to combat the cruelty of the Mad Emperor and his many minions. Growing from a group of EZI'd ex-alliance leaders like myself, the organization grew to represent the silent will of the international community in standing against the oppression and instability Revenge had wrought upon the realm. Although the military damage dealt was minimal, for the first time the Order could not find a way to crush this enemy, and their image of absolute power began to shatter in the minds of the masses. The reign of the Mad Emperor would only last another thirteen months. "Nuke them all, nuke them all" he was reported to have repeated in his last days of power. With the hegemony shattered by the Karma War, the question was now who would assume the reigns of power. It was a time of instability and fear, but there was no place for leaders like myself with the world in ruins. I left for three years and left the realm to sort out it's own problems. Unfortunately, no one was bold enough to challenge the might of the Mushroom Kingdom, and so a period of irresponsible governorship began based on the "lulz." For three long years the mushrooms ruled the realm, and yet they were far less competent than their predecessors. Lacking any core philosophy, they struck out wildly against their enemies, and sought only to preserve their seat of power fearing a resurgent Pacifica. They were never able to bury their enemies in the end despite the power they held, and global stability and the good of the realm was the last thing on their minds. With my return to the realm, I began to observe the decadence and undisciplined leadership that had befallen the realm over the last few years. Talking to dozens of people, I began to learn the true extent of decay our world has suffered. The last straw was dealing with their government the night before their disbandment. With the advent of Mushqaeda, I exercised all the influence I had to see to their destruction when they threatened global instability for one last time. With the destruction of the Mushroom Dynasty complete, and all of their descendants put to the sword, we now enter a new era. The coming war is inevitable, but the question is what sort of global leadership will follow? Will we see a new golden age of principled leadership, a respect for neutrality and micro alliances, and a desire to protect global stability? Or will we see more undisciplined governance and a lack of core values? The secret to a good empire is an inherent desire to see the realm prosper despite any personal qualms or interests. A good man will always place the interests of his family and his commitments first. Every action he takes as a leader should be calculated to protect and promote these interests. His decisions should set an example for others to emulate, and generally promote peace and stability. Without a core philosophy that embraces order and commitment, the next ruling entity will be as much a failure as the previous ones.
