  1. I was not aware of this situation as it was happening ([OOC] I've been busy with school, work, and vet school applications[/OOC]), but I assure everyone that TORN understands this departure. We respect Vanguard's opinion and although we may not agree completely with all political views, we wish them the best of luck. TORN wishes Vanguard no harm in the future. If there is any further issue with TORN to be mentioned in this thread, then I welcome a private conversation on IRC with myself or any other member of the current government. I'm sure we could find mutual ground, despite any political differences.
  2. Twisted. You better let me know if you ever come to Texas. Wellington and I will force you to drink beer and dance with hot women. I'm sure you'll hate it.

    TORN Q&A

In general, there were a number of circumstances that led to the decisions that were made; I think that if you read back in the thread, you'll find your answer. Hello, sarcasm. Nice to meet you. How are you? I am fine.

    TORN Q&A

The Orange sphere has always been home to alliances with varying political ideas and visions. It has always been the case that we have put aside our political differences in an effort to work together for the betterment of Orange as a whole. The future of OUT depends on this continued willingness, and the particular situation you point to has not changed that fact.

Brothers on Orange. B) We think TOP is an impressive alliance in both stats and diplomacy, but what were you thinking when you let that Crymson guy in?

    TORN Q&A

That statement is fair, yes. I'll attempt to get someone who was a part of that decision to address this for you. I fear that any attempt made by me would be unsatisfying. Both. The situation during the war was humbling; it highlighted the inefficiencies within TORN and how we needed to change to better ourselves for the future. The reforms we've undertaken are in response to these issues, and hopefully we can rebuild our alliance and our image. Different people, different attitudes, different organization.

    TORN Q&A

Duckroll may be classified as an "other" bloc. The redundant treaties between individual alliances make any defensive clause within Duckroll irrelevant, since the individual treaties already cover that. The Duckroll treaty signifies the unification of military power, and the coordination with which we will approach military situations.
  9. Fantastic job, guys! Now, about that beer...
  10. I love Crown & Anchor. Heck, I wouldn't mind having a meet-up there.

    TORN Q&A

Internally we have been trying several strategies to reinvigorate the membership. To begin with, we started an alliance wide program in which we're moving around quite a bit of money and tech. This serves to increase the activity of small and large nations alike. In addition to this, the introduction of trivia into #torn has been a surprisingly big success. We've seen a lot of members sticking around to play this. Further, elections tend to get people active, so the monthly election served to be a bit of an activity booster as well. In FA, government (specifically me) is trying to keep in closer touch with the ambassadors so that they understand TORN's goals and feel confident representing us to other alliances. I've encouraged them to take the initiative when it comes to alliances they'd like to get to know, and in general I'd like them to feel more comfortable voicing their opinions. We're hoping that these changes along with the structural changes will produce a better alliance environment. So far, it's going really well. We have a really great core membership; hopefully with increasing activity and the introduction of new blood the positive changes will keep on coming. World domination. We hope that fostering a more cohesive internal community will translate into greater FA stability and stronger relationships with other alliances. We were close with TPF and NPO for quite a long time. The relationships we held with them began deteriorating long before the war. Unfortunately, these things happen, and we must look to the future. Quite simply, we wish them the best of luck. Echelon is not really an alliance we've ever been close with, but this war has shown them to be loyal to allies, and that deserves respect. IRON and GGA are still considered close allies of TORN. Quite frankly, we them. kfg. Ok, it's been a long holiday weekend and work has been kicking me in the rear. I need some sleep. Goodnight, all.

    TORN Q&A

In my opinion, it was mainly frustration. There was a disconnect between membership and government, and while it was unintentional, it was definitely a problem. There were a number of differing opinions on a number of issues that came up during and after the war, and I think that in general there was a lot of miscommunication. The new government structure is an effort to close the gap between government and membership, among other things. TORN of course, but we would never deny your mad skillz.

    TORN Q&A

Like mad. tLC - There's been a lot of tension there. Not sure on the exact details of what happened before a lot of our ex-gov members headed to tLC, but it obviously wasn't good. The situation is unfortunate, but they did a lot for TORN before they left, and their leaving prompted the major changes that have happened recently in TORN. We'll always be thankful for their time with us, and for the changes they influenced. Hopefully we can find some common ground in the future and restore that relationship, at least with our ex-comrades. TJO - We don't know much about them. NSO - Well, everyone has an opinion, right? They've already proven to be an alliance that likes to push buttons, but we're not yet sure if that's a good or a bad thing. It really depends on their overall goals for the future. Seems like they have the potential to make some major changes on Bob. FAN - TORN has always had respect for FAN based on military talent, but there's not much of a relationship there now.
  16. Congratulations on the elections, guys. Best of luck to the newly elected.
  17. Congratulations and best of luck to you guys!

    TORN Q&A

    1. You have no idea <3 2. My initial response was going to be "wtf are habs?" Luckily, SC was able to answer that question for me. In his own words: <@SleepingCanuck> and they do suck. A sleeping triumvir woke up to tell us that habs suck. So the official TORN response is: @#$% yes, habs suck. 3. I'm sure that this answer might vary significantly depending on who you talk to. From an FA standpoint, I have a lot of respect for MK and how they've managed things politically. Well, we really don't know much about you guys. Seems like you're off to a good start, though. Also, hi zoom. UT - 45, OU - 35. Honestly, I'm so bogged down in chemistry work that I have no idea what the matchup looks like. I'll leave the predictions to someone who knows what they're talking about. I'm mostly in it for the game watching and beer drinking anyway. Well, the gov structure really IS the major change. The power structure within the alliance has never been quite like this. It's changed how government interacts with each other and how government interacts with members. Triumvirs run their respective departments, and members are given much more responsibility in helping us do day to day tasks. This allows us to remain close to membership and naturally get a lot of feedback from them. Beyond that, the new charter doesn't include many things that were included in the old charter. But fear not - we just put our nuclear policies, raiding policies, etc. into doctrines instead. So that's not really a major change. It's possible that I'm missing something here, so I'll post again if I remember something really significant.

-Frostbite - We don't actually know them that well but some of them sure do seem to post about us a lot. -Citadel - Citadel is definitely growing on us. -Superfriends - We really don't talk to them much. -CnG - Anything with MK must be full of win.

    TORN Q&A

I wasn't government during the war, but I can tell you that I believe those who were in government made the most informed decision they could at the time. I don't see the need to speculate on how things could have been different, because it doesn't change anything and would be a waste of all of our time. Honestly, the whole situation was a sticky one - there was a lot of membership versus government, and a lot of miscommunication in general. It was a difficult time, and obviously a lot has changed for TORN since then.
  21. Rach86

    TORN Q&A

Yes and no. Dear Leader is more of a figurehead. The triumvirs are in charge of day-to-day activities and we make all the alliance decisions, and he's been very good about letting us do our thing. Edit: I see you deleted the original post. I can delete my post as well, if you'd like, but it's been a common question so it's worth being answered.
