1. If only because I remember that the formation of this bloc occured some months after I founded my own nation, the Superfriends's dissolution makes me feel quite old. Farewell.
2. We look foward to working with NO in their formative stages.
3. I am glad to see our friendship formalized with a treaty! Congratulations to all.
4. As Nitro has noted, we utilized a similar program several years back that was successful in attracting new members. I am confident that under Nitro's management this program will have an excellent opportunity to succeed. Glad to see it this go live.
5. UnknownSmurf has stepped down from his post as Minister of Foreign Affairs. In light of his resignation, I will be assuming full-time duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs for Aurora Borealis. Below I list the current government of the alliance. I believe more than a few names will ring some bells among the veteran crowd. We are excited to return to active duty within the alliance. Come say hello and catch up with us on our forums or at #aborealis . The current government stands as: Ognyony Zmey The Evilest Eye The Triumvirate Nitroburn Nomdeplume BD428 The Ministers Sarkin - Internal Affairs Dan123123 - Foreign Affairs Jutopia - Finance
6. This statement is not endorsed by anyone within Aurora Borealis. Honestly, this is a baffling display of bravado that is not typical of Aurora Borealis. Let me reiterate for the public at large-- this is not indicative of official alliance policy. Not even close.
7.
@auctor - Yes I understand you think i am stupid for saying this because IRON is an allys ally but the notion of people not calling others out for doing stupid !@#$ just because they are a friend is stupid.
I am quite positive IRON's attack on LSF was a direct result of the fact LSF members impersonated IRON government on IRC in an attempt to instigate our ally, GLOF, to partake in some wider conflict. I really do not understand how you reckon IRON has done anything stupid here...
8. I'm glad to see this finally come to fruition.
9.
I had the some of the most fun I've ever had, fighting AB. Good luck to both of you.
Good times. Onward to war!
10. Happy birthday, VE. Glad to see you still kicking Sol. We've come a long way since the Purple Star Directorate.
11. With the retirement of the Evilest Eye and Nitroburn, I have assumed sole leadership over Aurora Borealis. I assure our allies that the last few weeks have merely served as a period of transition. I returned from my own retirement and initiated several sorely needed internal reforms. Shortly thereafter, Nitroburn and Evilest stepped down from active duty. They have more than earned their retirement. They have served Aurora Borealis with both passion and vigor for more than two years. They are among our founding members, but they are more than just footnotes in our history books. They put their faith in our community and formed long lasting friendships within the alliance. I express gratitude on behalf of the entire alliance. A pillar of their leadership was their unshakable belief in our continued survival and success, even when the odds were stacked against us. I hope to continue this tradition which was so apparently embodied by Nitroburn's and Evilest's leadership. I aim to serve with the same enthusiasm that Nitro and Evilest always exhibited. So long, old friends. And thank you for everything. It's been real guys. ---- On a more celebratory note: This past July 11, Aurora Borealis celebrated the second anniversary of her founding. To omit the controversial nature of our founding would be more than laxity. Such an omission would be willful ignorance our history. To dwell on these issues for too long, however, would be to agitate tensions long since deadened by the passage of time. We simply acknowledge that we have face our fair share of controversy and made our fair share of mistakes. We have offered many well-deserved apologies. But we have not remained idle or unchangeable with regard to our behavior. I hope our maturation is apparent to all who share historical ties -- friendly or otherwise -- with us. We are certainly no longer the breakaway group of seven disgruntled nations that founded this alliance more than two years ago. I am proud to see that we have grown above our roots and nurtured a genuinely unique community bound by camaraderie and loyalty. We have fought in our fair share of wars and global conflicts, and yet, ironically, time and again, it is the wars we avert that most impact our foreign policy and our relationship with our allies. These days, we have become far more recluse. We may appear content to observe the political maneuverings of this realm, but were are always mindful our allies' interests. But we affirm more than just political ties with our allies. They have continually offered us integrity, honesty, and aid -- even when it was not politically convenient or even deserved. Without our allies' support we would not exist. We are indebted. I can only hope we have lived up the spirit of our agreements that we have signed with our friends. You have our unwavering support. As we look toward the future, we aim to continue to grow and develop as an alliance. While we have historically emphasized our sovereignty and our independence, we affirm our interest in the global community. As we enter our third year, we hope to build upon the relationships we have formed -- both at home and abroad. We will continue to chart out our history and continue conduct our affairs by the principles we profess. And I am sure we still have plenty of room for growth left in us. Thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way. So, happy birthday Aurora Borealis. Here's to many more. /s/ Dan123123 ---- With my return has come some governmental changes. 12. Congratulations on gaining not only a fine protector, but also a steadfast friend. Good luck.
13.
Because NPO was launching offensive gangbangs, rather than facing defensive wars almost every 2-3 months. Somehow reps seem less appropriate when you're punching someones face in, but it's certainly warranted if you get jumped. You mistook my point, in so far as the white peace in Karma was meant to give them a chance to reconsider their friendships and find a new niche for themselves in the world. Not necc. with SF or CnG or FB or anyone, but something new that wouldn't just lead to the same sides. Now that they've proven incapable (or unwilling) to do so on multiple occasions, the intent we approach TOOL and others with by nature has to shift to eliminating them as military threats; not trying to be nice. That's what I was driving at, sorry if it wasn't clear. In this situation, it'd be punishment for piggy-backing on a preemptive war against an entire bloc. If it was as simple as honoring a treaty, it'd be a different conversation. TOOL didn't seem so keen on honoring treaties with our side when Karma rolled around. Something that's also been tried, and clearly considering this thread even exists, didn't work.
Fair enough. Thank you for the clarification.
14.
One of the major arguments within our side of Karma in favor of giving white peace was that it'd give those who got it a clean slate to start from. That failed. They all stayed allied to the same people, and they all come out of the wood work whenever a chance at vengeance is presented. Call me evil if you'd like, but I fully intend on hanging people from the gates if they continue. You guys have been warned well in advance.
If you want them to abandon their allies, issuing progressively harsher reparations seems like a counterproductive way to do it. If anything, that would only breed increased animosity between them and you. If anything, it would strengthen their resolve to stand by their own allies after a war, rebuild, and then actively begin targeting you when they are at full strength. They have only ever attacked your allies as a byproduct of supporting their friends and honoring their treaties. You would create an active enemy by punishing them indirectly for their friendships. Frankly, it would lead to a situation where they would continually attack you and turn them from a passive threat to an active threat. You pretty much want them to stop being friends with their friends... I just can't imagine how continually harsher reparations will accomplish that goal. Why not just force them to cancel all their treaties indefinitely? This way, they will never be a threat to your alliance ever again. I mean, if you truly believe punishing an alliance for honoring its treaties will make them stop honoring its treaties, you might as well take it to its logical extreme. This way, they would have no harsh reparation to whine about, and they would be utterly neutralized as a threat to GOD. EDIT: Or you could talk to them, get to know them, and try to create amiable relations. Perhaps they would be less keen on attacking GOD's allies if they liked you as opposed to hated you or even felt indifferent towards you?
15. I joined right around the first NPO declaration of war against FAN.
16. I read this announcement before reading my own forums and almost had a heart-attack. Anyways, congratulations on the 6 months. It's an impressive accomplishment.
17. Well, Aurora Borealis is still alive. And we are recruiting. Cheers.
18. Congratulations on the impressive nuke count.
19. And here I thought I was about to witness the revival of the original Hanseatic League. Regardless, good luck with this venture.
