  1. Remember when GOONS leadership was composed of banned members? The fact someone is banned does not preclude them from holding a leadership position in an alliance or bloc, and the fact of the matter is Walford led this one, banned or not.

Founder, chief administrator, and policy setter for the bloc. If that isn't the "leader", what is?

And I wasn't here for that. All this seems to me is another OOC witch hunt that attempts to put out a flimsy CB in order to get another war going to fill the Summer quota if Walford is what the CB is based on.

I also thought this bloc was made up of alliances and not the confederation of unaligneds that NONE was supposed to be. NEAT, AHEAD, and all these other ALLIANCES are the ones that are really under attack here, after all, and Walford doesn't have a say on their forums.

  2. Deth2munkies, you know how it works on Bob. The powers that be, and also those who suck up to them enough, can do whatever they want with little to no consequence. Andromeda sucks up to the powers enough, so of course they got nothing the fret about. Sad really, but no less true.

That's precisely what I was getting at.

  3. Terrible show by Ephie here... Though, Jerge points out that alliance terms were offered, and then withdrawn. Why this sudden change in heart?

At any rate, the pressure seems to be on Andromeda and especially Ephriam Grey to pull out of this one diplomatically unscathed .

If Argo, Andromeda, or GOD receive any amount of negative PR related to this war to the point that it actually matters, I'll be absolutely shocked.

  4. Well, you'd have Dark Mistress hitting on Doitzel, and he'd be interested in Tulak instead, creating a very unstable triumvirate, doubling as a horrific love triangle.

Then you've got TBB looking up there from his lowly spot as a MoD, leering at DM. He'll run off and declare war on someone just to ease his own sexual frustration. On top of that, LJ would try to "smooth things over" by yelling at the emperor of the alliance that TBB declared on.

Then, to top it off, one of the above people would end up perma-ZI'd and Syzy would accidentally send them aid, and get himself perma-ZI'd also, and poor Chalky would try to solve the whole mess by inviting everyone to dinner, but when they all showed up a huge fist fight would start, which of course would leave only DM and Doitzel standing, and with no one left to comfort them but themselves.

So in essence, this setup is a two-umvirate with no ministers.

I wish this was short enough to sig.

  5. The slide show.

For me the slide show ended with "condoning nuclear attacks on GOD". Meh...might not have loaded the entire thing...how many slides is it?

AHA, found it. So a GATO member had access and one member of (is the alliance Delta Force? I can't tell) some other alliance admits to spying.

Where's the rest of that thread? All you really have is 1 member of an entire ODP bloc admitting to doing something wrong with information gained through spying.

An addendum: I'm glad my mouse has the special magnifying glass button on the side of it, or else I couldn't read a darn thing.

  6. If you are invited to a secret IRC channel or forum as you a member of LoSS and on that channel or forum they are talking about attacking youy ally NPO you would not report it to NPO? Because you think at that point you are a spy? In my opinion if you did not report it you would be a traitor to LoSS.

Yes, I would be. This situation, however, is much different.

There were no battle plans, no imminent threats, etc.

All that was shown in the slideshow (which I can see as I'm on my desktop now) aren't in any way "illegal" by CN standards, but merely a smear job to make them look bad with no substance except for a botched tech raid, and I really don't want to have to bother with discussing the moral implications of fighting back against a tech raid in this thread right now.

  7. And I will say Boris is not a spy the same way I call BS every time someone pulls out that broke the spirit of the treaty crap.

Gathering secret information and passing it on to enemies of the alliance no matter what the circumstances is known as spying. It doesn't matter if they let you in or not.

  8. Usually the spy would be posing as someone who has no other allegiance but to the alliance he is spying on while he is in fact working for another group. Since Boris was still a member of FEAR and never claimed otherwise he did nothing wrong.

look at it this way Weiss if before the war a member of TPF came up to you and was like "Hey I like you guys and I will think about joining you but I need to see your forums before I leave TPF" you would say no. If you said yes and that member of TPF found anti NPO plans on your forum it would be his responsibility to report it.

Do I think Boris randomly stumbled across the LoFN? of course not I am sure he went there with the intent to check out the legitimacy of the organization.

Boris was actually quite clever in what he did and unless he told the LoFN that he was no longer a member of FEAR I do not see how anyone can say that he should not have released information in accordance to his treaties.

This is not spying in the same way that dropping a treaty immediately "because the spirit behind the treaty has been broken" is not dropping a treaty. It's the same thing, different perspectives, different semantics, and thusly, different results.

  9. Look, spying is subjective. It, like every other action, is OK when you have most of the world backing you up and is directed against a universally maligned entity, but not OK when you don't. I thought we settled this one already.

  10. So Walford rerolled and founded this alliance and therefore it is immediately at war after being associated with NONE and because a member retaliated against a tech raid?

    K.

I find it somewhat...unnecessary that this need to occur, I've never heard of these people and they are quite irrelevant to the political spectrum as a whole, but I guess Planet Bob needs to fulfill it's summer war quota, so here it goes.

  11. Alright, can someone sum it up for me as I cannot see the slideshow on this computer? As far as I can tell, something about Walford (a reroll? He's been banned a while now) and tech raiding and an alliance I've never heard of that is evidently somehow in the political sphere...I'm rather confused, can someone enlighten me?

  12. This was dealt with in private.

If at all possible, I'd appreciate a lock, moderators - Thank you. This thread is done.

You posted it in the one forum with no author's rights <_<

Meh, I could give my opinion on this, but no one would really care, and I've come to accept that. Therefore, all I really have to say is that I hope this can be worked out peacefully (eventually) because I don't want to see the parties involved getting destroyed permanently.

  13. Sounds like you joined a crappy alliance...or at least ran afoul of a bunch of moronic players...I'd ask you to reconsider and give it another shot with some different people, but you seem set.

    GL wherever you go.

  14. The political aspect of the game is run entirely by players.

Players form alliances that form blocs.

Those blocs dictate policy and one would not be wise to cross any of them unless backed up by a stronger bloc.

Basically, might means right in the cyberverse and you can e-lawyer or attempt to make these legal precedents all you want, but they don't mean a darn thing unless they are enforced by the powers-that-be.

  16. Didn't you guys get a VD from GW III....no wait...it was VE. LOL@pink, didn't you have to move to pink for jumping VE? I always get my Great wars mixed up so I'm not sure if that was 2 or 3.

Yes...when I joined LoSS we were on pink :)

We're back to blue and have since had the surrender terms removed though.
