Invicta's official stance on the Pro-Piracy Act of 2009
Invicta has long held tech raiding to be an immoral, reprehensible act that damages new players ability to get involved in our community. As an alliance that prides itself upon working to get new players involved and creating an environment in which they can safely grow their nation and get involved in a player community, Invicta finds policies such as this to be counter productive to these long term goals.
Invicta further believes that tech raiding destabilizes the planet by encouraging unnecessary conflict. Preservation of peace is an important goal to Invictans, young and old, and acts such as the Pro-Piracy Act only serve to cause strife, dissension, and the potential for larger scale conflict to erupt unnecessarily. These risks and potential risks lead Invicta to the belief that policies such as the Pro-Piracy Act are counterproductive to our goal of the preservation of peace as well as contribute to global instability.
This stance is a vital part of Invictan culture, and as a result, we can not support GOONS in this endeavor for the reasons previously outlined. We condemn this Act as reprehensible, and urge GOONS and its leadership to reconsider this policy. We understand that as a sovereign alliance GOONS will pursue the path they believe is best for their alliance as a whole and Invicta respects this. We are, however, unable to support this particular policy and hope that GOONS will come to change its stance.
