  1. What made the alliance Vox Populi a success, in certain terms at least, was that it was comprised of individuals who could otherwise never find a home in an alliance. They were chased around and hunted, and the alliance that dared accept them was sure to face the wrath of the dominant power.

I don't know what a "multi-polar" world would ideally be, but there's hardly an absolute hegemony in existence now. This current war is not evenly matched, but it's not really a beatdown, either.

Compared to the past and the environment that created Vox Populi, things have improved. Not perfect or anything close to it, but improvement nonetheless. But there isn't really anyone to pick up the mantle of fighting for a completely non-hegemonic world. I don't know if that's even attainable.

Is this the right time for a new Vox? My feeling is no.

  2. I don't hold out for a great hope that a group of large alliances is going to rush in to save Pacifica or Polaris from being attacked.

The fact is, as in every war, the alliances have generally already decided by this point which side they intend to support, and the members support their alliance. The true upheaval occurs after the war, when the memberships and ties realign based on their standards. Consider how many members of NPO, who were previously the source of strength for the alliance, left elsewhere because they did not support the stated causes of war in the Continuum Era. Or how some big alliances started to detach themselves from the Initiative or the Continuum.

War is predictable, peace is not.

To be honest, where does that CB start and end as "we don't like you" can be OOC and IC.

OOC: Hell this was the same justification that Hitler used to kill the Jews and take over the world, because, "he was creating the perfect world." Anyone who believed this will end any better is sadly mistaken.

First They came... - Pastor Martin Niemoller

First they came for the communists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists ,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

and there was no one left to speak out for me.[/color][/b]

OOC: a Nazi comparison, really? Thread has been Godwin'd, thanks for posting everybody!

  3. I should have no particular stake in the outcome of this, being directly connected to neither side. However...

This is not the world I want to live in, where wars are declared based not on what someone did or is planning to do, but merely what they might be.

Have you all lost your minds?

I can assure you that there will be a new Judgement Day for the perpetrators of this sin. Maybe not in this time, or this war, but your time will come.

Ohh the "do something about it" provocation! You are so clever and witty, what ever shall I do now that this classic grade school retort has rendered me totally unable to respond!

Stop with the dumb sarcasm, it's not funny. It's not that difficult to declare war on Rebel Virginia. It's better than telling us what "most people" would have done, when everyone knows that Rebel Virginia is not, and never has been, "most people".

The real issue that you're attempting to avoid admitting your alliance's true role, when what actually happened was you copied the brilliant technique of Ephriam Grey, and much in the same way, it blew up in your face.

I don't think I can trust your credibility. What black ops were you involved in? How can I know that you actually know what you are talking about?

I don't know if I should laugh at or cry about this post. Maybe CN is too much of an emotional stress for your life at the moment...

How long have you been playing CN? This is classic King Penchuk. :smug:

  7. I bought all the wonders in the game and hoarded a lot of money...

I guess that's not the intent of this thread though...

Well, other than that, I've ranted a few times and made people mad at me. I declared myself viceroy of FAN once. I failed a few times at becoming NpO government.

Also I created an account on the Blackstone Collusion just to create lulz (it worked :awesome: ), and learned that there's someone in CN who actually wants me ZI'd, so apparently I've done something, at some point. Haters gonna hate.

  8. #77 WOLFPACK- This is an alliance that could easily end up getting rolled(and in fact, they did back in 2008) but somehow managed to survive all this time and actually they have a pretty good average NS. They don't post often, which is probably a good thing, considering it's mostly wolf roleplay.

I noticed that Old Guard also still exists, and \m/ is a lot smaller than I thought.

I'm also part of a small alliance. I'm actually surprised at how many people know about us, to the point where our IRC channel (#sakura) has almost twice as many people as we have members.
