1.
This is quite an interesting development... not sure if I've seen anything like it. Not really a NATO fan, and indifferent to MHA, though I was allied to both of you back in the day. But if the evidence, as presented, is accurate (and I don't see how it can't be), then clearly MHA decided that their treaty with NATO was not worth as much as their treaty with Sparta. Shoulda stayed aqua, NATO.
Haha, you remember the GOD/NATO ODP? Those were different times. And yes, ours was a ToA (though honestly actually an ODP) with MHA, and MHA held a MDP with Sparta...so I would expect it, especially as their treaty with Sparta is chaining and has no opt-out for Sparta being the aggressor. But we would not have signed such a treaty with TFD if we were not willing to fulfill it, and I expect the same between MHA and Sparta.
 2. I am truly sad to see this happen. Most alliances haven't even been around for four years, let alone held a consecutive treatied relationship for that long. I hope someday we can regain the distance that has come between us because as I have always loved MHA and will continue to do so despite this cancellation. And so goes our last tie to Aqua.
 3.
This is cute. In exchange for your award, Sparta bequeaths upon NV the coveted "Quick! Hide in peace mode so Alex doesn't ZI you in a week!" medal. By the way, get more tech. You guys need it.
Sparta...we had a hard time finding targets for all that you put in PM. But that's okay, we're not mad, bro. Peace mode is a valid war strat, blah blah blah tactics blah.
 4.
I just learned you could personalize Battle Taunts. We're still adjusting to the new medium. On behalf of Sparta, I apologize. We shall endeavor to return any future taunts. Also,
Apology accepted. Also, The years have not been kind to any of those guys, huh.
 5.
I've already awarded a medal to the entirety of GOONS: The Black Heart, awarded for being hated enough to acquire more than 10 counters in an alliance conflict. But enough about that, another joke: How many NpO emperors does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Oh, oh!! So does NATO get one too from last war? Also, first war was a disappointment, Sparta. I kept sending my opponent nice comments in the battle taunts, and kept waiting for him to hit me back to see what he would say! He never did except for last day...when he never said anything at all. Truly, he was Chelone.
 6. Someone in MCXA is gonna have one hell of a homework assignment.
 7. Congrats and all...but why not just change BFF to be a DMT? I guess there's no real difference.
 8. I do appreciate the war, very much. When else do I get to enjoy discounts on my bills?
 9. I would say it is well within VE's rights to assist MN, even if MN does not need it. However, I do think that not posting a DoW is extremely underhanded. This is not the first instance I have heard of this - FOK attacking DRAGON to help PC, or Umbrella attacking Legion & TPF - and for all I know my "side" of this war could be doing the same thing. But I still think it's rather low to send assistance without actually DoWing to avoid the treaty implications. Granted, in this case, there are not any real treaty implications. But whoever thinks about all the poor souls making war webs and wiki updates, hmm?
 10.
We declared war on NATO when you attacked FoB who was a CnG member. And it was a ghost DoW to get DICE on yall.
Yes, who is also Aqua. We knew it was a ghost DoW for the oA, but were not sure if you couldn't spare the slots or if you were being courteous. Again, don't blame you at all for it, and such old codes don't have a place in this world anymore. Had we been in your situation or a similar one, it would have been hard not to do the same. But considering DICE's size and the number of wars they were able to do (and they did do well for their size, no offense intended), I'm not entirely sure it was needed, either.
 11.
I think Shamshir is still hoping for a MHA-NATO merge. Your post gives me hope, if our bond was really as strong as I remember then we should be able to weather this without degrading into insults and petty squabbles.
Well, here is to the future, then. It is not our style to insult on the OWF, but you have attacked to us what Gre was once to you (our dual-member treaty partners), and so the bad feelings have arisen once again. I really do not wish for you to come away from this thread with the feeling that we have become heathens on Blue. To clarify - we did attempt a lot of relations on Aqua after Karma. It never went anywhere, outside of GUN, who folded into us, and ADI, when they were still RoK's friend. There was a time on Aqua when a gentlemen's agreement existed to never have Aqua-on-Aqua wars. We held to that even as we found ourselves on the other "side" than most Aqua alliances, which was perhaps naively and too old-fashioned of us. We held on even through Karma, TPF and BiPolar, becoming a real "favorite" of the war planners...until Athens DoWed on us. This is certainly not something we hold against Athens - certainly, it was well within their rights - though it was only (perhaps courteously, or perhaps because it was an oA chain) a ghost DoW as they hit us with only a few wars. But it was the last shattering of our love of Aqua, and for what it used to be, and with so many friends on Blue (including our blood brothers in TFD), it was really a no-brainer for us to make the move. There are many of us within NATO (mostly old fogies like myself, King Tom, etc) who still cling on to the Aqua sphere, enough that we have designated a Senator to support in Aqua elections. And this is not simply a convenience of trade - in our hearts, NATO will always be an Aqua alliance in spirit. We are just now a shade slightly darker on Blue.
 12.
Could it be repaired? All i saw on the OWF was guys like Wentworth while he was still in NATO leadership spewing insults at us. I've been around since 2008 and I've rarely seen any NATO guys posting on our forums. I don't know about your forums, it might be the same situation over there. From a political point of view, the set of allies you choose tend to differ from ours. In the event of war, either of us would always be in trouble over allies attacking allies. In such a situation, do you actually see relations being able to be maintained at a decent level?
Well, I'm sorry if Wentworth insulted you guys. There were a lot of us who felt betrayed in Karma, and it made for bad feelings all around. Wentworth has been a very long time gone from NATO (and gone now from Bob as well). We have IYIyTh on our forums, and some of us have a love-hate relationship with him given his history within NATO, but I must say it's not been the same kind of relationship with you since Shamshir left. And that I do regret that we have spread so far, because I have always liked a lot of you personally, even if as an alliance I can't always agree with what you do.
 13.
Hello Duncan, it's been a while. None of what you commented on really does come into play here. I mean, we're not ignoring any treaty right now, are we? No, we're honoring one. And no, I'm not going to sit here and praise HOLY ADMIN that we are on a righteous mission, that this move is the most honorable move ever, that our participation in this war is something I'm going to blindly defend like GATO blindly posts. But at the end of the day, an ally asked for our help and we gave it. That's why we're here, no other reason, and I think surely anyone with a treaty can appreciate at least the fact that when MHA was called to defend, the MHA defended.
Duncan never said you were ignoring a treaty. Duncan was commenting on the fact that you would go into to defend an ally who attacked aggressively and with no treaty link, considering your history of ignoring treaties for allies who are just defending. Had MHA felt this way before Karma they could have cancelled the treaty instead of hanging NATO out to dry by surprise. And we did attempt relations after Karma but the reasons for that failure I can only guess.
 14. Title made me laugh, but I was disappointed to find nothing but tears and whinging on the inside. Stop being so pubbie.
 15. We may not be treatied with NSO anymore, but I cannot deny my love for you! This is sooooo hawt.
