  1. Ceres and Billy are right, whatever blame or fault you put on SPA for any reason, they don't deserve any of it. I wish you both the best in growing your new alliance.
  2. We vote on everything, and can override any executive decision with a vote. So that's pretty Socialist.(Well, marxist.) Anyway, I appreciate the feather. I've always liked doves. Very impressive birds.
  3. And I'm sorry for that. If I knew we would be percieved as traitors by some people I would have waited a day. Honestly, it never crossed my mind. I wasn't involved in the fighting, and it would have been perfectly ok if I got demolished. The war, in terms of me fighting and losing or winning, had nothing to do with it. It's truly only the vote for me.
  4. The point was that we didn't vote. I don't know how the vote would have turned out.
  5. Uh, no. I made a post( as a member of Guinness) pointing out that we were not a functioning democracy. Some people agreed with me, and left because of that. Others had left before me for their own reasons. Others left after for other reasons. I had talked to no one before last night. I had no plan on who to join when I resigned. I was willing to be unalligned and get whacked if need be.
  6. More than half of the alliances active members left and most are with SPA now, I'm not sure how you can phrase that as "abandonment." If 2 or 3 did, sure, but there's more active Guiness members in SPA than in Guinness itself. The CN stats back it up. Clearly in game activity isn't an end all be all, but there are 9 ex guinness nations active in SPA, and 3 active current Guinness members. That seems like a migration to me. And I really don't know how many more times we can show logs that prove peace had been reached.
  7. My options were A. Join SPA or B. Find another alliance I had no experience with. I picked the ones I had friends in. That's really the only factor. Well, and difficulty in finding a good alliance that votes on most things.
  8. Yeah, I think this whole situation shows clear communication wasn't a strength. But that's ok, and it's nobodies fault. A lot of members were new. This will help all of us as a learning experience in whatever alliance we all end up in down the road.
  9. I'm not sure how much more clear we can make it. We left because we didn't vote on the peace, not because we all didn't want it. If I still had acsess to the forums I could pull multiple posts from resigning members which explicitely stated that it was that lack of a vote.
  10. All of us were told peace was 100% done. That would be why we argued about the lack of a vote. It had been done without asking the alliance.
  11. I understand how this looks, and it's something I personally considered very heavily before resigning from Guiness. So, I'll be completely open and honest with all my reasons. Note, this goes for me. I can't speak for the other members who resigned. This is in no way the opinion of SPA, and doesn't reflect anyones thoughts but my own. I didn't resign from Guiness because of the war. I was an enthusiastic supporter of the war. I had been arguing for weeks that we needed to respond earlier, and was glad when we did. My nation was not involved in the war, but I did support it. The biggest reason I resigned was the peace talks that followed. I was in OSA for a long time, and we were democratic. We voted on everything major, treaties, war, peace. Our gov. did not tell anyone we would go for peace until the membership told the gov. that we wanted peace to be negotiated, and we voted on that peace treaty. If the alliance said no, even if all gov. supported it, we would not have been at peace. I was in Guinness under the impression that the same thing was in place. But, a high ranking official on the forums came and posted logs of peace discussions, and then told us to peace out if we were offered it. Peace had been made without asking the alliances opinion in any even semi-formal way. I'd like to say that I would have supported that peace. In my opinion we had shown that we would stand up for ourselves. Enough had been done, and I thought it had been handled reasonably well for our first war. I knew the conflict could escalate if it dragged on. That wasn't my issue. The issue was that we never had a serious discussion about peace. We never voted. When I made a long post asking if Guinness was a democratic alliance, I got responses ranging from "no, we're semi-democratic" to "the constutution doesn't say we have to vote on that" and "it's clear the alliance wanted peace." The issue? Half our members hadn't even been on the forums that day, many others had voiced the same wish for further discussion on peace I had, and again, we never voted. No majority had expressed it's opinion. Many didn't even know we were talking about peace at all. So, I made that post. I got the above responses. I stated very clearly that if Guiness was not going to be a Democratic alliance I was going to resign, and that it was fine if that wasn't the direction the alliance wanted to go. I would leave with no hard feelings. I was told to wait, let things settle down. But no one could give me a committment that Guiness would be Democratic going forward. So I did what I said I would. My post, and resignation was made irregardless of the decisions to resign that the members before me had made. Those decisions are part what caused me to end up in SPA. I realize how it looks from the outside. But all those members who left? I considered them some of the most rational members of the alliance, some of the most active, the ones who helped me when I needed nation advice, the ones who wanted Democracy in the same way that I did. They were my friends. So, when I decided to leave Guinness, I had a few options. I could try to find a brand new alliance, someone I knew nothing about, or I could follow my friends. SPA will also vote on every single major issue, which is the single MOST important thing to me, more than anything else. Yesterday morning, before I went to work, I was trying to find members for a Guiness trade circle I was in. I was 100% dedicated to seeing Guiness grow. But by that night, I realized that the differences in what I wanted in an alliance and how it's managed and what the reality of that day had been were two completely seperate things. When I resigned, I said I wanted to keep in touch with everyone left( I believe it's 11 out of the 24 at this point, and I fully expect those 11 to continue to improve the alliance on their own path.) I will still try too. So, that's my story. That's why I left. Who SPA chooses to ally with is not up to me, it's up to a vote. If that vote goes one way, I'll support the will of the alliance. I'm sorry if my "reputation" is sullied because of this, but that principle is more important to me. Anyway, that's all I've got.
  12. *Sigh* I told you not to drink so much before you post important things.
  13. I was out of the game a while, so I'm not familiar with any background info on Lavender Town. I don't know if they do this often, I don't really care. What I do know is that they raided us a first time for an incredibly stupid reason. We let it go. They raided us a second time. I can't even remember the excuse given. We let it go. But then they raided us a third time, obstinately by accident. I'm not too sure how you don't look at an AA the entire time you're attacking someone. To me, at best, this says they simply don't care who they raid and at worst(and most likely) that they purposefully attacked us yet again. So, we responded. After three unprovoked acts of aggression I think Guiness has every right to defend ourselves. Are we supposed to let our members be raided with impunity when we promised them protection? Are we supposed to let our reputation become one of an alliance who will not act when attacked? I, and the alliance, in consultation with our allies, who we greatly appreciate, decided that all of those anwers had to be no. Sometimes, bullies need to be hit back to show that they can not victimize others at will. Today, we hit back. We show Lavender Town that they will not violate our sovereignty, and I hope future alliances in our position respond the same way we are now.
