  1. Well it's hardly a surprise to me but thanks for collating the information.

It seems unlikely I will come into conflict with ODN, given my own peaceful nature, and their trajectory of rotting into nonexistence quickly, but the facts here are noted and should they be foolish and active enough to start something they will be taken into account before any quarter is offered.

Also good to see you posting!

    LOL

    Is this !@#$%^& for real?

  2. Os is of course correct when he states that he was "not in charge" of ODN when ODN supported $625,000,000 in reps from NATO to GOONS. But like any good liar, with years of practice in nimble-tonguery, he neglected to say he was in charge of the military that enforced those reps. And he was so not bothered by leading ODN's military in those efforts that he accepted re-appointment to the position mid-war.

This is how you can tell Schattenman has never been in an alliance of any real size in a position of any real importance. No military man gives two !@#$% about the FA situation at the time - they just want to $%&@ !@#$ up.

OsRavan truly is a foul fiend, a central figure in the power politics that defined the sadistic destruction of thousands of nations across years. He is a phony with a sickly-sweet grin, a pretender who speaks in public of "what is best" for the world, and his so-called principles who in fact gleefully supported and created the conditions for the opposite of every stance he claims to hold.

In fact, I had so much fun apologizing for spying on ODN and threatening your protectorates and applicants that I did it over and over again.

The problem was the $200,000,000 in reps that you demanded we pay to GOONS in return for peace, because far from being opposed to anything, you were eager to enforce GOONS's demands upon us just as you were throughout your career and will be again in the future, given the chance.

tl;dr "I was a !@#$, and they treated me like one!" Dastardly deeds indeed, Os.
  3. I'm a second generation tech producer in CyberNations. My pappy came here as a boy with his parents, and they settled the fertile tech valleys of the New Pacific Order. We've been working those tech fields for three generations - good, hard, honest labor.

When I first heard of the illegal tech producer problem I was outraged. Who do these nations think they are, coming to our CyberNations and taking away jobs from hardworking, honest Rulers? I was elated when Admin put up fences along the borders to stop illegal tech producers from streaming in - and even more so when Admin and the Mods rounded up those already here and sent them packing.

This is yet another victory for hardworking Rulers such as myself. No longer can illegals undercut our prices and drive the tech market into a downward spiral. I commend Admin and Game Moderation for taking this bold stance to once again restore the CyberNations dream to thousands of our honest tech producers.

  4. Please enlighten us as to how the Polarsphere or MI6 are statistical threats to Oculus then, I'll wait.

Yeah, that's not the funny part. I don't even know how the $%&@ you drew that one out of the op.

"...are throwing peripheral allies against an isolated piece of the treaty sphere in order to politically weaken ties between desirable allies and undesirable members of the coalition, or in order to keep certain peripheral alliances from growing enough to be a statistical threat."

    Is the funny part.

Actual, the whole damn thing is hilarious, but that part in particular got me going.

  5. Hey there,

I took over moderating the CN Subreddit, r/Cybernations. If you guys would like to bring a member of the CN Mod Team over there, shoot me a PM and I'll set it up.

There have been a few posts over there that would have resulted in or directly constituted violations of the Game Rules or Terms of Service, and I have cracked down on those best I can. The latest was a dude who was trying to pay people IRL $$ to "destroy his roommate's nation." That was a fun one.

But yeah, thought I would mention it so that y'all know the goal of that subreddit is to be a compliment to the CN Forums, not a "rules free" replacement.

  6. Seeing as the policy of not banning people on that basis was what outraged the community just about a year ago with Rotavele, I don't see that there really could be a right side on this issue.

Ninja Edit: If you want to go into the "multi, not multi" debate, there are two main points I'd make:

    • If you're cheating with only two nations, you're not gaining enough to justify the risk and the headache.
    • If you're cheating on a large scale, you're going to be caught, so you're not gaining enough to justify the risk and the headache.
I don't think anyone can dispute that. So, now that it's clear that anyone who does legitimately cheat would be an idiot, why are we clamping down on small scale "cheaters" like they are the Hitler reincarnate? I don't think there is a clear indicator - aside from consistently and always logging in one after the other - that would ever be a real proof that the nations were controlled by one user in a world where IP checks aren't a thing. As far as similar builds or similar actions, you have to assume that this is one old player introducing a new player, who is likely going to share their knowledge and advice with the other. So it seems that apart from the log in times, an educated guess is all that the mods really have left. Are they making a guess that this person is a cheater based on a bunch of circumstantial evidence, or are they assuming they are cheating because there are two nations and they are an idiot? Apparently we'll never know, and it doesn't really matter for those of us who don't take advantage of the new multi rules, but it is a fun thought experiment.
  7. Politics is dead, and our current hegemony will likely just roll GPA or the Polarsphere again in the winter, since nobody wants to take risks, they want to remain on the winning side.

I don't plan on either one of those, but "rolling Mogar" does come up from time to time.

Not the whole AA. Just you. :P

  8. Tywin, you have a lot of long sentences. Nothing wrong with that, but generally it can help to break things apart to highlight key points. Take this last paragraph for example:

Beyond the ranks of the Nation's Finest, mingling with the sounds of the sea and the shouts of sergeants, his precious people awaited him, joyous to see their King returning in health and victory from the latest negotiations with the foreigners. At the end of the vast lines of soldiers, their commander saluted the King and offered him and his knights their horses which they would ride directly to Iolani Palace. As the King and his knights rode he thought about the challenges the Kingdom was facing abroad.

With a few sentence structure tweaks:

Beyond the ranks of the Nation's Finest, mingling with the sounds of the sea and the shouts of sergeants, his precious people awaited him. They were joyous to see their King returning in health and victory from the latest negotiations with the foreigners. At the end of the vast lines of soldiers, their commander saluted the King and offered him and his knights their horses. They would ride directly to Iolani Palace. As the King and his knights rode, he thought about the challenges the Kingdom was facing abroad.

So yeah, there's one tip for you. You might also want to look into not using so many descriptor words. It's a little too flowery at times.

When I write, my first draft is usually terrible. I find that it gets better and better as I go through the draft and make small changes one or two at a time, rereading the paragraphs as I make changes. Once I have changed a dozen or so bits, I go back through and reread the whole thing, and try and evaluate if there is any area that I want to improve. Sometimes, it helps to let things set for an hour or two and revisit them.

So there's two tips. Practice makes perfect, keep it up!

  9. There are those of us that have made suggestions that effectively work towards drawing in and retaining new members to our community. If people want to see them implemented, they need to contribute to those suggestions, or come up with their own alternatives.

It's not that hard. You want to help new players? Then do something that helps new players. Older players put forth the effort to suggest and nurture ideas that benefit them.
