  1. Open World RP Rules and Guidelines First and foremost--ALL REGULAR FORUM RULES APPLY in addition to the RP guidelines. Read them. Learn them. Live them. These guidelines apply ONLY in Open World RP and its subforums. PREFACE Open World RP is the epicentre of the game's broader political stage. This is where alliances forge and break treaties, declare and march to war, argue philosophy and pedantry. All posting pertaining to the alliance-based political structure of the game is designated in this area. This forum is not for trade requests or tech deals! Please refer to this forum for those activities. Foreign aid requests are not for this forum; they go here. DEFINITIONS Roleplay - Roleplay is acting, speaking, or playing in any manner that doesn't reflect you the player. Roleplay is make believe. It's fiction at its finest. It's not real. Therefore, anything you roleplay does not happen in real life. It has no effect on the game mechanics at all, it is simply used to amplify the experience of you, the player on this site. In Character (IC) - In Character means that the player is speaking as the leader of their nation or some other citizen of the fictional Cyber Nations world. Anything said is spoken from the viewpoint of that character and has no bearing on the player's emotions or feelings in real life. Forums labeled as In-Character within the Open World RP Forum must adhere to this posting style. References to game mechanics, forums, and IRC are permitted but references to "real life" are not. A degree of OOC commentary is permissible so long as it does not make up the majority of your post, and only given that it is labeled with an "OOC:" designation. Out of Character (OOC) - Out of Character means the player is speaking as themselves, a human sitting at a computer, playing a game. As this posting style is "beyond the game" it is expected that players will treat it as such and not bring personal feuds or broader conflicts into OOC forums. References prohibited in IC forums are permissible here within the limits of the forum rules. THE FORUMS Open World RP - This is an OOC subforum. In fact, it is the OOC forum for discussion of global politics and the game itself as it pertains thereof. Statistical compilations, OOC commentary and reflections, and anything else OOC should go in this forum. Threads that are not OOC will be promptly moved by moderators to the appropriate area. Threads not directly relating to Cyber Nations should be directed to The Water Cooler. Announcements and reminders from the moderation staff will be made in this forum. Alliance Announcements - This is an IC subforum. Alliance representatives may come here to post -- you guessed it -- announcements, updates, reports, newsletters, and the like. Whether it's a treaty, declaration of war, or just a restatement of policy, if your alliance has something official to say this is the place to say it. (Remember that alliance recruitment topics still go here). World Affairs - This is an IC subforum. The hub of happenings in Cyber Nations, members of independent nations and alliances alike gather here for juicy gossip and drama alike. Discussions of trends and happenings on the political scene, of philosophy, of policy, and of anything else relating to game-driven politics that is IC goes in here. SUBJECT CONTENT The depiction of brutally inhumane acts, ethnic cleansing, and sexually explicit engagements or material, in image or text form, is strictly prohibited. Please remember in accordance with the forum rules that backseat moderating and mention/discussion of moderation issues in these forums is prohibited. Phrases such as "in before lock" and the like is prohibited. The unauthorised publishing of alliance nation guides is prohibited. The posting of any person's real life or personal information is strictly prohibited. All content is subject to moderator action/removal as is your account in accordance with the above and the forum rules. If you are unsure of the legality of something you wish to post, contact a moderator. HELPFUL LINKS The Forum Rules. Again. 2. We get the point. Others are advised not to attempt making the same one. Locked.
  3. Moderators proper and back-seat alike should note that I have given Tygaland clearance to post this in Alliance Politics as it pertains to the governing philosophy of his alliance. He wishes it to remain in-character and so it should remain. Enjoy.
  4. I would advise this little group to be a bit more mindful of the forum rules when creating their imagery, lest they find their numbers rapidly thinning.
  5. Improvised gingerbread houses, for all we know, and the Germany/Russia bit was not directed solely at you.
  6. You are making assumptions there. Unless Emperor Mudd is RPing their deportation to death camps or somesuch where they are exterminated or die due to poor treatment it is up to him to decide what becomes of taken prisoners. Let us remember that in-character Germany and Russia do not exist as states, and Tahoe is neither, nor obligated to follow their model.
  7. This is how I see it. If they have given up their citizenship with your nation or former nation they are no longer "yours" to roleplay with. Unless you have gotten permission from the respective nations where they are located that you may use them for your own RP they are not your citizens to control. In fact this almost looks like a deliberate attempt to use their ethnicity as a shield. It does not seem proper to take citizens of other nations, regardless of whether they were once your citizens or not, and without their leader's permission call them to arms -- especially in anyone's name but your own. Now, I am assuming that Sumeragi was not given permission by those three nations as at least one of them was surprised to be invaded in retaliation and there has been no mention of their consent being sought. On this matter I will defer to the leaders of Franzharia, Nordland, and Rebel Army to decide whether they wish to permit this usage of their citizenry or would prefer to refuse acknowledgment of the legitimacy of the action. Regarding the actions of Emperor Mudd and the accusations of ethnic cleansing, I have seen no RP of this nature. The people being targeted are being targeted for arming themselves in a stated opposition to another entity. RPing them under the name and banner of a leader that has been chased and targeted for destruction by other RPers in the past only further strengthens the reason for targeting these people. If each and every one of them is turning into a man-at-arms then they are combatants. If destroying them for their allegiance to a recognised war criminal or deposed leader constitutes ethnic cleansing then the same could be applied to almost any war pursued against a single nation. In this matter we must also take under consideration the intent. From what I have observed it is not Emperor Mudd's or anyone's goal to wipe out an entire ethnic group. They are not rounding up people in Sumeragi's former nation and all other nations and putting them to death. They are attacking what is apparently an armed militia roused in non-native countries. Was it ethnic cleansing when Germany fought Free French forces in World War II? You would have a difficult time arguing that. As such, if the community decides to permit the RP uprising of Sumeragi's former citizens I would not consider military retaliation to be ethnic cleansing. So long as Emperor Mudd is not clearly RPing an attempt to wipe out an ethnic group and is instead taking offensive action against a military threat and/or an international outlaw then it is a permissible action. If anything does not make sense or needs clarifying, do let me know.
  8. It is my understanding that Sunmeragi roleplayed a scenario where her citizens in other countries took up arms in responce to an armed overthrow of her nation. Her enemies then invaded the nations where these citizens -- who had apparently renounced their citizenship and integrated into other nations -- and engaged these men-at-arms. Sunmeragi believes this to violate the ethnic cleansing rule. Am I correct, or totally off-base here?
  9. There is no time for fatigue and hunger! Do you want admin to whip us again?!
  10. Not the last. I still don't have one, at least. Also this is all true.
  11. This is a reminder that the Open World Forum is NOT the proper area to advertise technology sales/purchases. Please post threads pertaining to the sale of technology, donations, etc. in the BLACK MARKET FORUM. Threads posted in the Open World Forum will be LOCKED on sight. Thank you. The Cyber Nations Moderation Staff
  12. There is no need to troll in this thread. This is not the politics section of the forum.
  13. The rule is there for a reason and have been covered by the users above. You log in to school or other public networks at your own risk -- the reason we do not recommend it is the possibility that others may be logging in from that network as well. If you interact with them, you're in trouble. If you are cheating, we can tell. It's that simple. Colloportus!
  14. Signature reminder With the return of image tags I would like to remind you all of the current rules for signatures on these boards. As stated here: If you are unsure of the size of the image you wish to put in your signature simply right-click (ctrl-click on Mac OS) and select "properties", which should give you the dimensions. Please remember: only one signature image no more than 450 pixels in length and 150 pixels in height.
  15. Moved to the correct forum.
  16. It is generally disallowed because most of our moderators cannot speak a dozen or more languages (I dare say none of us can, actually). To that end conversation held in non-English languages is generally prohibited, though an odd line, such as a proverb or somesuch, is usually allowed.
  17. Your IP is unique to your network or, if you don't have a network, your computer.. If you have the same internet service provider (ISP) as someone else you will not have the same IP address as any of them. You might have a somewhat similar one, but not the same. You are fine as long as you are logging in from home or grandmother's house, assuming no one else in either of those residences plays CyberNations. In the case of your school it's a bit more likely that someone else plays the game. It's still quite unlikely, unless you show it to all your peers, as the game has only 30,000 or so users across the entire world, but it is possible. I'd advise not logging in from school (especially because it greatly increases the chance of your account here or in-game being hijacked, a problem we often have).
  18. Correct, and anyone who edits their post/signature with a working image will cause that image to be removed. To answer the initial question: no, the masks will not be continued on these forums. That is what the "Alliance Name" field is there for. It makes the old masks purely cosmetic and functionally obsolete.
  19. This is correct. I would not advise you to try it.
  20. Go to "My Controls" on the bar at the top of the forum layout. On the left-hand side, select "Edit Profile Information". In the second box, you'll see a field called "Custom Member Title". That is what you are looking for. It only appears if you have a certain number of posts, but you fulfill that requirement.
