  1. 1. Declare war on 3 NPO nations 2. Rake in the profits 3. rinse and repeat :D
  2. That's cheap, I'd charge him 999,999,999,999.95 :P (That's bitcoins, not USD) :P *Resumes reading The art of extortion by Elend lol
  3. *Threatens Jerdge* :p anyway what Cuba did defies all logic here. sanctioning a maroon guy on pink for aiding a nation on blue makes little to no sense. ofcourse this is Cuba we're talking about here, using sanctions as a form of chest beating and all. attacking violators of the NAP makes much more sense actually but that's just me.
  4. Where's Doombird Doomcave when you need em? :p o/ admin, great job man :)
  5. There's also the scenario of community networks, or "Community wide WAN networks" in small towns where the nations involved may not realize they're on the same town router and IP address/Ethernet hub switch. what happens should they be assigned to trade with eachother or war eachother or aid eachother? also with mobile devices, it's near impossible to police based on IP addresses, it's possible to run one account from a laptop, a couple from tablet computers on different carriers and not to mention smart phones, all them have their own IP addresses. when CN started, people were pretty much limited to laptop and desktop computers on the same ISP, Moderation would have to adapt to changes in technology. Having been in an alliance that was rolled on account of multis ghosting the AA. I'm skittish on outright allowing them without limits. but I do feel that members of the same family should be allowed to play from home. best I can come up with is requiring multis to be accessed on the same network, that way they can be easily tracked and violations could be flagged by the game software. mobile and smart phone IP's should have limitations on the amount of logins one can do and registering new accounts via mobile should be disabled, is that possible admin? True stopping nation creation from mobile devices would pose an inconvenience. although given that illegal multying is as easy as buying a few throw away cell phones (Them things, even the android ones, are relatively cheap) they also have their own IP's it makes abuse of the system far too easy. if we could get more specific and bar nations being created on devices running the android operating system, that would help. iOS isn't an issue as iphones and ipads are very expensive, it's doubtful people would buy $300.00 iphones to abuse an online MMO. but 20 dollar android tracfones are a different animal. it isn't that much of a technological stretch given that information about the platform OS can be obtained from cookies. if the software detects the android operating system, it would allow limited logins (Like for nation maintanenance, collections and such), and turn off the ability to make new nations.
  6. well to be fair to Triyun, NASA did build a craft using scramjet engines that reached 13,000 mph before it crashed in the pacific ocean and we do have a hypersonic cruise missile being developed that uses a pulse jet engine. people have patented engines of that type, but idk if any have actually been built and successfully operated. as for continuous wave radar, it's limited by the amount of power you're putting in, we do have 1,000 watt and 2,000 watt microwave ovens, which aren't that physically large, all radar is microwave band, it uses a device called a magnetron to transmit and receive the signal, which is basically a vacuum tube. albeit the newer magnetrons are silicon chips. basically things that used to be done with vacuum tubes (Vacuum tubes are the reason them radar sets are so large) is being miniaturized and done with gold, plastic and silicon. another share of the size is due to the computers, well replace that with a raspberry pi which is a miniaturized desktop computer or go further and use a system on a chip with a miniature solid state drive for the processing power and the software. I could go more realistic to the period and make it the size of a small car. now you can put alot on a platform that size, them mars rovers and orbiters demonstrate just what you can cram on something that size. if your sensors are miniaturized enough you could have satellites that could see an ant in the sahara desert (Figurative ofcourse),
  7. you do realize that I'm taking existing technology and exaggerating it right? Kinda like Triyun's engines, the rules say it has to be real world tech, there's nothing that says that it has to have exact real world capabilities, if that was the case, triyun's bomber wouldn't be allowed. ummm also please make your measurements in imperial, I don't use or even know metric. so I have no idea what them distances are that you're mentioning.
  8. Ahhh I understand now your thinking my satellites use the normal Pulsed wave Radar which would require a gigantic transmitter/magnetron, I chose police radar gun technology because they utilize continuous wave radar which means the set can be much, much smaller. and still achieve a few miles distance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuous-wave_radar since I'm looking from low orbit down, it only needs a few miles range. another method would be FLIR or LIDAR but both of those are very limited. standard Radar was rendered useless years ago by stealth technology so pulsed standard radar satellites would be a waste and would offer no protection and if you're wondering just how small a radar set can get here's something for ya. http://www.gizmag.com/worlds-smallest-sized-radar-system/25152/ Doppler is a fascinating technology, it can be extremely miniaturized and still be useful. I stated 22,500 miles as a orbital distance in that RP because that's what the keyhole satellites would need to be useful. them use a narrow angle camera which requires distance from subject to get a wide view.
  9. you don't need huge amounts of power if you're focusing radar beams on something from many angles, iit's why CAT scanners that detect microscopic stuff aren't as big as buildings, they fire multiple low powered beams from several directions, if something is invisible to one beam, another from a different direction will likely see it. A police radar gun is in the simplest sense, a portable doppler radar system, the reason they don't have any range is they're fed low voltages, low wattages, 100 watts max I think, my system takes the electronics out of them, beefs it up some and feeds them 50,000 watts, the power source is solar, PV panels like any other satellite, the onboard computers are modified off the shelf Raspberry Pi computers, cheap, a dime a dozen, I'm going small because small means cheap to manufacture, cheap to deploy, the strength in the system is I don't have 1 satellite, I have a grid array of several thousand of them spread over thousands of square miles, if it covered the entire USSE in that RP, millions of square miles, if one seen something it could vector in a local array to get a more detailed look, it could also send a signal to ground control and vector in ground based Doppler and standard imaging systems to get a pic, that would be sent to central command so fighters could be launched to intercept. the thinking as far as redundancy is concerned is any attack large enough to take out even a portion of that system would be noticed and retaliation would be well under way. an EMP hit on that system would be no more damaging than a hole in a screen door, since they're cheap, redeployment would take hours, maybe a couple days. my decentralized fire control system is software based, software that exists on hundreds of servers connected to a wide area array of ground stations, you'd get a few in the first salvo, but since it's software based the system could quickly adapt and compensate, there's literally no centralized command and control to target. now you could do a HARM attack, but again the missiles would be detected and retaliation would be already underway when they detonated. I'm favoring cheap, simple and easy to produce technology over expensive/complex technology. I'm designing this thing to take wicked amounts of damage and still be functional, you'd unload your entire arsenal and I'm back up in weeks. Also Triyun I am curious how your hybrid scramjet/turbojet gets around the intake air valocity problem? aswell as the other technical issues your design would face.
  10. for one mine wasn't an offensive weapon, it was a detection system. as for Triyun's jets, you can't combine a SCRAMjet and a turbo jet, for the very reason that you can't ram supersonic air into a turbine engine, on supersonic fighters that use turbine engines you have to put a diffuser screen in the intake tube to slow the air down, if you don't the engine will pressure stall due to air compression on the intake turbines as you approach mach one. Triyun would simply firewall the throttles and his expensive jet would power stall and crash. My ABM system (Which was separate) was an almost exact clone of the star wars defense system. SCRAMjet = Supersonic Combustion Ramjet, the exhaust is both too fast and too hot to be processed by a turbine engine, the other way around, the exhaust volacity of a turbojet in too slow to keep a scramjet running. in order for a scramjet to start, the intake air speed has to be greater than 750 mph. Now it COULD work if he didn't combine them, like use the turbojet to propel himself to mach 1, have the scramjet on a different engine pod and fire that up for hypersonic flight. as for the zombie virus, it can be adapted for weaponized use at some point in a war. thus it should be rooted in reality.
  11. You do realize it's Fantasy RP right? I borrowed on a couple concepts for that system. one is a phenomanon known as positive displacement, when an object travels through a gas or a fluid, the gas has to flow around the object, when the gas reconverges in the rear of the object it causes turbulence, as for the satellites, there is a doppler radar unit that will fit on a platform that small, an adapted Police radar gun doppler radar unit hooked to a computer (a modified Raspberry Pi) to process the data. doppler radar is doppler radar. as for the satellites I was adapting and fantasizing a real world proposed communication system that would use micro satellites in low to mid planetary orbit. satellites that would serve as doppler radar platforms that could detect atmospheric turbulence. though the concept is possible it's very unfeasible with technology we already have, again I was fantasizing for the sake of role play. Triyun's hypothetical hybrid SCRAMjet/turbojet mach 4 engine is also impossible as is Tywin Lannister's white death zombie virus. why aren't you having a go at them? it's fantasy RP. I loosely modelled the whole system after Reagan's SDI (Star wars) system. As an aircraft approaches Mach 1, the air in front of the aircraft compresses (Bow shock) that is what causes the sonic boom, that bow shock can also be detected and tracked. the whol thing is a fictional weapons system, like half the weapons mentioned in this forum.
  12. what I'm saying is very rooted in facts. just as a speed boat moving through the water leaves a wake, a plane moving through the air leaves a wake of turbulence. Air ports use doppler radar to detect and warn airliners of turbulence. that same technology can be brought to bear to detect a stealth aircraft by the wake it leaves as it moves through the air. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake_turbulence https://www.faa.gov/training_testing/training/media/wake/04SEC2.PDF that wake Turbulence can be an indirect way to detect a stealth aircraft, Basically I'm going to detect your billion dollar stealth fighter by the effect it's having on the air it's moving through ie passive detection. I'm than going to use that to approximate it's position and launch an attack on it.
  13. I hereby disband the nation of Iraq and sell off it's assets to the other nations of the USSE. I'll be selling all technology including my ICBM's distributed evenly amongst the member states of the USSE, that includes all research and technology which enables them to enrich uranium and make ICBM's. My space program will be dismantled and moved to Iran, Iran will also take ownership of my nuclear enrichment facilities, rocket factories and long range engine technology. My airforce and navy will be distributed amongst the USSE member states aswell. All land forces will be placed under Iranian command. EDIT: This just in, the lower and upper legislative houses have voted against disbandment, Iraq will not be disbanding and will remain a member of the USSE.
  14. every aircraft leaves a wake. it don't matter how stealthy it is, it disturbs a box of air around it. you can detect it using passive means like Doppler weather radar, programmed to identify wake turbulence. passive detection can also determine the volume of air the aircraft is displacing as it flies through the air. You're not detecting the aircraft directly, rather you're detecting it by the effect it has on the air around it. Drones are susceptible to hijacking via electronic means. you can identify the control signal, transmit over it on the same frequency and steal control of the drone, effectively hijacking it. Drones in combat against a technically advanced enemy is a very bad and costly idea. equip them F-22s with Doppler secondary radar and you can find anything.
