  1. I'm glad to see that the oldest alliance on Bob is still ticking. Where's my Esau? :awesome:

He's probably off losing a chess match. Poor kid, never had a chance!

garbunkel -- If it makes you feel any better, I've limited myself to only wearing them on the weekends. A gal has to stay classy.

James Wilson -- Psh, I AM the sasquatch. Peter Falk is about as sasquatchly awesome as you get. For real.

  2. Kevlar, still in GATO. The only thing surprising is your not Assembly Chairman. Your one of the few old timers in GATO I actually liked. I wish GATO the best on their long journey back to CN Politics and the sanction race.

Been sitting and yelling from my coveted lawn chair for so long that I got stuck to it, so I stick around to avoid the painful removal process :P I did run as AC for a spell, but I'm more than pleased with the leadership that has followed. Both Morte and now MTTezla have done fantastic jobs, much better than I could hope to achieve. I'll stick to where I'm needed :)

Thanks for the kind words one and all.

Oh, and Barb-- Funny you should mention that, because I think the Praetor name was coined by MTT :P One of those last minute things or something like that. In the official capacity, I believe SDRD is our acting MoFA and hence why a separate title was necessary for the GATO representative of the Foreign Affairs branch. My role is mostly bureaucratic in nature, though :P I don't expect the name to stick forever.

  3. I know for me that Foreign Affairs has always been a problem area for the alliance, and it felt like there was little I could do about it in the five months I served in the Ministerial post way back when. Glad to see we're getting a chance to reshape foreign policy and put a real and legitimate emphasis on reason. I'd definitely like to see better treaties result from diplomatic talks and have them reflect the true nature of the relationship at hand. Though, I think the largest thorn in a diplomat's side is connectivity between two alliances. In my experience, good will among governments and the power of the written word only gets you so far. I think that the break up of previous Brown pacts was in large part due to competing government egos rather than actual policy decisions in Brown. Very little to do with Brown.

It will be nice to pursue policy with a more coherent plan in mind, and I'm definitely looking forward to working with Brown alliances once again.

All in all, good read, Raga. For me, it's been #s 1 and 2 sort of mixed together. Though I think color unity should be a bit easier this time around.

  4. The political and cultural climates of this planet of ours change on a daily basis, even faster as the world shrinks due to advances in technology. No one is the same as they were the day before, but we never consider them to be different. Our identity as the Global Alliance and Treaty Organization won't change. Even a supposed mixing of cultures wouldn't change our identity. We are what our community makes us. Our people constitute our identity. As long as we have members lurking the Halls of the General Assembly, we will be who we are meant to be. So much of this talk doesn't make a difference. The Global Alliance isn't dead, nor will she be.

Heyman made similar points, but wanted to put them into my own words.

  5. Oh my, I was wondering why you hadn't made your move in some time. I actually just now checked and saw that you won.

Well, you're really good! I mean, if that was the first time you'd played in that many years, then I'd say you're a very talented player. You beat me at my own game!

Thank you, good sir. As well to you, great game and a well fought one too. Sasquatch shall mark it down as one of the many epic struggles of the arts.

Need to find some vague way to tie it back in to the topic at hand, so I'll say: give peace a chance! Or Esau gets it

And hats off to my good friend Cata.

  6. This thread suddenly reminds me of how I ZI'd Kevlar in The Last Actually Good War That Didn't Involve X Alliance C*ckslapping Y Alliance Until It Said "K, I give up yo," And Ended Really Awesomely.

Ahem. I get weird when I'm tired.

Anyway, congrats to Kevlar on getting MoD instead of ZI'd.

I'll have you know I had 0.07 infra after said conflict! And I always round up! :P

    Thanks, I think :P
